And she does it AGAIN in series 4 - absolutely kills every scene she is in. She had me lauging out loud again more than once. She doesn't even need lines; some of the looks she gives are enough.
I lost my shit when she said "Well of course, my dear, these days servants are very hard to find. I suppose she has an appropriate costume for every activity. It seems a pity to miss such a good pudding." LOL I am like "Violet! You dirty ole woman!" LOL
I know, me too. When Ethel says, "These days a working woman must have a skill" and Lady Violet says,"But you seem to have so many", I cracked up, and I loved the look on Isobel's face when she said that.
@@nina1522 lol that's true!! She cracks me up! And her iconic line "what is a weekend?" 😂 it was then I knew I was going to love this show. Or when she uses the telephone for the 1st time and she shouts SHRIMPIE! I fell off my chair 🤣 Also when she goes to visit Matthew and she almost falls her chair and then says "no no, I'm a good sailor" when he offers another chair 😂😂
Maggie Smith is the great English´s talent the world. All woman this serie Dowtown Abbey are very nice. CONGRATULATIONS. Thank you for this wonderfull gift.
Yes. that was at 1:27 in this montage. that didn't look staged. I think Maggie Smith truly got into character at that moment. from telling violet about reading communist newspapers to keeping restless cousin Rose locked at home without loosing her cool. and the smarty pants looks she gives everybody at the abbey. superb!
0:58 the best scene in film history. no-one could have played it better. Maggie Smith: best actress alive! She knows the technique of putting layers over an emotion .. others just play the plain emotion. She knows the secret!
In this there were again some brilliant lines delivered as only Dame Maggie can. But on a serious note, I do believe the Earl was responsible for Sybil's death through his ego, pride and arrogance.
at 1:16 I originally thought she was going to have a heart attack or something... but seeing her so vulnerable (and almost weak) is just heart-breaking
I am from INDIA and I found my favourite Actress in Maggie Smith or I should Say Prof Macgonacal...Lady of the Van... I would like to write her and only wish that she reads it once.... I really Love Maggie Smith....She is now in my Soul...
The Dowager looks so vulnerable after Sybil's death, so heartbreaking! Dame Maggie Smith is wonderful.
And she does it AGAIN in series 4 - absolutely kills every scene she is in. She had me lauging out loud again more than once. She doesn't even need lines; some of the looks she gives are enough.
Devia ser dublado p português. Nem a legenda tem......
"Ah well, that is an easy caveat since I am never wrong."
No Dowager = No Downton
+Brian Moore exactly no one can substitute her wit
Especially after the movie
nobody could play that part pure classic and classy lady who has grown old gracefully unlike some of the other older actresses
"You've been reading those communist newspapers again!" can't stop laughing about that one!
Youtub xxx
It's my favourite too lol. Her delivery is so on point it's unbelievable.

I love this woman in every role I've ever had the joy of watching her play. A true "Great" in the history of entertainment.

What do you mean by layers over an emotion
i love how Carson walks a bit behind Violet to make sure she's ok
3:35 - 3:40 I just howled with laughter, seriously past the point of tears. 😃
Sco for me that was the best one!
She gets the best lines!
In this there were again some brilliant lines delivered as only Dame Maggie can. But on a serious note, I do believe the Earl was responsible for Sybil's death through his ego, pride and arrogance.
I can't pick a best one, she's just too funny, but I love the comment about Ethel being a prostitute
my favorite actress and my favorite character . love you Maggie Smith
If he's the agent we can call him Branson again, thank god!😂😂

Who is the gorilla? Is it Tom or his brother?
Yes but it was an hour everyday.
Great, great, great Maggie
I hate the fact that we can’t see Downton on Netflix.
that drama at :58 maggie smith is great
I love the Dowager....I think the writer of this tv show models her quips on whispers he's overheard from gay men. She's absolutely fabulous.
Maggie. My Maggie!
Love her work
"People like us are never unhappily married"
great acting
Isobel's face at 4:18 hahah
Still mcgonagall to me
I love it! Where's "Stick that in your pipe and smoke it."
That is in series 1 in believe. This is just the second part of series 3!
