    Body type is a huge thing that changes how people sprint. If you look at Merlier stage 2 of giro or WVA in Champs their body position is a lot il higher than Ewan and than Cav. Great tips! Loved the break down of the sprint too.

    Great job on breaking down sprints. Your next video should be on maintaining position and when to start it.

    Good tips. I havent done much sprint training yet so my sprint is non existent. Think I'll need to work on these when summer rolls around

    During my racing days I couldn't sprint my way out of a wet paper bag. I was a TT guy. I won only a handful of mass start races over 25 years of racing, and I think they were all in solo breakaway efforts. It didn't matter what sort of training I did, my sprint never really got any better. But I was happy to work for teammates, when I was on good teams, who were much better sprinters, so it worked out ok.

    May I ask: when you start the sprint, are you shifting up to a harder gear before hand or what do you do? I'm not quite sure what to do to accelerate the quickest (down or up?).

    how do you do high cadence standing sprints? its so hard to coordinate hands pulling and pushing pedals at high rpm.

    Do you think a finish line sprint and sprints to bring back a breakaway is different? As for the later you still have a lot of race left.

    Really enjoy the content Jesse. I was just wondering if it’s important to verbalise the “3,2,1,BANG!” as I begin a sprint? 😁Cheers Matt

    I often drop my chain when I change gears during a sprint :-\ Once I also bent the rear derailleur hanger; had to finish my ride by walking, pushing my bike (luckily, I was about 1km away from home). And I suck at sprint, can't even reach 1000W.

    • @davidcummings7735
      @davidcummings7735 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Great suggestion Paul but the segment starts about 20-25 meters after turning a 90 degree left hand corner so not much lead out area to assist, even a direct tailwind doesn't help the lead up to segment so I guess it's just about ramping up my power and technique.

    Whats your opinion on breathing while sprinting? Should you try to breath deeply and rapidly in order to sustain higher power, or should you focus more on keeping your diaphragm and other stabilizer muscles engaged for a strong core

    • @nerocoaching
      @nerocoaching  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Hold breath for short sprints if possible, will need to breathe in longer sprints. Not sure on exact durations, never tested it, but that's what I do.

    How would you shift during a sprint with a non-billion dollar groupset that can't even cope with 400 watts?

    • @nerocoaching
      @nerocoaching  Pƙed 2 lety +2

      I raced with SRAM Force mechanical for a year, and Shimano Ultegra mechanical for a different year. Never had any issues shifting under load. If your groupset can't handle shifting under a decent load that's a safety hazard I wouldn't be riding it at all
