Totally agree! Most"high end collectors" on here seem to primarily have AP's and Patek. For me, the vintages are the ones that really appeal. They somehow feel like hey have more character. I enjoyed this pisode more than I have any other so far.
Love this guy's enthusiasm and passion. Unlike many athlete's who just want watches for the 'bling' factor, he's very knowledgeable and likes the quality and history of vintage. Top man Howie, much respect!
As a British guy with no knowledge of the baseball world, this was a really great interview. What an interesting, humble and thoughtful chap. Watch Talk feels like a way to “meet” people from other walks of like that otherwise I would never have exposure to.
thereign What bob probably means is that bald muscular men are not often associated with watch/vintage watches. I have a military haircut and do powerlifting 5 times a week, when at a watchmeet or anything vitage related people dont expect to see someone looking like me there
Out of all the talking watches I enjoy this one most. Chill, unpretentious, well-spoken guy. Great collection that shows off a genuine interest and personal style rather than just wealth.
Great piece here, the smiles throughout his watch collection were genuine and heartfelt. It's wonderful to see an athlete with an understanding of the 'why' behind the prices we collectors pay for our beloved timekeepers. He comes across as knowledgeable and passionate. First class collection. Almost an old Hollywood feel to this gent. Brava.
This guy exudes cool from every pore. I love the fact that he knows even the small details of his watches and why he's purchased them. Also, I'm a Leica fan as well. Great camera and also great history behind the brand. My only advice would be to buy an M6 and start shooting some B&W film!
Plastic Hooks For watches to be only accesible to the top 1%, each piece would have to be worth approximately 20 mil. Other than that the watches in the video and other talking watches episodes are quite affordable.
I feel like these are videos for watch lovers in general. Because they show the watches in detail and talk about why they are interested in it. It is not about showing you product you should buy. It is about sharing something interesting and it is fun to watch. Also, I am just a regular guy who has his finances in order but works hard for every penny. And those watches are attainable if I wanted one.
@@arjunthakkar5383 Sorry, what I meant was that they are relatively affordable for the entry level rich and even some upper middle class people. To say that these pieces are only accessible to the top 1% is grossly false.
I really enjoyed this video thanks!.. Howie is a real thoughtful and intelligent guy, and you have to love his honest and unpretentious taste. He also knows exactly what he's buying, why, and what's inside which you have to respect.
This man is a multiple talent. Great athlete, beautiful photographs and lovely watches with interesting stories behind them. It's just so inspiring to watch. 👍
It's obvious his parents military background effects the style of watches he likes, almost every watch he owns has a military connection including that Panerai on his wrist
Man, what a down to earth guy. He has such a warm and honest collection as well. Fantastic episode. I’d love to check back in with him all these years later and see how his collection has grown.
The great thing about Talking Watches is that it makes celebrities instantly relatable. Their enthusiasm as hobbyists removes any airs their fame or wealth might confer. I love how sometimes they're even a little starstruck to be in the Hodinkee studios!
I was about to roll my eyes when he said, "shoot Leica only now," but I can't hate those photos. Solid work. I wouldn't look at this guys IG and guess he's as cool and down to earth as he seems here. Very cool, personal collection.
One of my Fave Talking watches episode. 3 years later, NLCS MVP, World Series Hero, World Series Champion!!!👏👏👏⚾️ This guy got game and knows his watches well. Classy and sophisticated!!!
I didn’t know Howie, I became an instant fan. What a fine humble well spoken normal guy. Congrats to all of your success Brother. Great story teller thank you.
Awesome episode gents. Love Howie's approach - not fussed if something is cheap or expensive or not, he just likes what he likes. I don't wear any watches with metal bracelets, always swapping over bands and leather straps so particularly enjoyed his collection.
This is the best video Hodinkee has. Mayer is up there but I like this one the best and Howie. I’ve rewatched it tons of times but thing that I like most is we talk about the watch, then we get to see the watch by itself and then we see it ON his wrist. Like a demo. I wish every video was like that. It’s great. It got me into green leather straps and just a whole different view on the hobby after this video
Maybe one of the only people who would buy a 30k yacht master over a 450k minute repeater. Great episode, always see myself coming back to this one to watch again. Lovely collection. True gent.
Talking watches turned out to be a lot more interesting than I expected. I usually wear big flashy watches that are more for fashion then for history. I like to think of watches as male jewelry disguised as utility. But it's interesting to see why other men wear them.
Would enjoy seeing an update on Kendrick's collection. Sounds like a guy I would like to sit down and have a pop with. A really good ball player with an interesting story regarding his watch passion.
Leica photographer, baseball player, wears vintage Rolex on Natos. My kind of guy.
He is a rare kind of celebrity you could sit down with and have an actual conversation about normal people stuff.
Jake all I know is he just had 2 runs and 3 hits in the nlcs for my hometown nats 😎
@@jeeefthegreat7555 we don't speak broke here
This is by far the best talking watches. Howie is a decent chap and clearly very humble.
Totally agree! Most"high end collectors" on here seem to primarily have AP's and Patek. For me, the vintages are the ones that really appeal. They somehow feel like hey have more character. I enjoyed this pisode more than I have any other so far.
completely agree.
John Mayer is tied for first!
Love the fact that a guy like him really knows his watches. I mean, he knows what hes taking about!
Dude has great taste.
dude is cool as fuck
Love this guy's enthusiasm and passion. Unlike many athlete's who just want watches for the 'bling' factor, he's very knowledgeable and likes the quality and history of vintage. Top man Howie, much respect!
Certainly atypical for an athlete to have such a refined taste. Refreshing. Major points for the DSA.
I love how he refers to John Mayer as “One of the guys” from talking watches.
As I Giants fan, I hate how much I like Howie Kendrick now. Great interview!
Exactly...LOL
As a British guy with no knowledge of the baseball world, this was a really great interview. What an interesting, humble and thoughtful chap. Watch Talk feels like a way to “meet” people from other walks of like that otherwise I would never have exposure to.
Best episode by far; totally unexpected. A big tattooed person in thumbnail; Ultra kind knowledgeable tasteful and humble guy.
He's not particularly big, and what do tattoos have to do with anything?

Very honest, non-douchey episode.
Really like Howie's taste. Also seems to genuinely take pleasure in his simpler watches. Grounded dude.
Ben Jones .
One of the best watch videos I've seen on any channel. Kendrick is a true renaissance man -- and he shoots with a Leica Monochrom -- much respect.
Brava.
Jays fan but very happy for Howie and his team tonight though, class act.
the best episode to me, thus far. such a humble guy who knows his stuff.
wow, his photographs are stunning!

A man who's grail watch is a Datograph is a man I can respect.
3 years later and Howie Kendrick is hitting grand slams in game 5 against his former team to reach the nlcs
One of my favorite episodes of Talking Watches for sure. Such a humble, laid back guy.
Hands down, Howie has the best collection so far of all the guests that have been on the show. Beautiful stuff.
One the few shows on youtube for the 1%. Maybe not this episode, humble dude, humble collection.
x kaarshe hardly. Most of Howie's watches are vintage and accessible to middle class folks.

Yeah! You always do pick humble lovable people. Mr. Kendrick is fun to listen to! great photography!
Man, what a down to earth guy. He has such a warm and honest collection as well. Fantastic episode. I’d love to check back in with him all these years later and see how his collection has grown.
This guy is great. A real renaissance man. Sports, art, culture....a man to admire.
Love his unique style in staps. One of the coolest episodes!
Leica monochrome and some incredible vintage timepieces.....dude is livin my dream. LOL. Ohhhhhh, forgot to mention, a professional ballplayer
The great thing about Talking Watches is that it makes celebrities instantly relatable. Their enthusiasm as hobbyists removes any airs their fame or wealth might confer. I love how sometimes they're even a little starstruck to be in the Hodinkee studios!
Mr. Kendrick seems like such a good dude, regardless of his watch collection. Great episode! One of the best!
Who else has watched this episode and the John Mayer episode multiple times???? 👌🏻👌🏻

great guy. Clutch ball player. Now he's got a big ol monster world series ring to go with those beautiful watches. Kudos to Howie

How have I just now stumbled on this channel! I've been fixing watches for 5 years now and this satisfies my interest in collecting greatly
Love his taste.
This bloke really appreciates what tool watches were designed for. Brilliant episode, a one cool bloke.
Great collection, great conversation!
Like the small Omega RAF.
Have similar one ant it changed my persecution of watch sizes…
Thanks for sharing!
Watch collector and World Series star!

This is one of my favorite episodes.
Wow, great vintage tool watch collection and Howie predicted the future on the return to smaller case trend.

Howie is fascinating in this Talking Watches. Love his taste in watches and photography. What a cool dude.
Great taste
Man, what a cool dude
Really liked this episode! Ben is an excellent interviewer and Kendrick a vintage collector that I can relate to. Very cool gents!
THANK YOU Ben, one more fenomenal collector.
Great episode!
BACK IN 2020! LOVED HIS COLLECTION!
What a great interview……this guy is amazing! So much talent and diversity. The photos are spectacular ❤️
Totally fell in love with Howie, knows his stuff, humble guy, very honest, no pomp and flash.
this guy made me run into an antique watch store lol
Pankaj Ahuja stanced e30, really??......dude...........😔
This collection epitomizes all the watches I’m interested in! Love the red submariner! Howie seems like a class act!
Fantastic guy! Howie, I’ll buy you a drink anytime and we can talk watches. Pro baseball player, watch collector and photographer. awesome!
This is the best talking watches I’ve ever seen .... solid yellow gold
Dang this dude has impeccable taste, great episode!
Forgot to talk about the Panerai on the wrist I suppose :/
And the 389 on the table
The bronzo!
did the same with John Mayer's gold daytona
I think they should re-shoot for those that have been forgotten :) I really wanna see them
It's a PAM 382 and its retail is around $11000. There was also a 389 on the table but no word about it either. :(
Perhaps my favorite collection of any guest. Dig his utilitarian style.
Beautiful collection of time pieces.
The 5513 is just incredible, that bezel!
Great collector
What a great interview. Glad I started watching the older videos.
This is by far my fave episode. His taste for vintage utlility watches mirrors my own. Great collection!
This guy is cool and humble and he does have a cool collection
This is one of the very best episodes
He likes vintage larger models so I would definitely recommend an Omega Flightmaster!
Talking watches turned out to be a lot more interesting than I expected. I usually wear big flashy watches that are more for fashion then for history. I like to think of watches as male jewelry disguised as utility. But it's interesting to see why other men wear them.
I am now a Howie Kendrick fan. Great dude.
An episode with Watchanish would be awesome.
Wow! I really liked his collection.
That Tudor is beautiful. Such a down to earth dude.

Nice to see him staying in D.C. Would love to see a follow up with his collection too
This was one of the best episodes. This guy has good taste.
What a great discussion with a pleasant, engaging person. Thanks for this.

Fave episode in the series, great guy and great watches.
....love vintage watches. .....great Ep.
This is my favorite episode. He is very well spoken. Cool dude.
Absolutely loved each and every piece! The Man has a style. Great work by @hodinkee by finding these kind of unique collectors :)
Never seen him before - what a kind guy!

This guys collection mirrors a collection I would have. Deep Sea alarm, Bund, Vintage Subs, Speedmaster, Awesome to see man.

thumbs up
just love his passion about his collection
and lastly the watch on his wrist is a guppie in bronze
Nice COD
We had those when I was on the Nimitz Med cruise in '75-76
I love Howie for putting his watches on the rubber Natos.. just tried it on and I absolutely love it. Sits very low on the wrist. Just great 👌
