    Was a fun last lap to watch! Bummer about the time penalty for Verstappen. It seemed that while he did take his four wheels off, Kimi ran too wide to defend regardless.

    • @m7movies
      @m7movies Před 6 lety +66

      Mind that the next turn was a left though, without the speed avantage he has gained from cutting he would never be able to go around the outside
      Even if he could have overtaken him easely, he should've done it legal regardless
      Would have liked to see him get 3rd though, just a couple corners too short

    • @PbPomper
      @PbPomper Před 6 lety +34

      It happened to a lot of other drivers as well. The consistency is once again terrible! Also, he could have passed him easily by going a bit less to the inside of the corner. but he also had to avoid a collision with Kimi.
      Adding to that: after the Mexico GP 2016, where Max was also taken from the podium, the stewards and the teams had an agreement that a diver should ALWAYS get a chance to defend himself before the stewards. the FIA is not even playing by their own rules! Disgrace for the sport!

    • @raggandb
      @raggandb Před 6 lety +74

      How you want to defend that, when you can clearly see everything on the tape? It's not like Kimi forced him to cut that corner...

    • @squeakybunny2776
      @squeakybunny2776 Před 6 lety +5

      raggandb well he didn't leave him much room either did he. He initially steered in. He went steered left at the last moment again but by then max had already decided to cut the corner to prevent them from crashing, which, in my mind is a justifiable reason and so according to their own rules max shouldn't have been penalized.

      The rules are decisive.
      The enforcement is not, however.
      Favorable teams and drivers often get a pass. The only thing we can do is to demand the FIA to enforce the rules adequately, consistently and distribute penalties accordingly.

    • @dallia1
      @dallia1 Před 6 lety +1

      They should take a serious look at the stewarding and how it's affecting the race, at least give some time to properly review the footage and discuss with the team when it literally means the difference between a podium or not - no one had anything else to do while waiting for the ceremonies. And as for the video footage I think Max reacted to Kimi turning in slightly mid corner and cut the corner in order to avoid what he thought would be a collision, but there's no way they could make a rational decision in the 2 minutes it took them. If it was for like 10th place they wouldn't even have bothered reviewing the pass or penalizing, it's a shame cause it ruined a great race.

      From someone who watches both German and British TV: I can assure you that these British commentators showcase a much more balanced and equal level of enthusiasm, raising their voices as loudly for a non-British driver as for a Brit, whereas the German commentator(s) (RTL) completely lost his/their sh*t upon Vettel's overtaking at the start but who later could not care less when Ham got him back and won the race. Trust me, these two German commentators do not miss a chance to denigrate Hamilton (or rather his lifestyle as his driving is impeccable)...so you're way better off with what you have

Both have already showed us they can perform with the non-dominant car, meaning they are both better than Hamilton.

    2: Cutting (Going straight is always faster than zig-zag duh...)

If it was all the car then Bottas would be getting second every race and would have won more than two races early in the season, now let's see everyone try to tell me that Lewis has a better or different car than Bottas lol.

      I dont think that's the case, people are not saying he's not a good driver infact he's one of the three best drivers on the grid along with alonso and vettle but what people mean when they say he's winning just because of his car i think they are referring to the scenario were if lewis vettle and alonso were given the same car aka the merc would lewis be as dominant as he is right now granted in terms of outright quali pace i think lewis is still better than the other two but in terms of race craft i think alonso is the best among the three and granted this year ferrari did have a very competitive car but mercs are a bit better and given how close these guys are in ability that little bit of an advantage is enough for lewis to come out on top at least that's what i think

    • @siheath3648
      @siheath3648 Před 6 lety +48

      I continually read people harp on about how Alonso's race craft is better than Hamilton's yet I have yet to read anything that actually backs this up, it just seems to be something people say. When they were team mates in 2007 Hamilton finished with the same points, wins and podiums as Alonso and out qualified him by quite a margin, made even more remarkable by the fact it was Hamilton's rookie F1 season. Everyone that knows anything about F1 knows it's virtually all car but they had the same car that season, so where was this better race craft? whatever that actually is...

    • @SimonAgterhuis
      @SimonAgterhuis Před 6 lety +4

      The rule states that if 'drivers gain an advantage by going off-track they should be penalized'. By being forced wide Bottas was able to maintain his position two times, which means that the rule applies here. The rule doesnt allow for relative advantage, every advantage is exactly the same. Also if it was indeed the case that Bottas was forced of, Ricciardo should be penalized for that. There should however be no discussion about whether all of the other drivers that went off track should be penalized. Vettel got ahead of Hamilton in the first turn, but if he would have gone slower he may not have been able to do that, altough he would have stayed on the track. Same goes for when Sainz went off track while overtaking Perez. If he had gone slower he may have been able to take that turn correctly, but he would not have overtaken Perez.

    Vettel left the track on the exit of turn 1 and gained an advantage at the start no penalty. Botas leaves the track on the exit of turn 1 and holds position on Riccardo so gained an advantage yet no penalty. Carlos Sainz runs wide to pass Perez runs wide and has all four wheels off of the track gaining an advantage of more speed out of the corner no penalty. During that race I saw numerous cars running off of the track and straight lining the chicane no penalties. Yet Verstappen passes Kimi on the last lap avoided Kimi trying to cover him off and he runs of the track and gets penalized. Jean Todt would be pleased then.
