  • The Waldorf Blofeld Multimode turns the synth into a 16 track monster! Layer sounds for thick pads, split the keyboard to play bass and melodies at the same time, use the Velocity range to dynamically switch parts and use it as a drum machine.

Yes, it is one of the best synthesizers I have, mine is a keyboard version with SL license for WAV-PCM samples.
It has a short DSP, but I always use one sample per preset without processing anything and trigger 16 samples with my MPC.
It is curious that it is the only Waldorf synth with 25 voices of polyphony, the largest of this brand's hardware machines in 2024.
I like the filters and distortions, 1 drive in each of the 2 filters + one in each FX slot can make x4 distortions.
The entire synthesizer is modular, without using the matrix mod, and I like the ultra-fast LFOs to use them as subtractive oscillators in addition to the 3 it has.
Everything is customizable and has the original Waldorf Wave wave tables, also the multifunctional 68 wave table that only Blofeld has.
I also use the stereo outputs to record 2 audio tracks in Logic Pro, I can put a bass in L and a pad in R or a PCM piano in L and an Organ in L. My prophet 12 is pibitmbirco and Blofeld gives me the same possibility with 2 outputs for 2 parts.
The paregiator is very powerful, it is 25-note polyphonic, it has a function to detect fat or overlapping notes (it is not a chord memory but I use it as if it were), it works like a step sequencer, but it is much more comfortable with Beat Step Pro.
It is not a cheap synthesizer, my keyboard has Fatar keys and it is a metal keyboard like the Clavia Nord Wave/ NodLEad and everything you need in a poly-aftertoutch synthesizer, with modulation wheels, connection for a sustain and volume pedal...
I use the Edisyn editor to make morph sounds with 4 presets combined, it's a great free option for mac and windows.
Very happy since 2009, it is a great piece of hardware that has allowed me to make many successful songs and because of inflation it recovered its initial price in the market of $800, the module about $500, but I bought it for much less money than what it costs today, I also suffered for years from Waldorf's abandonment of improving the Firmware of this synthesizer. It took 10 years to make it work a little better.
The best thing about this super synthesizer:
My advice is always, if you want to buy a synthesizer, first see if it has a large community where you can share user things, have ample information to learn synthesis and user tricks.
It's no use having an $8,000 Oberheim if only 4 millionaires have it, but a DX7 or anything compatible with the DX7 presets is a great investment, thousands of sounds from thousands of users collected for more than 40 years.
Blofeld has a very large community of users, so it is also a good buy, although it is now much more expensive.
Waldorf was always an expensive brand, although its $6,000 Waldorf Wave in 1993 was the best investment for a few because you had 8 Waldorf Waves for $6,000 thanks to its 8 multi-parts, it was dubbed a super synthesizer just like the PPG.
With blofeld you have a super synthesizer with 16 blofelds in one for 500 dollars for the module and 800 dollars for the keyboard.
Thanks for the demonstration, this machine does everything, it sounds great.

Amazing, Waldorf would be stoked by such a lovely review. I hope they continue making it, or maybe a v2 one day.

@@optoproductions Yes, it is Waldorf's best-selling synthesizer in the past, it was sold for 10 years even with the firmware without improvement, it is such a rare synthesizer at the same time.
I use a Waldorf blofled + Pulse 2 and I insert the blofeld audio through Pulse 2, the combination is brutal, for a hybrid keyboard set, this would be a blofeld v2 for me, with improved DSP and antialiasing of FPGA's + VCA' s...
They stopped making Pulse 2, now it is only in the used market, I bought mine new, it is a great analog piece, they never made a keyboard version, but practically Pulse 1 and 2 are the Waldorf minimoog's and the 8 voice paraphonic mode is crazy when I combine it with blofeld. 🙂👍

      @@optoproductions Thanks for the reply.
Last year I joined their website but have never been notified of anything. once or twice a year I check their site but never seen it on sale.
There's no way I would ever pay full price for it, $30 is the most and even that would hurt.

    Thank you for your video.
When running different 16 Blofeld patches (instruments) in Logic Pro at the same time, some patches sound like they are cut down and I understand that there are limitations in MultiMode. How do you work with Blofeld in DAW?
    Thanks and take care.

      @optoproductions  Před 4 měsíci +1

Yeah I'm not sure when this is the case, but since there's only one stereo output anyway I typically record one part at a time.

Blofeld has only 25 voices for 16 parts, so be aware of too much chords or poly patches 😊
