Since renovating Our DIY Camper last year (take the full renovated tour from last summer right here: • RENOVATED RV TOUR | Ou... ), we've had so much fun camping in it. I think it's one of the best purchases we've ever made and renovations we've ever done! I did leave one area undone to tackle this year, and that was the RV's tiny bathroom. I knew it would be a ton of work even though it's so small, and I was right!
For a small amount of money, I updated the bathroom this summer so that we could enjoy it in all it's renovated glory for this year's camping season. I used lots of items I had on hand - mostly paint! - to give our camper's bathroom a major makeover on a budget.

Absolutely amazing make over. I love the black and white. The outlet cover. I take them off and spray paint them and and the screws. I hit them with a couple of coats of a matte sealer and they wear very well.
Never underestimate the power of paint!! I use it whenever possible before deciding to replace anything! It works miracles! The bathroom looks great!!!

Just purchased a small older 2002 camper to be able to spend more time with my grandchildren …SOS ! HELP! Where do I begin ? I swear by oil based primer. I used the bulls eye but I have primed cabinet counters, cabinet doors, vinyl wallpapers, furniture. That stuff is amazing
Looks really nice, update the shower head and put up some good waterproof shower walls and use it! It’s so much easier than using RV park bathhouses. We used to avoid ours too but ended up in a campground that literally only had a trickle of water in their showers so finally tried ours out. No looking back!

A great tip I learned from a friend of mine, she was an interior designer, anything shiny, like towel wracks, door handles, wood or plastic doors, cabinet doors, wallpaper (if you choose to paint it), etc., is to use Kilz primer first. It's a bonding primer that will prevent your paint color from scratching off. Not using a bonding primer will lead to paint failures over time.

wow, so lovely, what a difference paint makes!!!!!! you would think the rv industry would watch all these diys on rvs and stop putting that awful wood and brown stuff in them, when you see the brand new videos they are just about the same as the older models!!! nearly every diy I have seen, and I have seen ALOT everyone painted the whole thing white and maybe some color on the cabinets and the place looks twice as big, and airy. your rv looks like it would be a pleasure to be out in it, heck I could live in it as a tiny house it is that beautiful, i'm going over to watch the rest of the reno. new viewer here.
I have wanted to buy and live in a fifth wheel for a long time now. I will only be able to afford something older. But this video was nice inspiration and encouragement. I can see how an older camper can be updated quite nicely on a budget. Thanks
Elena Sullivan, If I may...look for a pre 2008 unit. They were built much better before the recession. A unit with aluminum framing is also much better built than a wooden framed unit. My 5th wheel is 30 foot and it's perfect for one person in size and storage. Good luck on your search!

Spectacular as usual! What were we thinking back in the 90's??? BTW, you can spray paint the outlet and cover. Just lightly sand first. Would be a good temporary fix.

One of the best makeovers yet! I was not aware you could get the tub/fixture... in a can. That is great news! I have used the refinishing kits before for cast iron tubs and you roll it on and it is very tricky and unpleasant. Will be trying the spray cans now, thanks!

Makes it look cohesive and much bigger, plus it looks elegant. Would have removed the knobs and towel bar then painted them. Let us know about the product durability, especially on the tub, toilet and sink. It is my understanding that if you use an oil primer you *must* use an oil paint over, whereas if you use latex primer underneath, you can use oil or latex over. If you use oil primer underneath, and a latex over, the finished surface will "craze". Btw, what did you use on the counter, I seemed to have missed it.

I’ve just painted the outlet covers after removing. It will scratch off but might last longer if you sand first. Also it works until you can find what you want.

Stunning transformation! If you want your outlet cover black maybe try spray paint. Worked for me during a quick condo flip. Rather than purchase black covers for outlets and switchplates I initially soaked the existing items in bleach, thoroughly scrubbed everything, used spray primer then black spray paint. I pushed the short screws into cardboard and sprayed them black. Worked for me. I kept the actual plugs the original color, I explained to potential buyers it simplified proper usage. No one ever complained

I love what you did. Awesome job. Black is not my color so the only thing I would change is the color of the bottom cabinets, but i love the idea of a different color on the bottom cabinets.
