Love the history behind all that was given to you. ❤❤❤❤
Gentle gentle!! Old documents do not rip!! Lol
I'll be more careful haha I was just excited
I said the same thing !! You made me cringe . You should research how to handle paper and historic items from over 100 + years . Gloves , acid free paper , If you want the items to last look at how fragile they are . I stumbled across this video. Enjoying so far
@@wadeslugoski4790 I now have gloves and acid free sleeves! In the moment I was excited and didnt really think about what I had. I have experience working with old documents because I've actually put 12 binders together in a similar manner before! We all do dumb things when we are excited haha
You are so blessed to receive all those items take good care of that history 👍👍👍🎇
So pleased this was passed on to you, I’m a big fan of preserving history
Me too! If we dont protect it then our next generation wont be able to appreciate it. I'm lucky to have the chance
Actually what you have found is a family time capsule, it just happens to be in cardboard boxes instead of in a metal box or buried vault. Valuable.
Happy for you buddy! You seem like a genuinely nice guy, so this was well deserved!
Thanks!
John Charles Fremont was a remarkable character in our American history, especially in the West. I grew up in California and his legacy is firmly rooted there. He was an American explorer, military officer, and politician. He lead many exploration expeditions across the various mountain ranges that opened the door for miners and settlers heading West for the gold rush of 1849. He was tied to the Pacific Railroad that ultimately failed. He was a candidate for President. He has quite a history of successes and failures and it is cool that you found that envelope that was maybe for purchasing his book of memoirs that he published called "memoirs of my life" ... very cool
Thanks for the information Dk! That's really interesting. I'll definitly keep an eye out for more documents pertaining to Fremont! That's why I love history you learn something new everyday
Very cool Ken!!
Wow. What a fantastic gift... Can't wait for the followup videos...
Just came upon your channel video. I absolutely love civil war history. My sister and I have done a lot of research tracing our ancestors in battle. Good job.
Wow! Very fortunate to have friends like them. Just wow! Goes to show there's fantastic finds both below and above ground. Congrats Brad and just from your voice I can tell you're excited to look and research all.
Its truly amazing stuff! I'm so excited to get to go through it. Its definitly a unique experience
*What would really be icing on the cake is if you actually found something in your past hunts that ties it to someone or something in that wonderful treasure trove of history. That was very kind of them to give you all this amazing stuff. Better to you, than it be lost forever as garbage. Congrats. _/*
I agree! I cant wait to go through everything more thoroughly and see what there is to learn! Who knows mabye there is something I could tie to it!
Totally AWESOME collection ! You might wear non-acid gloves while handling the the paper items as the acid in your skin will cause the paper turn dark and fall apart ! The gloves are the type you could get at a place sells and collects old coins ! Thank you for sharing this very interesting article with me ! Take care , stay safe and healthy there ! Doing well here in Kansas .
I'll definitly look into the gloves! That's a great idea
@@1894Outdoors you're welcome
Definitely wear the gloves to protect the paper from deterioration. Great gift from your friends. Congratulations!
Great video.
You weren't lying this is incredible thank you for putting the video out so soon. While I'm away!!
Absolutely amazing, I love seeing those old documents. Glad they are in the hands of someone who will appreciate them!
I love them that's for sure! It's so interesting to get a glimpse that far back in our history
Back in 1977 I flew from Florida to Connecticut on a airline and carried on board a civil war sword a buddy gave me. I still have it. Boy times have changed.
I'm going to leave a comment to be entered in the contest but those fragile document should be preserved you're not going to find these anywhere I found some stuff in an old garage attic long time ago and turned out I found a cigar box full of Civil War Confederate buttons and even a Mourning ribbon all of that stuff that's really cool I'm now subscribed thank you for the cool video
What an amazing gift. Thank you for sharing with us. I cant wait to discuss the items on Relics Radio and also look forward to more videos to come.
Same! It's going to be fun tonight
What a great historical collection. Great that it's in good hands. So cool. 👍👍
Looked like an orb @ 7:18 . Upper left corner.
Oh my gosh I would just love to have some scans of these papers! You are so lucky!
Is that old ink on his hands? So lucky to receive such a wonderful box of treasure!
That is amazing!!! Thank you for this and all your videos!!!! I have SUBSCRIBED!!!
I would have been wearing gloves going through that stuff. The oil from your hands will ruin it. Wow what a great gift you have gotten. Speechless.
Great give away prizes!!! Thanks for all your time and effort to promote this fabulous past time...
You're very welcome thanks for coming out and watching and supporting! It's a team effort
I love in the Northeast so I really enjoy watching the southern digging finds ... keep digging!
My 4xgrandfather John Jesse Beaty Sr.
was in the GAR. He was a 2nd lieutenant in the union.
I wonder if he knew your soldier?
Incredible collection and hugh responsibility keeping them safe. Good to see it in good hands and I look forward to more videos. Thanks for this one, Garnet
I'm working on putting everything in acid free sleeves!
Absolutely amazing!!! I’d bet the historians would love to make copy’s of your collection. I would buy some if they were copied and sold! Nothing better than American history! Thanks for showing your new collection! Good luck to you on your next hunt!!!
Thanks! My plan is to put everything in acid free sleeves and then start documenting and reading trhough everything!
Somewhere someone who works in an actual civil war museum is cringing watching you handle that paper bare handed . Be careful framing, that paper requires special matting and framing to keep it from dissolving completely.
Awesome items, very generous couple. Look forward to more videos.
Holy cow, Brad!!! What a tremendous gift...and what a responsibility! Truly, I love this video...this stuff is just amazing! Congratulations!😊💖
It really is special! I'm very lucky. Over the next few weeks I'm going to put it all on acid free protective sleeves and make another video about it and I'm going to do a video on the solider when I get more information on him!
Good things come to good people.
I didnt think it could get any better, than wham! Some old alice stuff. I collect old alice and that was purely icing on your video cake my man
Wasnt that amazing!! I new as soon as I picked it up it was something special
OMG Brad, this is just so freaking amazing. You are so lucky. I can't wait to see the rest. So jealous. Lol I would be loving the researching of these items. I wish could help. lol
Trust me I'm excited haha. I'm going to put everything in acid free sleeves and then read and organize everything! I cant wait to get started
I know I am not the only one..... we can not wait for updates.
Way cool material in those boxes. Congratulations.
I know right!
Nice video 1894 Outdoors, I was born in PA too.
Neat stuff, glad I found you!
Great bunch of history right there!
It sure is! I'm really lucky.
That was great history of the civil war. When i waas in school mh favofite subject was. History and the civil war. History great vidio
Wow, what a great gift. 👍😯👍
I couldn't agree more!
The springs might be for cleaning cannons
Wow! Love that firearm catalog!
It's something else isnt it!
wow i just googled Willian E Hoffmans name ... what a great history he had ... look it up !
I’m sensing a trip to Gold And Silver Pawn in the future
Nah I would never sell anything. Once it's gone you never get it back
1894 Outdoors you got that right
Reading, Pa is about 30 mins from me. Interested in what you find out about this soldier and family.
Me too! I cant wait to really dive In
The Ink on your hands should be a trigger for you to know that the ink is coming off and or smearing..Grats on a Awesome History laden Score..be careful with the paper..lol
It was actually mostly dirt that I couldnt keep off my hands. I think these papers sat on the attic floor for years. I washed my hands multiple times while going through them but it just kept coming back. I'm going through and putting everything into acid free sleeves now
@@1894Outdoors That is a Great Thing then..Dirt never hurt nobody! Well maybe the next doors kid who eats to much of it but you get it...I like watching alot of MDing vids and hope to see you and your friends finding amazing history in the future. As you can tell i'm a bit of a punster or some might say smartass but I mean well!...8) HH
Amazing stuff. How late were you up reading stuff last night ? Lol. This video should do great!!!!
Almost 2 haha if it wasnt for the dust making my head hurt I would have stayed up later

Buen video saludos dede Islas Canarias 👍🏻♥️
I bet you that box had a certain smell to it. Smelled like history didn't it?
Amazing items
Very cool collection! Congrats!
Thanks! It's so amazing to own
Could the 3 coils in a bag been used as a pillow ? I know that might sound strange but it would hold their head up and if the blanket or small cloth was wiped around it for a little more padding.
I actually believe it was used as a support for Victorian dresses to help support them! People are also saying it could be used in grape shot but it definitely looks like what I mentioned prior
I would love to have one of your caps for my collection !
Awesome!!!!!
Very interesting video. You should buy a pair of white gloves to keep the oil from your hands damaging the paper.
I have acid free gloves and plastic protective sleeves prepared for next time! After the first video I havent touched them
Amazing stuff, wow!
Thanks Mark!
Wow!!!!
Dude love your videos! Found you on “Tic Tok.” I’m interested in one of those hats if they are the fitted kind. Keep up the good work!
I don't have any fitted currently but if I order more I'll let you know!
Please post anything you find out about those 3 springs in a bag.
I think I figured it out! It was used under victorian dresses to help hold them up!
Selinsgrove, Pa is very familiar name for this Pa girl.
I'm from Benton!
You should be wearing gloves so oil on your hands don't ruin artifacts ,please consult a pro so it's not damaged
I want to know what that white bag with the three springs was used for!
I've found 2 conflicting things. One is that it had to do with grape shot in a cannon another is that it was a womans undergarment in the Victorian area that helped support big dresses. (It really looks like that)
@@1894Outdoors You are correct! I just did a search on "triple coil bustle pad" and found it, you definitely have a unique item there!
This descendant of a union civil war soldier wants civil war stuff too 😭
Nice of them I would love to have gotten this from someone the medal printed on the first paper is the Congressional Medal of Honor
Its amazing! I still cant believe it
@@1894Outdoors the only William Hoffman I found was Thomas William Hoffman in PA. But he was from Berrysburg
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_W._Hoffman#Medal_of_Honor_citation
Not sure if its the same guy or not
@@1894Outdoors you know if you don't want the stuff you could always send it my way lol
@@efsmith71 I miss read during the video and didnt catch it until this morning. Its actually William Coffman! He had a fancy way of writing his C and I miss read it
@@1894Outdoors ok ill check and see if he won one
