That's the A200s smaller brother, the A125. Because horns carry farther than whistles which the Milwaukee Road also used on the high speed Hiawatha trains.
Beautiful engine. Were they always painted a glossy black?! It looks great. But from what I remember as a kid, back in the 60s, they were just a flat black. Or am I mistaken?!

I allowed my membership to fail and for the life of me I do not know why. great train great excursions I have been on two. many years ago my paternal grandfather and I took the 261 to Chicago windows open soot flying in it was a thrill i took my wife to Chicago in the beaver tail on the last train to leave the Milwaukee depot.
If it wasn't for those BN officials who went to work for the Milwaukee Road and systematically destroyed the railroad and cooked the books on the mountain sub out west ... the Milwaukee Road would probably still be a viable company
