Covid-19 builds interest in sustainable construction

The cement industry is one of the largest producers of carbon dioxide, creating about 8 percent of worldwide manmade emissions of the heat-trapping gas, according to think tank Chatham House.
But interest in more sustainable methods of construction is growing, and the pandemic hastened the trend, giving companies time to reflect on innovation during coronavirus lockdowns, says Agnes Petit, CEO of Mobbot. Her Swiss startup offers a cleaner, faster and cheaper way of building tunnels with concrete. She tells Ana Maria Montero how they do it and what’s next in sustainable construction.
