Trip Report: Domestic Icelandair | Reykjavik to Akureyri | IcelandAir Flight | Akureyri

Today I'm at Reykjavik's Domestic Airport. Don't get it confused with Iceland's international airport in Keflavik some 45 miles away.
In this video I will show you the tiny domestic airport just over a mile from the city center of Reykjavik. What it has to offer to occupy your time while you wait for your flight.
We will then board and you'll come along and enjoy the landscape and beauty of Iceland from above.
Once to Akureyri you will see just a snippet of where i went exploring and I highly recommend this part of Iceland.
Lastly check out the link below to the lagoon that I think is a lot more peaceful than the famous blue lagoon.

Late reply here but as an Icelander from Akureyri who travels abroad a bit I can answer this question!
From Reykjavík Airport the easiest way to Keflavík is to book the flybus between the two, a shuttle bus will then pick you up at the domestic airport and drive to the BSÍ terminal where the main bus to Keflavík leaves from.
It's a bit of a complicated transfer but given the domestic airport is important for medical and business travellers locally, it's probably better than rerouting everything to Keflavík

I also took this route a few years ago. My understanding is that the domestic airport near downtown Reykjavik will be closed at some point. So domestic & international flights will eventually interconnect at Keflavik.

@@mattsmoments2 Sweet, can’t wait for the video. I have a goal to fly in and out of every commercial airport in Colorado, along others including flying out of that Reykjavik airport. If you are still in Europe, do a video of London City Airport, Bara Airport, and maybe Stockholm Bromma if possible

I do wish British flew the the JFK to London City route. But they got rid of it to my knowledge during Covid. That would have been a fun one to vlog.

Iceland is beautiful so I can’t imagine either side is better than the other. I will say that I purposely chose the side I was on because of potential volcanic peak views. But even then I think the route is too far west and north. That’s my two cents. Haha.
As for showing the back i was disappointed a little of not being able to get up but understand with it being such a short flight.
