  • @WilliumBobCole

    This is as close to the game I want pokemon to be but probably never will. Part of me wants to MAKE the game myself, but my own lack of follow through means I am stoked to see someone putting it into practice. I can see some things I would have done differently, my combat system would be heavily movement based, with diving under water to dodge attack, wall running for ariel attacks, there would be an almost rhythmic flow similar to the Batman Arkham series, but to keep it in balance, there would be, not cooldowns, but recharging energy, for special attacks, so you could spam them like any other attack, but they would be less effective than if you spent some time dodging and recharging your energy... But yeah, I just want direct control of the creatures and in a non turn-based combat, preferably with loads of exploration, story quests, puzzle solving, all that good stuff. Playing a lot of Genshin impact lately, I think elements of that game would work too. Anyways yeah I'm not likely to make the game of MY dreams, so, I cannot wait to see the fruits of this game come to be

    Awesome Video! What I didnt get was the specific timing tho. Like did they put their kickstarter page on and a few days after they went with backerskit? Or did they negotiate something beforehand? I really feel stressed out about just putting your page out there and hoping that some marketing dudes or publishers will contact you to get your funding :0

    • @ReeceGeofroy
      @ReeceGeofroy  Před 3 lety +1

      Definitely a lot of prep needs to be done before hand with getting attention to the right crowds, running ads if you can, etc, but in this example they did reach out to backer kit later on in their funding campaign! Don't stress just research and prepare months before hand and you'll be okay!

    You know, I'm about to start really creating my own game and I never thought about raising funds for it. I was just gonna go nuts and kill it myself. If I were to ask for any $ I would make sure every $ of it went towards the game. I have a lot of new ideas that I see aren't really being utilized. I am actually happy that I heard the term Perma Death in this video. I thought of incorporating many things into my game over the last few decades and now gaming is catching up and one of the first thing I was thinking of was Perma Death. A free idea i'll give.. You can give them a Limbo Stage that'll treat you as unconscious and give you a chance to save your life.. Unless your toon is currently in the belly of a high level monster.. Then I think you'll be out of luck.

    My advice to aspiring devs, and this is from someone fairly new themselves to indie dev., Pursue it, invest in yourself... If you can't be bothered to invest in your self then why should others? Take your time and learn the most you can. Just go for it, you can't succeed if you don't try.

    Lots of good insight, but I'd really have to disagree about spending money to make it serious. I feel like that's the easiest part. I know a ton of people, including myself in some cases, who are more than happy to collect all the tools they need because it feels like progress.
    It's false progress though. Like writing something on a to do list just to cross it off. You need to actually do the work.

      A game of this scope would take you far too long to do everything yourself. It is better to pay others to do the work. It's what being an actual company is about. Progress is progress, you don't need to do everything yourself. Most of us try to do everything ourselves, because we have nobody to help us or we don't have the money to pay others.

      @@maythesciencebewithyou I may have misinterpreted their point, looking back at it.
      My point was more about buying tools or assets to give yourself that sense of progress without ever making real progress.

    My dream pokemon style game is with realistic graphics. Think a Skyrim dragon but its a Charizard. And all the monsters are mostly towering beasts. That could snap you like a twig if threatened. (Could make for a dark fantasy game). Fine ill do it myself😅😅
