Actually, the name is from an old card from the first set and was created by Richard Garfield on his own, Wotc had no part in making the name for the character.

@@helo793The CARD itself existing is indeed where WotC said "fuck dyslexic people in particular". They didn't HAVE to pick that character reference out of all the many characters who didn't have a card yet. In fact, Maro said it was the intentional choice of the designers to pick it for MH2 specifically because it was such a difficult name to read/say. And actually went to great lengths to even fit it into the card name bar (both squashing it and putting the mana cost of the casting requirement in the text box) solely to be able to make that joke.

When wizards jusr gives up on good card design and lets the disgruntled employee slam his face into the keyboard.
It is a cool card tbf, but the name certainly leaves a lot to be desired.
It didn't just come out of nowhere, Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar was first referenced in the flavour text of Granite Guardian in Alpha, the first set ever released:
“While most overworlders fortunately don’t realize this, Gargoyles can be most delicious, providing you have the appropriate tools to carve them.”

This was printed on a card from the first set in 1993. She's also quoted in Lightning Axe. Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar didn't just come out of nowhere, it's a character that's been referenced and hinted at in the past finally getting a card.

It's actually quite surprising how easy the name is to say once you've gotten used to it for a short time. I spent like 5 minutes parsing the name back when the card first came out and have had no problems remembering and pronouncing the name since, even when I hadn't even thought about magic for weeks in between.
Post was surprisingly the closest which is awesome lol

It is funny, but it's also really easy to learn how to pronounce it. "Asmorano", "mardica", "daistina", "culdacar". Just keep splitting the word up if this is too much too. It's exactly the same when learning to play a song on an instrument :D
Learning how to pronounce something straight-ahead (little animation term for ya there) is maybe the most difficult way.
