This series of scripts was inspired by Blush Blush by Sad Panda Studios. (I considered auditioning for one of their games when they had a casting call!)
I've only played about 20 minutes of DDLC; never finished it. I've also never really watched Gravity Falls! So neither of those were direct inspiration, at least on my end ^^
This is the most expensive audio I've EVER produced for this channel! (And it's officially stuck with limited ads; manual review concluded, fml.)
None of the animation elements or horror sound design was in the script, I just got fancy because I found the series so inspiring! [Redacted] really knocked it out of the park!

The mention of the absured amount of gifts seems accurate. Why is that the fastest way to gain affection in those games?
Probably because building and maintaining a genuine relationship like you do irl is all boring and time consuming and shit. “Here, have fifty bananas, bananas are your love language!” is a lot easier than planning date nights!
And of course I imagine from a development standpoint “clicky button give thing, stat go up” is much simpler to code than a really deep management sim.

Damn that quality on this channel just keeps going over the roof! Amazing work as always! It's really interesting to me that hearing the listener try to evade her and lie to her makes me think "dude, that's absolutely gonna screw us over later don't do it" but it's also completely understandable, because there have been moments in my life that I've gotten scared or panicked, and the thing is, we probably would do some of these decisions as well cause in said moments I really couldn't think clearly on what was best to do.

Hehe, I imagine this to be an alternate universe/future where games are more immersive and someone put their heart and souls into making the character in question here, only for her to gain sentience (not unlike a certain other girl we know) and now she brings us into her world in an attempt to have a relationship that she plans to make last forever! Also this is a full story, which makes me eager to see where this goes ^_^

Oh, it is Great Indeed!
Don't get me wrong, DDLC deserves all the love it gets, and it's twist is well-known because it bushwacks you with the Fourth wall excellently.
But Totono plays the long game, spends hours suckering you into it's characters and world-building, and then you have to see it all fall apart Infront of you; it's heartbreaking, motivational, and freaky how the Game plays with you (in both subtle ways and a good old fashioned shattering of the fourthwall).
To be fair, Totono is kind of cheating because it's got a budget and is made by a whole team, so the production value would naturally be higher.
DDLC was made by just Dan Salvato and was for free, so it deserves it's good reputation with flying colours.
But man, between the Two, Totono is beyond incredible, and to say it did the whole "VN that breaks the FourthWall and Ingame Character falls for the Player" thing Waaaaay before anyone else in the game.
Totono came out before CZcams was popular with Reaction commentators too, it really was a wild experience to play it like a Decade Ago and just get sucked in.

When I'm feeling bored with a trope (which happens so, SO often) I try to dive into stuff that's older than what's currently out there boring me. It often ends up feeling really fresh! I know of some notable isekai anime from the 90's by reputation (Now and Then, Here and There; Escaflowne; Rayearth; Fushigi Yugi; InuYasha.) They might be a nice switch if you're interested in that sort of thing.

This video is actually five scripts in one, so in a way the audience already got a sequel or four! There aren't any more scripts in the series at this time, but even if there were (or if there someday are!) I likely won't be doing something like this for awhile. It was a lot of work!
