I think somehow, Cher being a singer in real life, it didn't fit in with the others! With the others being very capable of singing but not being singers for real it comes across as more genuine when they suddenly burst out into the song. Does that make sense? In cher's songs there was also a lot of autotune used.
No one deny that Cher is iconic singer. We all know that. I just felt like her voice didn't fit to ABBA songs. I don't know why but i agree with the author of the comment that she and especcially her voice didn't suit for the movie.

This movie was the best sequel o have watched in a long time. The resemblance between the legacy cast and the older actors was astonishing and they nailed each character on the head.

Lilly was the best singer. Young Harry (sorry cant remembe the actors name) was just terrible and I'll never understand why he was cast. Pierce Brosnan wasnt that great either. There's a video on youtube somewhere, sorry dont have a link, explaining that when they were making the movie all the cast singing was pre-recorded except Lilly when she's singing Mamma Mia. That just prooves to me that they thought she was the best.
Well, almost all movie soundtracks are pre recorded, the music people just happened to like Lily’s live singing for that song more. Also, Broadway people like Jessica Keenan Wynn sing live 8 times a week when they do a show and do amazing all the time.
