Marcus Foster performs 'I Was Broken' for The Crypt Sessions
-----------------------
Marcus Foster is a very talented young man indeed. Still only 24, he's just earned himself a master's degree in sculpture from the Royal College of Art and has already exhibited at the Saatchi gallery with a hot air ballon fashioned from cold steel. Next weekend he's dj-ing on the main stage at the Wilderness festival. And with his nu-folk singer-songwriter's hat on, he's about to release his first album, Nameless Path, on Communion Records. How he had time to come and play for us at The Crypt Sessions is anyone's guess, but we're extremely glad he did.
Marcus's big musical break came when Let Me Sign, a song he co-wrote with buddy Bobby Long, was recorded by schoolmate Rob Pattinson for the soundtrack of the first Twilight film. But when you hear him play, it's pretty obvious that Marcus would have risen to the surface anyway. A keen student of Tom Waits and Bob Dylan, he is blessed with an exceptionally soulful voice, a poet's handle on the human condition and a range of musical expression to match - from the galloping Stones bluesiness driving album track Shadow Of The City, to the dusty, spaghetti western sprawl of Circle In The Square. He also has friends in all the right places. But as The Independent said, 'Remarkably talented and excitingly different, Foster shows he's worth the celebrity endorsements. And proves he doesn't need them either.'

I never tire of Marcus singing this song. So much emotion. 👏👏👏 💗💗💗
LOVE MARCUS FOSTER SINGING ALL OF HIS SONGS BUT THIS IS ONE OF NY VERY FAVORITES. THE EMOTION HE PUTS INTO HIS SONGS IS AMAZING. ❤❤❤❤
I came here to hear the original. I heard Rob Pattinson's version. Thanks Rob, your version is great, and now have an artist I have never heard of before on my song list. Never heard of this guy before. Great song!
Absolutely amazing
Marcus Foster seems so honest. I like everything about his music because everything seems like it's actually him.
I still love it❤
Song is "I Was Broken". The description/review is spot on! He's got that certain something that both breaks your heart and lifts your spirit at the same time. Live performances are transcendent. You will never be the same after seeing his live show.
Idk how I'm cope trying not to hurt anymore

I think you nailed it.
Nice voice, interesting songs. Thanks for uploading the videos.
nice!
Chris Gaul sent me here...well not me personally, but I am not feeling it. I guess I would have to listen several times and maybe it's a matter of it relating to the lyrics. Maybe it's knowing the backstory. Or knowing the artist, I will keep listening to his stuff and come back to this ;)
Where is Marcus Foster?
Song title is 'I was Broken'. Our Bad.
Rob gives credit to Marcus as the writer of the song
0 dislikes, i should think so...
Erm...I have a recording on my phone of robert Pattinson in a bar singing this song years ago, maybe he's the writer as they are friends
Love this song but your clip calls it "faint stir of madness" oops. It's called I was broken
