    Remembered I watched this a year ago. Back then I bought some job lots, but it's been tucked away all this time. Just got it out and been sorting it. Kilos of the stuff. Bit overwhelmed really so had to come back to this video to renew my enthusiasm. So thanks again for this one Nic. Brilliant.

    I've watched a few of your videos now and I'm so jealous of your set up, the garage conversion is unreal!
    Where would you say the best place to source Lego would be?
    I've been scouring the FB Market Place and eBay, would you say the best way to go is to buy mixed job lots or buy complete sets and take a smaller profit? (if you can get a good price in the first place)
    I'm new to reselling and I'm looking to get into it the right way!
    Thanks for all the help so far!

    Nic, I really like your channel. You're quite detailed and have some genuinely great tips from general to quite specific. I've sold a couple of Wii's. I've just started this stuff - went with dabbling in consoles to start me off, and for example, as you suggested in another video: check inside for the cards. Never thought of that. I know I'll learn a lot from you.
    What would you say is a decent price (for a reseller selling on) for a kilo of lego currently? I know there are factors and such but a rough estimate.

    Just managed to buy around 10kgs of unsorted lego for £30. Lots of star wars pieces, specialist bits and of course the dreaded mega bloks pieces and random stuff like a Sanyo remote control - lol. One thing that always concerned me about Lego is the time it takes to check through and sort, what did you find was the best strategy for sorting? I'm thinking pull out anything none lego, pull out the mini figures and large specialist pieces (the obviously valuable stuff), then do a final pass trying trying to make groups of things like wheels etc in small tubs. I'm starting to get buyers remorse with all the work I'm seeing in front of me, any help would be much appreciated.

    • @NicHills
      @NicHills  Před 9 lety +1

      Retro Pickings Yes, what you said is about right, pull out the valuable stuff to sell in small lots, get rid of all the rubbish and then list it all, yes it can be a lot of work, I always say, anyone can make money, if you are prepared to work....
      At £30 for 10 Kg you did well, if you want a quick cash in, you could simply take out all the rubbish and list it as a job lot and make a very nice profit - or just list it as 10 x 1kg bundles... easy peasy, what you can get out of it is simply down to how much time you want to put into it :)

    Hello there, iam still new but trying to start a LEGO business as well. I never really pay to much atention for it until late summer last year. Now i just love it, such an amazing product. I do have a few ideias that i want to try that i would like to share with you, but i do have a few questions, like for example, is it viable to buy and resale LEGO from ebay or you use it only for sales?
    Now some of my plans is to have a facebook store using facebook adds to promote my business and also try opening a shopify store. Would you think it can be a viable option? Since ee dont really have garage sales here in Portugal i find it hard to ger cheap productos for resale so iam trying to adapt somwhow. Thanks for your time.

      there is no secret.... sell it by the kilo or in small lots by the part number - the demand for lego is huge anybody can sell it :)

    Hello. Would you recommend selling Lego blocks by colour, or just an assortment of different colours?
    Regards

    • @NicHills
      @NicHills  Před 9 lety

      james evans You may be able to ask a higher price for sorted bricks but I am not sure it is worth your time, plus if you simply do random bricks you can sell multiple lots from the same listing saving time and effort :)

    Nic, do you ever wash the lego parts before you sell it ?, I know some pieces can be quite dirty threw use sometimes. Thank you.

    • @NicHills

      ***** I have only done that with base boards, it is not worth the time generally.

    • @Baron-Bagaten
      @Baron-Bagaten Před 9 lety

      Nic Hills Thank you Nic, my other question is...reading threw the comments and answers, I gather when you were active buying Lego, you purchased most if not all of it via eBay !, would you still consider eBay a good place for a re-seller to purchase Lego given that there are so many re-sellers into Lego and on eBay now, or was this also the case when you were actively buying to resell ?. Thank you.

    • @NicHills
      @NicHills  Před 9 lety

      ***** Ebay is still a great place to source stock - the best way is to find local pick up lots, that way you are competing against less people - plus we found that going for the massive collections ruled most people out due to the level of investment needed, we spent up to £1000 a go on huge collections and job lots, at that level the competition is minimal...

    Hi Nic, although I really do enjoy Lego and think it's a wonderful medium for all ages, I can't quite understand the value that it holds in the market place.
    After all, most Lego pieces are manufactured in there millions and far more even. So how come second hand Lego fetches such good prices ?. We are talking large sums of money for a single kilo of mixed plastic bricks on eBay !. Why is Lego consistently fetching large sum's of money for small quantity's of items given that there are millions upon millions out there already.
    Hope you can shed some light on what I have been missing, as I'm a collector and really confused by prices and the quantities manufactured every year, Lego bricks, parts, figures and everything else, can hardly be classed as rare !. Supply and demand !....well, there are huge amounts online to be had. I'm wondering if my collection will one day be worth far less than what I have invested. Do you have any thoughts on collecting and the selling of Lego, as I know you once traded in it in a big way.
    Thank you.

    • @NicHills
      @NicHills  Před 9 lety

      ***** It is so expensive to buy new... simple as that.... so people are prepared to pay decent money for it used... also the specialist collectors & builders know exactly which bricks they want and are happy to pay a premium for it as there is no other easy way to get them...

    • @Baron-Bagaten
      @Baron-Bagaten Před 9 lety

      Nic Hills Hi Nic, and thank you for your reply plus information. Would you consider Lego to be a good investment ?. I'm suggesting Buying and storing it away for a few years.
      I have noticed several sellers on eBay who appear to have 'huge' quantities of Lego bricks that are all Brand New and available in any quantity !. Is it possible to buy Lego parts as a wholesaler direct ?, as I really don't understand how they can possibly acquire so much brand new Lego otherwise ?. Thank you.
