    From Reddit:
The guy Fallon is playing is Lt. George C. Rice. An honest to god war hero. Rice knew that the 101st was going to be short on supplies and would likely end up surrounded, so he made eight supply runs to bring them ammunition, food, blankets, anything that could be useful, all while the Germans were closing in. His eighth and last run was actually made after the Germans had encircled the 101st, meaning he could have bee captured at any time. He only stopped because his own commanding officer ordered him to do so.
He was nominated for the Medal of Honor for this.

17:20. "You are officers, you are grownups, YOU OUGHTA KNOW!" It really hits hard when Eugene Roe, easily one of the most soft-spoken characters in Easy Company, loses his shit on Winters/Nixon/Welsh. It really makes you realize just how young these guys actually were.

Especially because by now we have such a high opinion of them. There were a lot of personality conflicts that aren't even covered in the show. It's not a spoiler to say that Buck thought Nix was a dick. There's a clip from an interview where he says so. lol

When I hear folks in the US (from the UK personally) complaining about modern issues between genders and all the rest, I often think of this show and the real men that fought and died in horrendous conditions and think... listen to yourselves. People have faced these kinds of things face to face and they deserve enormous amounts of respect. Modern society has no idea. Love your reactions guys, looking forward to the next two episodes with you 👍

At the end when Easy Company went into the woods around Bastogne, they did not know it at the time, they were about to be part of the "Battle of the Bulge", the largest land battle in US Army history, over 600,000 US Soldiers took part, combined with other allied forces, over 1,000,000 allied soldiers fought the German offensive thru the Ardennes Forest.

The germans caught the allies off guard. Instead of retreating, they attacked through the Ardine forrest. Until this happened, nobody thought a army could launch an attack through it. 1st time for everything.

This is a great episode because it shows what you have to give up in this situation. Winters knows that the German he killed was just a kid, but he had to do it. But the kid's face haunts him, and he'll probably never forget it.

Of all the facts about this series the one that always sticks out to me was that the only criticism any of the easy company men ever had of the series was that the depiction of Bastogne did not capture how truly awful it was. I wish everyone to think of that when watching these next two chapters. This series went to great pain and exertion to honor the men and to tell their story as accurately and faithfully as possible, yet all of the men agreed that Bastogne was far worse than depicted. I always remember that, however awful the show depicts it, and it does look awful, that it was even worse, and it humbles my soul.

Sometimes it's a little odd what the show runners choose to show us. For instance, from what we get to see of Winters trip to Paris, you could come away thinking he didn't have a good time there, when in fact, he did. In letters to his pen-pal, DeEtta Almon, he told her he had a good time and did a lot of the typical tourist stuff you would imagine most people doing. But we don't see any of that.

This is the episode when Tom Hanks literally takes the reigns in the series...becoming more introspective with Winters. Long before PTSD was even taken seriously. General Patton famously addressed it with the back of his hand on a soldiers face. Oh and if any of you come across any bacon sandwiches, let me know. Currahee ♠
