- Marc Spector is a man who's been shattered into 4 separate identities who come together to become the hooded crusader of vengeance: The Moon Knight.
Steven Grant: Intrepid millionaire stockbroker, taking down organized crime from the top of the ladder. Jake Lockley: Late night taxi driver who listens to the chatter of guilty as means of gathering intel. Marc Spector: Retired mercenary and seeking revenge. Moon Knight: a mask-dawning punisher of the night.
Caden Butera, the writer and director of the fan film, says “I, along with all the other Moon Knight fans out there, have been dying for the character to get his debut on the big screen. He’s such an awesome & complex character; I hope one day he’ll hit the limelight of the MCU.” Director Caden Butera, along with a skeleton crew of passionate fans of the character, came together to make this film for existing fans of Moon Knight and to hopefully spark new ones.

Moon Knight needs a show in the MCU as good as Daredevil. EDIT: STOP REPLYING TO THIS COMMENT I KNOW THERE IS ONE NOW!!!!
Cool as hell
You leave Moon Knight out of the current MCU. I want a dark gritty R rated Moon Knight. He has split personalities and once cut off someone's face off and wore it as a mask.
Even better
Darryl Hamlin dude that can be dine in the MCU. Look at Daredevil and Punisher etc. they all have that rating and are ruthlessly violent and are in the MCU.
fr
This is exactly the tone and theme I'd want from a moon knight movie, my only issue is the costume. I would've preferred it being all white like the original sienkiewicz design or even the Mr knight look by ellis. All in all amazing tho, hope marvel amd feige take notes from the amount of detail and care put into this film
That's a fair criticism. And thank you so much!
I kind of like the costume designs in fan films, because just think about it if you just got superpowers is one of those powers going to make you a master tailor? Probably not you'll probably make yourself a costume out of whatever you can, maybe you could look up tutorials or something but chances are it won't be the best, kind of like how Spiderman in a lot of versions starts out with just a red Skii mask or something, or how in the Netflix series Daredevil just wears black clothes. Just makes it feel more grounded which in turn makes the fan films more believable, at least in my opinion.
My sentiments exactly. The original costume looks amazing on the printed page, but it would be very hard to bring an outfit like that to the screen in a way that didn't look silly. The Mr. Knight outfit however would be far easier and visually fantastic. It would also have the added bonus of not inhibiting the actor's mobility. Not to mention how it would really bring home the point about liking the way the blood looks splashed across it.
@@Werewolf914 I hear where you're coming from and fair points, but grounded and believable are not necessary for my personal enjoyment of a superhero movie. Give me the suit I expect, please.
@@ricosuave6898 20 years ago, prop and film technology made what you are saying absolutely true, but the MCU and others have proven that we can have the suits we love, albeit with a few tweaks, and still have them look great.
I have to say... when the 3 personalities were standing next to and looking at each other... that was a genius move to show the dynamic. That's how I know a lot of love and attention went into this.
We'll see if Disney "takes inspiration" from that idea.
@@lucascoval828 Yeah, like how they "took inspiration" from Star Wars fan-art and used it as their own artwork without giving credit. I hate Disney.
Its like legion
Absolutely! Really illustrated his split personality issues.
Whoever made this should be hired by Netflix
Thank you very much! That's the dream!!!
Should be hired by Marvel itself!
Screw that he should be hired by Marvel to take his vision into the mainstream!

Hey man, i just wanted to aks, is your fan film aproved by marvel or does it even have to be in order to not get copyright strike?

This is in no way affiliated with marvel, this is why I am not running any ads on this video. :) @@matijamargetic2181
@@CadenButera so by not running ads on a video or fan film, you can not get in any trouble? I'm asking this because i want to make a ff myself but am afraid of copyright or some other worse consequences.
From what I understand yes. We are not profiting off of this title in any way. However before you do anything you will want to conduct your own research. @@matijamargetic2181
Wow Dude. Moon Knight is NOT an easy character to portray. This was exceptional and amazing. Im sure you already are but you should be super proud of yourself.
16:25 who’s Bushman
Hey hello, how are you enjoying moon knight
@@kodesh1674 Bushman was Marc's boss when he was a mercenary and he was the one who left Marc for dead in the desert. He's one of if not Moon Knight's most classic and iconic villain.
Pretty good fan film ! Alot of Moon knight fan films I've noticed have unfortunately never gotten off the ground or have been delayed numerous times with their release dates up in the air so it's a sheer blessing that you and your crew have been able to make something this well made !
Brandon Aleman Thank you so much, Brandon!!!
I think my only complaint is the guy not screaming in pain after his leg is straight up chopped off other than that everything done here is a freaking master piece the dark tone the music the mask the setting moon Knights personality disorder and just the dark wet rainy new York it fits perfect
The scene where he's looking at his alter egos was perfect. Disney is gonna botch it up cuz they won't have the balls to go as far as these guys went. Fuckin bravo and a job well done. The feel was perfect and the monologues were amazing!! Glad to see moon knight get some respect!
Thank you so much!
its his multiple personalities not alter egos
This honestly shows why moon knight needs his own movie or Netflix show.
Welp...
@@productions-lx3qh I feel like you regret saying that
I kept expecting it to look like a shitty fan film, but it didn't. Great shot choices, menacing lighting, good editing, great acting...I hope you already work in Hollywood, because you should.
Thank you so much!
I don't know, I'd pick a better cast for this and here's who should really be in it:
Jon Glaser as Marc Spector/Moon Knight
Brock Lesnar as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone
Joshua Felder as Prowler
Taylor Swift as Felicia Hardy/Black Cat
Big Show as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin(post credit scene)
@LEGEND I just think she has the look for it
Damian Prock yeah because I’m sure that cast is available for short fan films.......
Moon Knight has probably been my favorite superhero for the better part of 40 years. I thought you tackled his multiple personalities very well. It felt like a spot-on representation of the character. And the internal dialogue-not only a great narrative device, but also felt like things the character would be thinking. Bushman? Loved it. Somebody build a Netflix series out of this rivalry. My ONLY grip is the costume. Like I said, I’ve been a fan since probably 1981 or 1982, and I’m a big fan of the costume(s) he’s worn over his career. As such, this really didn’t work for me. I’m sorry. It just doesn’t. The mask was too big, and made him look more like a B-movie “Predator”, and I really didn’t think the black trenchcoat matched his persona. That’s just my personal gripes about the whole thing-and they’re minor. But, again, I think you did an outstanding job of capturing the essence of the character (from personality right down to the fighting style), and the tone of so many of his stories. Great work overall!
B. Curtis thank you so much, man! Yes the black in the costume is an understandable critique. Really appreciate it, thanks!!!
Nailed all my thoughts almost exactly. I remember the first moon knight I read in the early 80’s and thinking, “Is he a good guy or a bad guy? I think this guy is insane.” It’s hard to make such a drastic costume change from white to black like that but fortune favors the bold as they say.
I respect taking the chance on the costume color change but I would have dropped it like a bag of hammers as soon as I saw it myself.
Exceptional job otherwise!
(Except for the heavy handed, look at us we’re bad guys type dialogue)
MOON KNIGHT IS GETTING HIS OWN SERIES ON DISNEY PLUS!!!!!!!!!!!
Moon knight will be tv-14 and probably played by woman. So don't expect disney+ to do a proper Moon knight show. Its Disney, lately disney is more worried about political correctness then anything else.
@@evilruffbuff omfg. Soooo, you mean the same as the comics then? They were not "rated R". Lol Just stfu, fuckin' dipshit.
@@evilruffbuff well disney plus is official adding r rated content now
@@pablocolon9425 Correct plus it's been pretty much confirmed that Oscar Isaac would be the playing the lead role.
@@derrickhaggard should the show be a dexter type or joaquin phoenix joker type
If there is a sequel you guys should totally use the Mr. Knight design! That would be so cool to see in a live action short! This was awesome, fantastic job!
I am a huge Moon Knight fan and I really enjoyed this. His costume definitely needs to be white but you could get away with black accents. The tone is great and I would love to see more.
That was my one little thing. Moon Knight wants people to see him coming, knowing they fucked up.
This guy and Oscar Isaac should team up one day
This is remarkably well made. Thank you for giving the Moon Knight fans community something as awesome as this.
Thanks man!

I know that I am way too late to be saying this
But this is the coolest version of moon knight I've seen so far and I really hope that there is a second part to this fan film
Truly, better then the D+ show imo
Really digged the mask, but not enough white in the overall suit
Moonknight has a black and white suit so it's not far off
This is just... Way too good. I love the grim feel, and the dark presence of Moon Knight, the great settings, the rageful demeanor he carries, the suit he wears, the cliffhanger at the end.. It's really awesome. It's so cool to see these fan films glow with great ideas made before there was ever a feature film, or show about the character. Great stuff.
Thank you very much!
Pulling the crow bar out of the guys head was straight brutal....llllyyy AWESOME! Great work guys!
“Why do I wear the white? Because dark colors make it harder to see the blood.” Chilling
I love it though when a fan film is so breathtaking
Moon Knight is such a complex character, with one of the most interesting backstories of all time. I was beaming with delight and a big shit eating grin the entire time. You honestly hit me with the same level of excitement as I had with some of the biggest Marvel movies and even Aquaman (My favorite DC character since I was a kid). What you did, in just under 18 minutes, is truly a work of art. I wish you many years of success!
Thank you so much, man!
That ending credit scene was great along with that subtle Khonshu reveal.
"So dark... are you sure you're not from the DC universe?"
This film is amazing. It's very well choreographed, amazing acting and camera work, great action, and good characters!
Edit: I completely forgot to mention the awesome costumes!
It's a travesty that this doesn't have a million views but nevertheless well done you managed to capture the tone perfectly and produced an amazing short film
Thank you very much!
i really appreciate how you made Moon Knights fighting style so comic accurate. He actually prefers to take a lot of hits instead of dodging them and this was shown very well. Awesome film overall
I love the way its set up dark and depressing like batman
Thnx for the heart
I know everyone is a critic so I'll spare you..... I am just glad to see Moon Knight getting some much-deserved Love
Thank you, man. I appreciate it!
"It's not even vengeance anymore, I'm just fuckin mad"
So good.
A great short film. I gotta say, the main actor played the persona of moon knight perfectly. Also, during the fight scene when the crook pulls the crowbar out of the other dead crooks head was fantastic. The way the head moves up with the bar as he pulls it out... just amazing.
I’m glad you enjoyed that Lusk, you sick fuck.

Hell Yah, now thats Moon Knight!! Well done friend!!
Thank you so much!
HUGE moon knight fan. This was great. I’ve been waiting for a TV or a damn movie. People just don’t get how much potential moon knight has.
Not a huge fan of the overall costume and the way it limits the actor/stunt guy's movement, but that mask is top shelf. The crescent blades, which I'm not familiar with from the comics, are a very smart blend of the crescent darts and his old school cestus gloves. If that was your idea, it was a good one. I don't think it will be too much longer before Marvel gives us a big budget MK in some form (probably not the muderrific incarnation from this film, but that's OK) thanks to fan projects like this driving interest. Thanks for your hard work.
Thank you for the feedback! And yes those crescent blades were our own design :)
Thank you for the support!
Thanks!
Actually it’s barely visible on 12:07, but engraved on the blades it says “Fist of Khonshu.”
@@Mr_Sarcasum That's cool, didn't see that. Double kudos to the filmmakers. I think any screen version of the character would be wise to hold on to the supernatural aspect of the character, or at least, the possibility thereof, so the lunar related powers and communing with Khonshu, whether real or part of Spector's psychosis, are left in.
It will be difficult for Marvel Studios to pull off a Moon Knight anything. That's the main thing small, fan-made productions like this have the liberty of with this character.
There's a list of reasons, but the main one comes to a single issue: MK's mental state. To properly translate the Moon Knight in a way authentic to the character, this *must* be addressed, however it is a touchy subject to display out there. Even Snyder toned down Rorschach, if only a bit. You could go with the family revenge motive to steer away from the insanity a bit, but then that just makes him seem like another Punisher. Likely this character's mental instability, and then have him kill several people will make it automatically never get a movie directly from the studio (especially with how touchy people are today). There is a possibility that Netflix could pick it up and keep it in line with their other dark Marvel products, but they'd have to do a lot to differentiate it from the Punisher in the view of people who don't read the comics. (To them, to quote a friend of mine who I explained the premise of MK to once, he is a "not rich batman that dresses in white, but goes around killing like the punisher.")
I felt like I was watching the opening scene to John Wick 2 in some very similar way, which I’m meaning and hoping be taken as a compliment!Since that was one of the best opening/amazing movies! Very well done on visuals and I especially thought you did an amazing job on the fine details like the screw sticking out of the wall etc.
This is how a MOON KNIGHT movie should be.

I can't believe it. thje story and monologues are exactly what moon knight would be like, the multiple personalities trying to take over mark specter and he actually knows that he has a problem. Brilliantly done.
I'd love to see a sequel to this!!! Maybe a more comic accurate Moon Knight costume with more white in it would be cool to see!
This is bloody on the same order as Punisher. I'd like to see more of this.
very very respectable portrayal of one of my favorite comic book characters ever. would totally pay to see this turned full length feature.
John Rogers Thank you very much!
The sound effects, the moves that are fluid yet not too much. This is amazing!
Hope marvel decides to let you direct Moon Knight. It's is so pleasing to watch this.
I always thought there was potential for a great Moon Knight movie. Thank you for proving me right. Your movie would be a great pitch/proof-of-concept. Contrary to a lot of detractors, Moon Knight is not just a BatMan clone.
Well done!
In fact, this was better than the last 3 or 4 actual Marvel movies I've seen.
Thank you so much!
8:50-9:50 seems like something out of Daredevil Season 3! That was honestly really creative and well shot!
Hah, that was the inspiration for it! Good catch!
RDCWORLD1 brought me here lmao
Dedpool wears red to hide his blood and Moon Knight wears white to see others blood.
Badass!!
Awesome job, guys! I love Moon Knight and this movie captures him perfectly. The mid-credits scene was great, too. Introducing Bushman at the end like that leaves you wanting more, just like the MCU movies do with their mid or post-credit scenes. The music was perfect and really gave it like a horror tone and the voiceover captured that grittiness that's a part of the Moon Knight comic itself. I just loved it and I can't wait to see a sequel.
Much better than what the marvel “cinematic” universe have released, great work👏👏
Not really but ok
No way! Lmao
I’d say that the much one is both really good and really bad, but more good than bad.
I want THIS for a Netflix series. With this cast. The mask looks awesome!

Wow this is absolutely amazing. So high quality, so amazingly done, you did Moon Knight the Justice he deserves. The acting, the production design, the fights and the music were great. And that costume is FREAKING EPIC!
Damn, thank you so much!
No thank you for such an amazing fan film
The dialogues are real good on this.
This was amazing, exactly what Moon Knight deserves. The costume could be more true to the original, but I loved it! Perfectly dark as it should be. The crescent blades were awesome!
The best part of the film was when that leg got chopped clean of very good film
Wow, I loved this. I've always thought Moon Knight would be perfect for a Netflix show or a darker MCU film, and you really captured the tone here. The only bone I have to pick has to do with the costume, though I know other people have pointed it out- he wears white because he wants to be the one people see coming. Color aside, I like the redesign of the outfit itself to suit someone who fights on the streets a bit more by changing the cape to a coat, etc. Overall I think that if Marvel ever does a Moon Knight movie, they should consult you.
I agree to a great extent. I think of Moon Knight more as silver than white, and in adapting to film there are ways to keep certain lines intact from the comics by reworking them, say instead of 'wears white because he wants them to see him coming', say 'why so bright' and the idea is the same. I see this as something akin to Daredevil's outfit in Season 1 and 3 of Netflix show and it works well in street fight. The more complex high tech stuff comes later. I see Moon Knight also as a living blade and that would work on screen much the same, since he pulls out the crescent blades in the fight. Good stuff.
Thank you for taking the time to share your appreciation and love for this character. I’m glad to finally see him get some attention. It makes me more hopeful for a Marvel Cinematic Universe debut or something similar to their Netflix(now canceled) shows. I would love to see a continuation of this, and would also love to see an all white suit, or mostly white.
Very well done! I felt like I was watching a Netflix show!

Just remembered this project again now that there's a real series. It's so crazy that parts of the universe thought so obscure the only way they could make their way onscreen were through fan projects are getting full budget productions now. Your vision of the violence was always perfect, though
I've told Caden many times it was his vision that brought MK to Disney+. No doubt. He should have gotten an official shout out.
This was really solid. It's really awesome to see that you can make a superhero movie without an insane marvel movie budget!
I love the placement of the internal dialogue of the character separately from the action sequences. It allows the viewer to pay 100% attention to what is being said when there's dialogue in the fights, vs the mental conversation that illustrates the character's frame of mind and thoughts as he gathers information. Also, the multiple personalities was also a very nice graphic, as it shows you all his personalities side by side for comparison and allowing one to clearly see the differences between each of them in a scene that was perfectly timed, both in length and coloring. :)
All the other elements were also very well placed - setting, characterization, motivation (not too much, not too little), theme and plot - all just enough to make the short interesting, but not give away anything critical. The "baddies" are sufficiently evil so that you don't feel bad for their suffering their fate, but you also understand the place where the "good guy" is coming from, so the damage being dealt doesn't seem over the top, absurd or contrived like in some other shorts online. If a full-length film or series can be made in the same style, I can easily see it being well received. :)
The only place where you could have possibly have improved this short in any way would have been if you show that guy with his cigarette, then having those "LED" eyes light up in the darkness behind them before being pulled into the darkness.
This director is 21! Hella props
Thanks, man!

Excellent. Moon Knight is a much different character then most Marvel heroes. Great to see you nailed his essence.
This is really well done and nicely accurate. So many people liken moon night to batman, when in reality, he's more accurately a cross between Batman and Rorschach.
Utterly phenomenal work! I was pleasantly surprised with how good everything in this was. The acting felt very real, the dialogue was good enough to rival Netflix originals, fighting was great, editing felt smooth, and the tone was superb for the character. I felt parts of the costume could use a little work (mainly just getting more traditional white in it), but it was still great. I am greatly looking forward to seeing more from all of you guys.
