- How good is Icelandair's domestic flights? Air Iceland Connect was merged with Icelandair in 2021 transferring all their Dash 8 aircraft over to Icelandair. Icelandair operating all the same routes that Air Iceland Connect used to operate out of airport like Reykjavík Domestic airport / Reykjavik City Airport to places like Akureyri Airport. Today we are taking a flight all the way up to Akureyri from Iceland capital Reykjavik on Icelandairs Dash 8 Q400.
Akureyri airport itself is an international airport that is growing rapidly over recent years, it serves the city/town of Akureyri Iceland's second largest city outside the capital area of Reykjavik. Akureyri located in the north of Iceland serves as a hub for domestic flights in the far north of the country with airlines like Icelandair and Nordlandair operating flights all over the country as well as flights to Greenland.

Would you take a domestic flight in Iceland rather than driving if your pressed for time?

That looked like a very smooth flight over stunningly beautiful scenery. 30 minutes or 8 hours by bus... If you're on a time constriction, the plane seems the way to go. Nice presentation too, allowing us to relax and enjoy the scenery too, without a big ego or too overwhelming. Thanks Don 😊
That means a lot thank you. We will be having a lot more videos coming out of Iceland. My number 1 priority is to make my videos entertaining for people while trying to sprinkle in a bit of info.
Man!can you imagine how beautiful it would look like at night with aurora borealis ❤.....all while you're in the plane
I believe that there are some flights that fly during night specifically to find the northern lights
Fascinating video of a fascinating Island, straddling the mid atlantic ridge. Beautiful intro, loved the DC-3 model in the check in area and views of the volcanic scarps on the flight 🌟 Thank you Dom 👍
You and me both! There will be more videos coming from Iceland very soon.
Great video !
Glad you enjoyed it. Its a great service.
Awesome footage on what looks like am amazing day for flying (even with the cloud at the end). A well put together capture of the domestic flight experience.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hello mate, I'm from Iceland Nice to see you enjoyed Iceland (Akureyri) . and nice video mate.
Icelandic air has been around a long time. In April of '74 my high school German class took Icelandic Air from JFK to Brussels on a DC-8 Super 60; the longest single-aisle plane of all time.
Sorry for the diversion from today's delight video.
Very Nice ❤
Great video. It’s a shame your not getting more views. I think you make fantastic content & u obviously put lots of effort into it.
I appreciate that thank you. I am doing a lot of reading up and research on optimization so that I can hopefully market the channel a bit better (I'm no expert). I do also want to keep improving the quality of the videos so any suggestions would be welcome. 😁
Nice video as always Dom, look forward to seeing more videos soon - anything Flybe related planned? 🙂
Thanks that was a great flight . I spent a fantastic spotting afternoon looking down on the domestic airport in the cafe at The Perlan musuem nearby - saw some breathless take offs and landings . I love Iceland and this video reminds me why .....
Funnily enough I spotted a q400 being subbed by a 757 for the flights over to Egilsstaðir in the east while i was staying here. If you want a room with a view over the airport I'd recommend staying at the Icelandair Natura hotel, The bar's outside seating area is just back from the Eagle air terminal at the airport. 😁 Plus being out of the city center its just that little bit cheaper.
@@WorldWide_Dom - Thanks I will bear that in mind The buses from the Domestic Airport to the City Centre are good and if its an Icelandair Hotel its bound to be classy ......I can feel a week in Iceland thanks for the idea !!!!
@@DaveMansbridge Its a great hotel for the price, I've stayed there 3 times now, Its got everything you'd need Restaurant, bar and Spa. They also have a small shop & a library.
