I had my tonsils finally removed when I was 32. Best thing I ever did! My constant sore throats and infections finally went away. It also stopped my sleep apnea and made breathing properly through my nose so much easier. It was not a bad recovery at all!

As a former FA, I can tell you that it's common for most of us to suffer from sleep apnea (largely due to diet, irregular sleep patterns, and unavoid stressors). The polysomnographic (sleep) study is really simple. You'll just have to remember not to pull the monitor off in your sleep. Depending on the severity of the condition, you can be prescribed a CPAP or given certain meds that prohibit you from falling into the deepest states of sleep. Glad you're safe and that things worked out with your car. As always, thanks so much for sharing...

I feel bad for you. Been there, my tire shredded completely and break fluid coming out. It popped in the middle of the bridge with no stopping lane. It was scary, I was waiting for 4 hours after work. You lucky than me.

Most new cars come with a manual jack to change your tire. You should look into it. It’s a lot faster than waiting for a tow truck and beneficial to know.

Tire blow outs happen atleast once a month for me in my Big rig. It really is not a big deal. If it is a front tire obviously you could lose control, but I am used to it.

Having my tonsils and adenoids out was a shitty 3-5 days. Had them out in my late 20's. I've had much worse procedures ( im now late 40's). But since I couldn't swallow I lost 25 lbs i just had ice cream, broth and juice/water for the week. I slept pretty much around the clock.
But I used to get tonsillitis every month or two. Haven't been sick like that in years. So it was worth it for a very shitty week.

If you do not have a Jack in your car, you can buy one. Go to harbor Freight and by a 2 ton jack. The name is Pittsburgh Automotive. It is like $40. Keep it in the back. Could of save you a lot ot time and money since it cost you your trip.

I have sleep apnea because of my large tonsils. I had two nights of home sleep tests. It was easier than going in for one. I have been on cpap for two years. That’s a big game changer, it’s very difficult to get used to, but you have to keep at it. Good luck!

I have had allergy shots for quite a few years. I learned that after 5 or 6 years, you can stop them, but there is a chance your allergies come back. Well, mine didn't and I was really happy with that development. The down side is that you have to go every week for the first coupe of years, then you go evey two weeks and then every three weeks. It is quite a committment. Worth it in my book but with your irregular work schedule it may be hard for you. But still, I recomment allergy shots to everyone who doesn't ask me.

Hunter, first - yeah, the pain level for tonsillectomy afterwards makes strep seem minor, according to people I know who have been there. And, the tonsils do perform a function of filtering against certain bacteria. I hope you can hold on to them. Like you as a kid I had 3 or 4 bouts a year with them. As for the missed trip mark, I sure hope this ‘point’ against you will be expunged from your record

The tire insurance is the best thing. When i had honda they did it all with insurance. My latest car had me pay out of pocket and i had to follow up with insurance company. That was tedious but they paid for the replacement! When inwas working inwas getting like 2 flats a year. Go figure!

Were they able to tell you why your tire lost pressure so quickly? I'm assuming that it wasn't something that could be fixed, since you need an entirely new tire.
Also, when you showed the tow truck enroute map, I noticed that you have the same insurance that I do. I have the roadside assistance plan, too, and have found it quicker to call someone myself, rather than have them send someone. I then turn in the bill to the insurance company for reimbursement.

I had my tonsils out when I was 9. It was a piece of cake. I also had septoplasty and all that other sinus surgery a few years ago and they said it was a really bad surgery...it wasn't. I was off the pain meds the next day. It depends on the person how you recover. If you do have sleep apnea getting tonsils and adenoids out may help it. My sinus surgery got me off CPAP. Good luck. Do it while you're younger so it's easier!

In the 1980's, I had a tire blow out driving my AMC Gremlin across the Gandy Bridge. I had to drive it s l o w l y as it had blown down to the rim. Fortunately, it was a sunny day; those gut-buster thunder storms are like no fun at all when all the tires are working! You are correct, Hunter, to "find the purpose, find the good" in this "unexpected situation." Check with the gal who replaced you on the flight, if anything unique or odd or maHvelous happened to her? Peace out!

I had my tonsils out at 50. I'm now 54. Lost count on how many times I've had strep throat and then started getting tonsillitis before I had them removed. Post-op is very rough but I was given a very good liquid pain med. They gave me morphine IV before I was released to come home which I was able to have out patient surgery.

My son had his tonsils out at 22 and yes.... it was horrible. After 2 days at home, he was admitted back into the hospital for 4 days with Epiglottitis. He had a high fever, low oxygen, and severe swelling in his throat. So scary. I don't think I've ever seen him so sick. 😞 In all honesty, it was a trainwreck. Follow your doctor's recommendation. The doctor my son had failed the minute he allowed him to be released after the tonsillectomy without antibiotics. That could've been a game-changer. Healing took longer and he had more hiccups than normal, but he's still happy he had it done - (and that it's over).

Get your tonsils out. I had mine out as an adult. It's no fun getting sick all the time. It was not horrible. I just didn't heal as quick as kids do. Get them out and get pain pills. I had my adenoids out as well. You can do this and years from now you will be so happy. All my tests for sleep apnea were done at an overnight clinic with the wires. I can't believe you can do it at home as they have to physically monitor you and help you to the bathroom with all the wires. Please let me know what you decide. I had strep throat so many times that I got bad blood results with HIGH white cells. You will not be tired like you are now. There are local places that will come out for a tire, jump start, etc. if you google the area you are in. You will be less vulnerable to other illnesses with your tonsils out. Buy yourself a jack. New cars are not providing spare tires. I hate the days when it rains it pours with bad things. Have a better day tomorrow.
