    Ignoring his mistake at the start, this is one of Kimi's greatest races of the turbo hybrid era. Sensational overtakes on the Red Bulls, amazing race pace and a tenacity that highlighted his great strength at wheel to wheel racing. The race itself is also brilliant, probably Vettel's best Ferrari win.

    • @BruceLee-ky7qz

      Has to be a top 3 race from him in the hybrid turbo era. Literally vintage Kimi Raikkonen we saw in his McLaren days and the first stint at Ferrari. Excellent racecraft,patiently taking his opportunity and those overtakes as you say sensational but also incredibly fair and clean which more or less debunks Christian Horner’s saying “you can’t overtake at corpse” 3 years later

    • @colonelarmfeldt8572
      @colonelarmfeldt8572 Před rokem +15

      @@chanchaniceman Christian Horner never claimed you can't overtake at Copse. He said you can't "stick a wheel up the inside of Copse," meaning going for a half hearted, desperate, manoeuvre without any forward plan. Although Kimi actually backed out of overtaking Max here, you could see overtaking at Copse between Hamilton and Leclerc this year.

      At the end the crash was not so influent on the result. Without it, Hamilton would have been behind Bottas, maybe behind Kimi (able to overtake at next corner ?). Later during the race, I'm sure both Ferrari would have been struggling with tires, but it would have been with no consequences thanks to the safety car. So yeah... I regret that contact too, but it haven't really changed the race to my opinion. That finish with the 4 (5 with Ricciardo ?) cars was awesome to me too. I was really wondering if Vettel was going to overtake... and his overtake was pure gold, like the one in Austria. For the moment, 2018 season is way better than expected I guess

      Why did Kimi get 10s tho? We can cleary see that something was wrong with the front-right break tire, it's not like he did it on purpose.
      I don't watch f1, but i'm seeing some clip recently, the Fia is really bad. Like max being world champ in 2021, he shouldn't have been world champ (at least not with that race). Or Vettel getting a 5s penalty loosing pole to hamilton... Or in this clip, Fia punished Kimi too much, like.. it should be neutral... if that's the sport, I don't like it and I won't see it. @@PolPingo Ok, yes the FIA makes a lot of mistakes, that's sort of the 1 thing you got right. Max deserved 2021 because overall he was the best driver in a competitive car, although Lewis did deserve to win that race. Not sure which 5s penalty on Vettel you're talking about, so obviously can't comment on that.
      Somewhat agree, I would've given Kimi a 5s penalty, although I can see the argument for a 10s penalty being tough but fair. He was in the wrong and caused a collision which would've ruined Lewis' race had he not been lucky with the safety car. 10s should be if the driver was being reckless, although the context if ruining Lewis' race which shouldn't have an influence, probably played a role. It was the argument people used back then to justify it as well.
