This storyline was horrific and took a sledgehammer to almost 40 years worth of history without blinking an eye. It permanently tainted Sharon‘s character until Ian returns and they hash this out.
They did the same to Pauline. The entire writing staff should have been fired; it's really disrespectful to loyal viewers to ruin a character like that.
This was one of EE’s most gut wrenching plots ever seeing Ian and Sharon who had been friends for life (almost half a century!!!) suddenly Ian become Sharon’s worst enemy. I understand why tho as he did unintentionally take her son’s life away & he wasn’t taking very good care of their friendship anyway but losing your son and then your oldest friend must be one of the most scarring things ever.
Yeh she was very sponge Bob squared pants boxed shaped literally with skinny legs. I was always nervous seeing her in heels, scared she would topple over unbalanced with twigs of legs
This was so out of character of Sharon. She might have lost her son but that’s no excuse to take another man’s life. Not to mention her and Ian have been close friends for years.
I don't think it was out of character for Sharon at all. It's testament to the lengths that grief can lead you. I don't remember if Sharon fully processed Denny's death and made peace with it. She knew Ian has always been a weak, nasty weasel of a man. So Ian hiding his part in Denny's death was just Ian being Ian. It was no-holds barred when Sharon discovered Ian was instrumental in Denny's death.
When Ian comes back and notices Sharron has lost weight, she should respond "yeah, I haven't eaten anything since I saw you sucking spaghetti up off the floor of The Vic. "
I went when I was a kid about 6 yrs old and started watching Eastenders, the storylines was great since 2000 don’t know what happened and what idiots right the story, I haven’t watched Eastenders some 98, it was great back in the day the whole family sat down and watched at 7:30pm the good old days
The storyline made no sense. Yes Ian locked Denny in the room but went back and saved him. If it hadnt been for Phil and Keanu fighting the boat wouldnt have crashed. If it hadnt been for Denny not doing what he was told and staying home and if it hadn't been for Sharon cheating on her husband with Keanu which made Phil angry in the first place, Denny would still be alive. Ian wasn't to blame he was the convenient scapegoat the others pointed fingers at to absolve their own wel deserved guilt.

Phil just couldn't except that so he played Dennis like a fiddle because he knew Dennis would go after Johnny. Phil didn't care what happened to Dennis and he knew when Dennis confronted Johnny whatever happened it wouldn't be good for Dennis & Sharon. I am not so sure he felt guilty either. Phil hated Dennis for not being afraid of him, because Sharon loved him and because he got set up by Den & Dennis and went to prison. I can't see Phil, the way he holds grudges feeling guilty about Dennis. JMO
That is what I was thinking I do not watch EastEnders regularly me and my wife divorced but I remember really liking the Dennis Rickman character and hating how Phil set him up to beat up Johnny Allen resulting in Dennis getting stabbed in the heart in New Year's Eve

Maybe he didn't care about Dennis after Den and Dennis stitched him up for that robbery

I just thought that since Phil cared so much for Sharon he wouldn't want to hurt her that much by setting Dennis up to be murdered soon after they were married. I believe Phil felt bad after Dennis died because he and Grant went after Danny for killing Dennis.
Ian owed Max money. He didn't care. He also didn't like Phil or Sharon as they knew he was innocent and let him go down. Ian isn't innocent but knew Sharon was trying to bump him off
I disagree. Despite the weight, Pat was sexy. She just was. And every man and woman in the Square made her pay for her sex appeal. And over the years Pat matured into a truly generous caring woman. Sharon's had no real growth at all. She's not evil. Sharon is just there.

Ian didnt kill Denny for godsake, the boy was drinking and somewhere he shouldnt have been. Ian as his Mums friend locked him in a room until the boat docked. Id have done the same if it had been a friends kid or my nephews. Ian risked his life to go back for Denny. If anyone killed him, it was Phil and Keanu.

I actually felt bad for Ian in this storyline. Dennis was a little sh!t who caused his son to get attacked, and he tried to save him after locking him in a room on the boat. Phil and Keanu were to blame for it, not him. Also ironic that Sharon first tried to kill him while Sinead O’Connor’s version of Silent Night played in the background, just like it did when 3 years later Keanu was strangling her.

Umm Ian had no idea His Phil was going to be in the vicinity of the steering wheel and cause the boat to crash while fighting his ex’s boy toy. Phil is MUCH more to blame for this.

If I remember rightly Walton feel the one who lied to Dennis about Johnny Allen beaten up Sharon which made Dennis give Johnny Allen a good beating which resulted in Dennis been stabbed so that makes me feel responsible for the death of Sharon's love of her life
