    If I could rant a second here, as a woman I am SO tired of mainstream media forcing in neo-feminism into movies. It's so embarrassing and forced and in a round about way infantalizing women. It's so clear that studios don't really care about women, they care about scoring Twitter points.
    What happened to the older movies that included feminism in such a compelling and subtle way? Or even the movies to weren't sutble about it but still did a great job at handling the message?

    It feels like this movie tries so hard to be "feminist", but comes off more as "hee hoo look woman better then man, woman is strong". Like chill hollywoo, we get it, you think feminist is a selling point. If this movie was a person, they would have such a punchable face.

    • @colbaltmind5696
      @colbaltmind5696 Před 3 lety +186

      Yeah, especially considering the message of the first movie was that true strength, regardless of gender or capabilities, is the capacity for mercy and love for those who cannot protect themselves. But apparently all the sacrifices Steve and others made don't matter anymore if you can just wish it all away.

    • @colbaltmind5696
      @colbaltmind5696 Před 3 lety +154

      And the concept of feminism in media shouldn't even BE a selling point, bc in the first movie was actually feminist because Diana doesn't talk down or act stronger than others, which is what Hollywood thinks feminism is, but she displays her honor and compassion for others in a world that doesn't think a woman is strong, bc just like the war strength in society is defined with violence. Like HOW sad is our world that a woman being an asshole the same way a guy can be is apparently feminist?? That's not even feminism, it's just dressing toxic male ideas in a female coat and pretending that's empowerment.

    You know what would have worked better here was to replace the magic rock and Max Lord with a villain that could actually use magic, like Circe. She can go around granting wishes for people but slowly taking their souls (or something like that). Cheetah would follow Circe willingly out of jealousy for Wonder Woman (for a much better reason), and thus get her powers that way. Trevor will be brought back, but as an actual ghost not possessing someone, and his existence would still drain Diana's powers, so she has to rely on her fighting skills and creativity to save the day.

    I’m glad you acknowledged the first movie in comparison to WW84. Gal Gadot is a great actress and I love seeing her in action; in my opinion she’s perfect for the role of Wonder Woman. The first movie was so much fun and the main characters were all likable. WW84 was... such a downgrade and so disappointing. Never thought I would fall asleep during a Wonder Woman movie but it sure did happen. Even my mom (who is the biggest WW stan I know) griped about a lot of things in the movie. I’m also unsure as to why they casted Kristen Wiig as Cheetah?? Not saying she can’t do serious roles in movies, but I feel like she acts way too quirky for a supervillain role like Cheetah. Anyway rant over. Great video Dumbs ✌🏼It was entertaining and different from a lot of the cut and paste reviews I’ve seen of this movie.
