A really high calibre of play, every bit as exciting and entertaining as watching men's hockey. The goaltending for the Canadians was awesome. Great game! Congratulations to the Canadian women, whom I saw win in Salt Lake City in 2002.

Forget the haters, this was a hell of a game. As close as inches, and a post. And the crowd was classy, when the medals were handed out there was a standing o for the USA goalie - she played a lights out game and nearly stole the show.

I've been trying to look for the medal ceremony for the women when they were singing Oh Cananda. I'm not Canadian but I had shivers down my spine when I saw it at the time.

i became a fan of Hayley Wickenheiser after winning gold medal, she was being interviewed and told the media the Americans were stepping on the Canadian flag in the dressing room so she asked the USA team if they would like her to sign it.hard to find that clip but i'll always remember.

you know what gave me the shivers? the pro-canada crowd started chanting USA USA USA. i have never seen canadian hockey fans chant for another country like that. there is a youtube video of it if you want to see. its from the NBC feed

This Doesn't show how bad the canadians were screwed by the bad referees and still overcame it to win gold. it was atrocious but even more glorious to overcome adversity and win.

@SuperVancouverBC That was prettty cool, eh? My city Sault Ste. Marie, is hosting the World recreational hockey tournament in a few weeks. Our city is fielding about 5 teams of women. Our league here, has 20 teams. Great participation, eh?? I only wished they had age divisions, like they do for the men. Or I'd play too! I'm a "tad" old for the open division!!

I’m curious, why does this video show, only partial medal ceremony? Shows a few American women receiving their silver medals, skips it all, pans across the Canadian men watching their female counterparts, and no Canadian women receiving their medals?

To be able to win both the mens and the womens gold is something no other country has been able to do, Canada has done it twice now 02 and 10.

but isnt that a good thing? i was never a fan of the big open ice hits anyways. too many players in the NHL are getting concussions. what i propose is women's hockey becomes semi-contact. allows hitting along the boards but no open ice hits

There have been calls to drop women's hockey from the Olympics because it's so dominated by North America (though it seems a lot of those calls have come from Europe). Heading into the 5th Olympic cycle, Canada and the US still have a stranglehold on the top 2 spots.
The U.S. won bronze in 2006. Sweden got silver.
Why is it , that this video only shows the Americans getting their Silver medals, and not the Canadians getting their GOLDS???
