I LOVE that look of shock on Loralie's when Emily proudly pats her on the shoulder, assuring her she is going to be just fine. Loralie is shocked because she has wanted this approval ALL HER LIFE, but tragically it took her father having a heart attack and Loralie having to show Emily how to manage Richard's affairs.
Everything with Emily is a double-edged sword. Including backhanded compliments. Even unintentional ones. Especially unintentional ones.
I love to role reversal lor upset about the divorce but ‘em is like hip hip
I do love this scene because Emily finally admits that lorelai did ok for herself
Imagine how well and relieving it feels for Lorelai to get her mother’s approval
Only for it to disappear the next morning, it was truly so upsetting, and I was so angry at Emily for taking it all away.
Then Emily HAD to ruin their potential bond by being cold and distant the next morning. Such a shame, I felt bad for Lorelai.
No because season 7 is easily nearly everyone's least favorite season (including mine), but there are some moments here and there that are decent enough to get through. This is one of those scenes, in my personal opinion, because this was one of those rare moments where Lorelai and Emily are getting along. I loved Emily's support here, and Lorelai really needed to hear this from her. I'm just glad that the show ended on a high note because I didn't want season 6 to be the last season with the way it ended because it was obvious that it couldn't be the end. Despite the fact that this final 7th season didn't have Amy Sherman-Palladino as a showrunner, I'm glad it happened because they were able to wrap up a few things. (I still pretend the revival doesn't exist, by the way! I consider AYITL a reunion special event in honor of Edward Herrmann because his tribute was lovely ❤)
Season 7 was actually an improvement to me.. and finding out that the show runners were different explained why.
@@citydweller99 Same here. Seasons 6 and 7 were the two worst seasons by far, but 7 is a little bit better for me, and I think it was because of scenes like this. The dialogue quality dipped without ASP at the helm, but you could tell she was upset around the time of season 6 and the ill will she had (justified or not) was sort of reflected in the storylines. In season 7, you can see that the writers were doing their best to keep to the spirit of the series... The dialogue wasn't as great, but the emotional bits still hit because there were still people in the writing room who _cared_ about the characters and wanted the show to end on a good note.
@@EmphaticNodI totally agree with you! 💯
@@EmphaticNod Oh I like this take so thank you for saying this!! Looking back, I find myself enjoying season 7 more than season 6 because season 6 with the rift between Lorelai and Rory as well as the whole April stuff ruined some of the core relationships of the show! I’m glad we have season 7 because we got the ending we deserved with the characters we have grown attached to. I love the finale :)
@@citydweller99 absolutely! It was much easier to get through compared to season 6 (my favorite part about season 6 was seeing the new and improved Jess btw! I’m Team Jess simply because of how they changed him for the better ❤️)
I love this conversation between Emily and Lorelai, Emily proud of the woman Lorelai became
The nicest conversation they’ve ever had
This scene is so sweet 💕💕💕
The actress playing Emily had verve and spirit, she was the best in the series.
Did Emily grab a bowl of nuts from behind the books in the shelf?! What just happened?! 😂 2:56
She did and I’m distracted trying to figure out what the story of them being there is lol
Likely hidden from Richard due to his new dietary restrictions
Ty I was wondering if anyone noticed that haha
Molotov mocktail is the best thing I’ve heard all day
I always felt that Chris and Lorelai needed this failed marriage, otherwise they would never have been able to get over their childhood romance. The marriage and subsequent divorce really closed that book.
My fave moment of this season ❤
The characters during seventh season were all messed up in the sense that they weren’t really themselves anymore, more like a caricature.. you can tell the original creators had dropped the ball
lol that’s the because the original writers didn’t serve as writers and/or show runners for this final season.
The original creators weren’t there. So if you mean dropped the ball by not being there… we’ll sure.
@@markreid6318 And they needed to leave... season 6 wasn't any better if I recall
They were messed up because Amy Sherman-Palladino left them all in a messed up place before she left the show following season 6; maybe even intentionally sabotaging it, one could speculate... You can tell the season 7 writers were running themselves ragged trying to resolve all the annoying conflicts she threw in, and I imagine it was very hard. Honestly, I think they did the best they could with the scraps they were given. Season 7 feels different, but at least it has a decent ending that doesn't feel too manic and rushed.
@@EmphaticNodyou sound like you are personally involved in this situation
Unpopular opinion: I think seasons 6 and 7 were the best. Great writing of more realistic and relatable characters except for the whole Luke and April thing.
I didn't know this scene existed because I really hated how season 6 was going and hated the first episode of season 7 that I didn't bother watching the rest of season 7. That being said, this is a really good scene and I wish we got this Emily and Lorelai connection earlier.
Lmao same!
2:38
In retrospect none of us saw this coming at the time, this would foreshadow Richard's death and Emily's spiral into chaos.
Why are there nuts behind books in the bookshelf? XD (2:55)
Was Emily drunk here? The Emily we all know wouldn't act this way, with such a dawning comprehension... LOL
Lol. Yes, Emily was tipsy..they were drinking Richards scotch, neat, no soda no chasers. 🥃
@@mariastella Who is Christian? His name is Christopher. And Emily didn't know any such thing. She always thought they should be together. That was both families plan for them as teenagers.
@@patpeters6331 So sorry
Save the Cornish game hens!
LOL sometimes its cute and funny to me that Rory's face does'nt really match the urgency of what she says, But that's part of her appeal. She kind of has a Macaulay Culkin vibe like she could be his sister.
Kinda like drunk Emily
I'm confused, I watched Gilmore Girls so many times - Lorelai was married? Damn am I having a stroke?
i don't understand why would lorelai and christopher get divorce?
Chris thinks that Lorelei still has feelings for Luke and that maybe they got married too soon after they (Lorelei and Luke) broke up
oh really?
I dunno. I don’t mind Lorelei but let’s not pretend her life has been happier or better than Emily’s life. Being all by yourself ain’t all that great.
In Lorelai’s case, it would be better to be alone than with Christopher.
Worst season ever. Turned Lorelei into crazy woman. Broke Luke. Ran back to worst man ever Chris....
