The Boys lifted and carried me through teenage angst. So much passion and fun, fun, fun. Thank you Brian and Carl and Dennis, David, Al and dickhead Mike.
@@finkaiser3994 That sort of fits, as Keith Moon was a huge Beach Boys fan and dearly wanted to play drums for them. Sadly, life was short for both Keith and Dennis.
Really hard to believe this wasn't one of their biggest hits, even considering the era it was released unto - or even why it was held back for 5 years and 5 albums before turning up on LA Light 🤔
Sir---------as I entered above you-------just LISTEN CLOSELY. This gorgeous song is all Carl Wilson ; all of it ------lead, harmonies & falsetto, it's all Carl. -----MJL, 77 y/o, & A lifetime fan since 1962.
@@flashiereagle2213 of course I have and sunflower would be the better of the three in my opinion. With that said, they are way way down the list of great albums of the 1970s.
The way this melody works, you could blend in Surfer Girl like in medley fashion. This is the first time I have heard this. This brings up the easy and laid back vibe of California (in its best times) that Brian Wilson put to music. How did I ever miss this little gem? Thanks for putting this up.
i simply love this, have done for years, but the first time i heard it was on the cover album, Caroline Now! , beautifully done by The David Ritchie Coalition. i thoroughly recommend the whole album.
Every new BB song I hear always becomes my new favorite song, and this is no exception. So mellow and relaxing, and the magical Carl at his best. We miss you Carl and Dennis. ❤❤
I can imagine the sadness hearing Casey Kaaem announce this song dropping off the Top 40 countdown, one week after it debuted and peaked at #40. Good going America, you heathens.
I always thought LA was an underrated album. I mean, apart from that disco version of Here Comes The Night, I don't think there's anything outright bad on the album... Yes, I thought Sumahama was kind of charming.
Love this song. Remember seeing the Beach Boys with America and Three Dog Night. What a show. Carl, Dennis, Mike, Al, Bruce were all there; Brian, too, in spirit.

The song needs a bridge with a different melody or a typical Brian Wilson trip into the ethereal to make this a true classic. The song is perfection in terms of what's there, but lacks the complexity one wants to hear in a Brian song. This "The Little Girl I Once Knew"...
Dennis actually did drum on this track…just it was five years prior to the track being released (complicated but the backing track was recorded in 1974).
One of the most beautiful songs that Carl Wilson sang lead on. Really incredible tune.
One of my favs
Carl's singing voice is profound.
Carl's voice is awesome. I miss him.
Mike couldn't resist looking at his watch to illustrate the concept of timing :-)
good for him, Mike's awesome too
gibb253 question for you. Does Mike love???!!!!
If I was Dennis I would've knocked Mike love out as well. I'm sure he had his reason
Ha, classic mike
The odious Mike Love
i use this song as my wake up alarm
Lol. I use it as my ‘time to go home’ alarm (from the office). (I’m easily distracted!)
Magikrazy, what a absolutely wonderful way to start the day. All the best. Take care.
I use Wouldn't It Be Nice as alarm XD
This comment is time ahead in the future, now I use Lady Lynda
Great song, I should do the same.
Carl Wilson. Jeez this guy was the Beach Boys
And a John Ritter doppelganger
The Boys lifted and carried me through teenage angst. So much passion and fun, fun, fun. Thank you Brian and Carl and Dennis, David, Al and dickhead Mike.
Lmfao😂
This made me laugh, thanks
Dennis reminds me so much of Animal from the Muppets playing a slow song.
I swear Animal was based on Dennis.
@@1401minstrel he was actually based on another drummer, ironically... Keith Moon of The Who .
LOLOL

R.I.P. Carl and Dennis Wilson
I miss my long time friend Carl Wilson. I will always remember the good times.
... i remember this playing on the radio on my Mom's Ford Fairmont in 1979... i was 7 years old and still love this track...
I was a disc jockey in 1979 and played the heck out of it. Classic Beach Boys.
Really hard to believe this wasn't one of their biggest hits, even considering the era it was released unto - or even why it was held back for 5 years and 5 albums before turning up on LA Light 🤔
i have a soft spot for this album, prolly THE underrated bbs album.. with 1985 close behind
Thanks for my childhood.
Thanks for my youth.
Thanks for my adulthood.
Thanks for EVERYTHING 💞😊
Love from Kensington and Chelsea in London

One of their better more flavorful tunes of the 1970s.
Have you even heard Sunflower, Surfs Up, CATP or Holland?

You're lucky to have that album. I haven't been able to find it anywhere but Japan, and that's for a used one.

one of my favorites! i was a jr in high school and it got a lot of air play back then
I love the version with Dennis singing lead. "My brother is too scared to sing it"-Dennis lol
Fantastic slow dance ballad !!! Pure perfection !!!
great song ,wish it was longer

belle harmonie des voix ils étaient fait pour chanter ensemble
AMCs American Pop on Saturday nights was when I first saw this. Thank you, Elora.
This is still the essential Beach Boys song for me.
Love this. Don’t remember seeing it before. Thanks!
Never heard of it before. Love it. Thanks 😊
Love this song
Love this song and video
Thanks. I've always wondered if they made a promo for this Single.
Never seen this one! Thanks!
The BBs could do a whole concerts of their songs from 1967 to 1985 or so - none of them really really hits - and it would be great!
I miss Dennis too. The greatest band ever!!!
Not even one single shot of Brian
This was during the time Brian chose to not be in concert.
I always liked this song, but I think they could have put a bridge in it and developed it further. Too short.
❤
Maybe their last classic single
Really glad to see this, thanks so much. Was Brian there?
He’s there to the right, can be seen sitting at the piano at about 1:35.
Good timing on your upload
ba dum tss
epic
It would be better timing if it were a minute or two longer.
Dennis 😂😂😂❤️
Who is doing the falsetto?
Probably Al Jardine
Carl.
Some say Bruce added his own voice while producing what had been recorded years before (which was all Carl.)
It sounds to me like the shy maestro himself, Brian Wilson.
Bruce does

Not one clear shot of Brian in the whole video, although he’s sitting at the grand piano to the far right.
So disrespectful! I was looking for Brian.
This that a MXR phase 90 on Bruce’s electric piano?
It sounds Surfer's Girl's younger cousin.
Al noticeably misses a cue at 0:09 and hits the backing vocals late
