- The last of the NES Mega Man titles saw a release very late into the system's life cycle. The dreaded Mr. X has taken control of the world's best Robot Masters, and it's up to Mega Man to stop him. We've all heard it before, but is it still a good game despite it's late release? It's Mega Man 6 for the NES!
"Mega Man brought a rope!" is my favorite line of this review even now.

It brought back memories for me. The best part was that once I discovered the RCA cables, I said, "Fuck the coaxle antenna cables! This picture is SO much cleaner! ...and now I know what those yellow and white ports on the side of my NES are for!" Don't judge me. I was a kid at the time.

For many years people had bashed this game because at the time it came out it was mostly ignored due to Mega Man X, but in the wake of Mega Man 9 and 8-bit nostalgia the people of the Internet went back and started rediscovering this classic.
It truly is one of the better titles in the series despite its low difficulty. It's got great music, a memorable theme, good weapons, a freaking jet pack and fantastic graphics.
It's one of my favorites, thankfully Nintendo brought it over to the US.

I bought Mega Man Legacy Collection for my 3DS about a year ago, and got to play all these games in one binge. I'm now a huge fan of the series.

I always get nostalgic when I come back to this video, with Johnny getting his CRT out of the closet. I may have only been 3 in '94 but I still remember playing Super Mario World on the CRT in my living room when my siblings went to school. Good times

Mega man 6 is easily my favorite entry in the classic series. It's the second Mega Man I ever played but I have so much nostalgia for it. Overall it's the one that's the most fun for me, the levels are fun, the level themes are cool, the Robot Masters are awesome and the music is great.

Man that ending was priceless. Good to know he went for my suggestion and went with the PS2 anniversary collection. That certainly saved him some time and money.
Seriously, while the GC exclusive(History of megaman with Keiji Inafune) is nice, it controls better on the PS2 because of the D-pad. Plus, the megaman cartoon episode is a good bonus.

For those flipping platforms in the first Dr. X stage, the trick is to flip them both so they're pointing to the right, charge up you punch, then just hop on over there and break through the wall. You can jump to your full height from the second platform without worrying about hitting your head on the spikes. Kind of a cute little puzzle, in my opinion.
I loved the ham-fisted plot twist with Mr. X (misdirects). It's a subtle play on words that I don't hear many people talking about.

Apparently, those platforms in Mr. X’s castle are really easy to get around: Jump on the leftmost, jump on the right platform, jump back on the left while it still faces right, jump on the right, fire the Power Shot you’ve been charging, and go through. Thanks, Roahm Mythril!
Growing up, Mega Man 6 had a place in my heart, because it was the first Mega Man game I beat without using Game Genie. I didn't care if I was cheating, I played them for fun anyway. :P But after I beat 6 without it, I got use to playing and beating the others without it. :)

Ronan Reaper Well, mega man 7 and x3 is already confirmed to come to the wii u vc. But we don't know when. Also, we won't get 8. It's a ps1 exclusive. The only way nintendo only gamers will ever get to play it is by playing the mega man collection on the gamecube. It comes with the first 8 mega mans.

How did you get your cartridge to work without depressing it in the system & locking it into place? I can't do that on my NES.

He probably had his NES modified with a special pin connector.
Schwarzer Ritter Or, maybe he did what I did and bent the pins in the default connector upwards. It really is a good, low-cost solution to the ever-present connection issues you get with the front-loading NES's.

"Mega Man 6" may not have been released on the Wii's Virtual Console library, but that least it became available on the Wii U along with "Mega Man 7".

Am I the only one who noticed that when the TV's static comes up, the lego mega man is on the TV, but after that, it's gone until johnny puts it back.
I don't know why, but I really enjoy the sequence where Johnny is setting up the old TV with the NES along with the music.

Who said one has to use a Playstation version of a game to port to the WII U. They have options to what they can do. They can base it on the Saturn version, they can base it on the Anniversary Collection version of 8 and reintroduce it as a Wii-Ware Title. If that wasn't enough, they can literally port the entire X series basing it on the PC versions of the entire X series since the entire X series are also on PC. They aren't on steam, but they are certainly as PC games. It doesn't stop there, Megaman Legends can easily meet a port because of Megaman 64 and it's PC port, the sequel just because of it's japanese only PC port and so on. Need I continue or should that be suffice?
lol rly? nice. also yeah I agree why not port megaman 8, or the X series for that matter? well it doesnt matter much though, theres emulators although I can never get a sega saturn emulator working, specifically with a controller, I have a problem with the PC versions of megaman x4, theres never any music for some odd reason, so I thought I'd download the sega saturn version of it, but the emulator I got for some reason wont accept inputs from my xbox 360 controller. anyone got a good sega saturn emulator? specifically one that accepts inputs from a 360 controller?
edit: yes ik that it has a playstation version as well, but I prefer to get the sega saturn version, i have a playstation emulator but its kinda annoying booting up games and stuff

Programs like Joy2Key are your friend. Newer OSes tend to have issues running older games, but if they were to port, one would assume they would try to optimize it.

I like 3 the best from the first 3, and 6 the best from the second 3. Following that, 7 over 8 and 10 over 9.
I know I don't seem very hip, but 2 was my favorite of the first 3. I just like the tunes, and it's been a game I've had for a long time. Never played any of the next 3, though., as I don't own them. A friend of mine lent me a disk with the ROMs of them at a party, but I've still never played those.

This is actually one of the very last three games Nintendo themselves published on the NES, as late as 1994 in North America. The other two being Startropics II and Wario's Woods.
My left ear enjoys the commentary and nothing else.
NES did have mono sound.
Apparently he fixed the problem, as both sides of the audio work.

Animations and Cereal It looks like he has a modded NES, similar to the "Blinking Light Win" mod, which has you just insert the cartridge. Fixes the ZIF problem with the connector pins, for the most part.

If you re-bend the 72 pin connector to correct the gray flashing screen problem they sometimes get tight enough that you no longer need to push the game down to make contact.
As you saw, he was holding a Mega Man Anniversary Collection case at the end, which means that he'll have to beat 1, 2 ,3 ,4 ,5 and 6 to get to 7
I find it kinda funny that the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, Super Nintendo/Famicom, PlayStation, Sega Saturn, PSP, PS4, XBox One, and Nintendo Switch each only had one new classic Megaman game and the PS3, XBox 360, and Wii only had two, but the NES/Famicom had six and the Game Boy had five.
I can't wait to hear him talk about the Wily fight anyway.
One of this games robot masters was from a kid in the US, Knight Man. Also twice you put the cart in the NES, and both times you didn't push the cart down.

Oh boy... I remember those days. Back then, I had to set the TV to Channel 3 (or Video 2 depending on the setup) whenever I wanted to play a game. The static, though, is rather annoying.
It's the end credits theme from Rockman 6 Complete Works, the enhanced port with rearranged music.
Setting up that TV and flipping through those channels made me feel so fucking good
The way Johnny introduced the game and how he plugged in the the NES kinda reminded me of AVGN.
