- So the question is: Do you spend $30 or $125 on a vertical ergonomic mouse? Does it matter? Will the cheaper one be better or worse? I’ve tested 12 of the most popular vertical ergonomic mice and I’ve got 5 that are worth getting.
Here are the Top 5 along with the Amazon affiliate links:
Logitech MX Vertical Advanced - mreh.ca/3TxdjZG
Logitech Lift Vertical - mreh.ca/3vq6cds
Kensing Vertical Ergonomic Mouse - mreh.ca/4arQ7CK
ProtoArc EM11 Wireless Ergonomic Mouse - mreh.ca/49nShTj
DELUX Rechargeable Wireless Mouse* - mreh.ca/3TuCtbd OR Perixx PERIMICE-819B Bluetooth Portable Vertical Mouse - mreh.ca/3TmDDp2
*I wasn’t able to find this mouse on Amazon.com
For our ranking, I weigh the scores across a multitude of different criteria (15 for vertical ergonomic mice) and wrist pain relief accounts for 35% of the score. If all you care about is wrist relief consider getting the Evoluent Vertical Mouse D. The hand angle is almost 90 degrees so there is no twisting of your forearm at all. Be warned though, it’s the most expensive mouse I’ve tested.

this dog is so focused on his master's speech that it looks like an old physics teacher
Ikr. Its all i can see 😆
Absolutely loved this video and wish you came out sooner. I had to do a lot of research on my own 4 months ago when I needed to replace my mouse, and came to the same top choice with the Logitech vertical. I love the dang thing and it can take a drop or in my case several off my desk. Keep up the great content!
Great video, I love that you mentioned the inclination angle, sometimes it's hard to find. I have an Evoluent D and I love the inclination and the middle button to close tabs, but it's heavy, so I'm gonna try the Logitech Lift next to switch it up from time to time.
Great to see new products being reviewed
Perfect timing. I’ve been planning to pick one up!
Great information again buddy been enjoying your reviews!
Woah I just bought one last week! I was contemplating in getting the Logitech MX Vertical, but in the end went for a UGREEN Vertical Ergonomic 4000DPI. I didn’t want to pay something more expensive without trying it for long usage plus i wanted to test if my wrist would prefer it to my Magic Mouse which died on me!
Got to say I am liking it now even from the get go of usage as it feels at easy using git for long hours. My wrist loves me more these days hahaha 😂
Another entertaining and informative video thank you, for me I recommend the logitech mx ergo advanced wireless trackball mouse, has a bit of a learning curve but solved my wrist pain problem :)
Over time these might cause pain in the joint that connects your thumb to your hand. If that happens, you might want to look at a large trackball like the CST L-Trac
Holy timely video, Aaron. I’ve been in the market for one of these.
Only guy I trust with the reviews
I'm a huge vertical mouse fan, nice to see someone actually review them
Been using the MX Vertical and the matching keyboard for a few years. Love it! I really like the one button tap to tab between desktop, laptop, computer. It was so worth it. Maybe I need a lift though for travel? 🤔
great review, to the point! the angle on the kensington looks interesting to me, afraid that jumping to 57 degrees may be uncomfortable
Thanks for the review. It was helpful.
I understand the subject of the video was specific to vertical mice; however, if you have wrist and shoulder repetitive stress injuries I’d recommend switching from a mouse where you move your arm to ‘trackball’ mouse - MX Ergo by Logitech is the one I’ve found work the best for me but as with switching to a ergonomic keyboard with thumb clusters (kinesis advantage 360 or a custom Crone are the ones I always recommend) the key comes down to optimizing for thumb-use over wrist / arm movement! Also typically as your thumbs are meant for a larger portion of fine-motor movements it’s less strain pretty much right away.
Overall great video and review process and if you are a knowledge worker that spends the bulk of your time on a computer it is totally worth investing in an ergonomic setup for yourself. The time and energy you put in today to reducing as much of the repetitive stress on your body will pay for itself very quickly in my experience.
thanks. it is clear, concise and fun to watch.
Best review on Vertical Mice. You forgot to review the HP 920 Vertical Mouse, it is similar to the Logitech Lift but a bit larger. It includes a wrist rest and tracks on glass :)
I bought the Lift and MX a while back after breaking a ligament on my wrist and spending months in pain using a trackpad. Ended keeping the Lift, which I still used today. The MX was more comfortable, but its size is more difficult to take it outside. Furthermore, for the price difference, I decided to keep the Lift. The wrist healed after surgery, however, I still use the Lift, and now prefer it over any other regular mouse or trackpad.
Man, I was looking for a real person video to test wireless mice and you popped up. Was not expecting such an entertaining & funny presentation, Bravo! Also, you cute pup stole the show by doing absolutely nothing. Well researched and insightful, cheers.
I've been using a similar version of #4 since moving to WFH and it's amazing. Mine doesn't have RGB, which is great and it only cost $20.
Avoid white Logitech products as they seem to discolor and wear off quickly. Mouse discolored within days (chemical reaction, not dirt). Multiple keyboard keys wore off within 18 months. No such issues with the black models, which are great.
Interestingly, I've had quite the opposite experience. My last mouse was a Logitech Lift and I can't get enough of it. I even have one Logitech mouse bought in 2012 and it still looks more or less the same (and works the same).
In my opinion, Logitech's higher-end mice are some of the best quality mice on the market.
For keyboards, I prefer brands like Epomaker, Kiiboom, Keychron. Logitech doesn't exactly make the highest quality keyboards.
I still have the Z5500 speakers from Logitech, bought sometime in 2008. I still actively use them and they work almost like new. (Only the display backlighting is not as strong as the new ones).
Which Logitech mouse do you have a problem with?
Ty. Co-incidentally i'm also considering the Protoarc & MX as well, so this video was perfect for me. The only thing i'd like to know is if the Protoarc's RGB is customizable using something like Signal RGB
Something not many people might consider, but I HIGHLY recommend a Wacom tablet in replacement of a mouse. I purchased one of the about 15 years go to use for digital art and and realized it did not aggravate my hand and wrist pain when I used it exclusively in place of a mouse. You hold it just like a pen.
"Mices," love it.
Woot has a couple of Logitech's on sale this month, I'm feeling tempted because I have their other devices that all work with their Options+ software.
I liked the Logitech Mx Vertical but the lacking support for Logi Bolt made me switch to the Logitech Lift.
It’s pretty small but I got used to it and I’m really happy with it.
For Gaming a different Mouse and you’re all set.
I love these kinds of mice. I rarely use a pc but when I do my wrist always hurts after like 2 minutes unless I’m using a vertical mouse
#1 has a speed scroll mode too! I think the top button switches the modes.
I’d also mention that the MX vertical doesn’t have silent clicks like the lift does. I have the lift but it’s a bit small. I want to get the MX but I hate the loud clicks.
I've considered getting a vertical mouse for a while now but I think I would miss the scroll wheels from my MX Master too much.
Who else is hoping Aaron takes on the challenge of finding the best keyboards for wrist pain next? ⌨🙌⌨
You should test the Contour Unimouse. It's really good, besides the fact that you can't map a middle click to the middle button. It scores high in all of the areas you mentioned as your preferences.
OH, one last thing... The mouse can be both traditional and verticle, so you can adjust the angle to your desired sweet spot. You can also change the thumb grip. How you missed this mouse is amazing.
I use both your number 1 and number 2 pick. Prefer number one because of hand size, it’s a big difference. And it made a difference in my comfort levels within a week!
Mices? Double plural?
Since you did a phenomenal job at recommending an ergonomic mouse, can we get a video for the top ergonomic keyboards? Trying to perfect the telework home office 😅😅 Thanks!!
You should have checked out the UGreen Vertical Mouse. AA batteries, dongle or bluetooth, supports Mac and Windows with toggle. 57 degree angle, good grip. All for just $22.
Hi, helpful review, here is a question: why did you choose Logitech mx vertical on top over Protoarc em11. Thanks.
SO THOROUGH! Thanks!!
Love your channel!
3:22 great vidéo but, picking mouse up from table to readjust can occurs but it's a bad habits, you are supposed to glide the mouse lol
Can you make magsafe car mounts WITHOUT CHARGING please! Love the videos literally just bought items you recommend!
I'm on my 3rd MX Vertical. The buttons wear out way too fast, as does the scroll wheel. Of course, it is still the best option, else I wouldn't keep buying it, just it lacks in certain obvious areas.
Kinda offtopic but what would you recommend for a very thin case for Iphone SE? Doesn't matter what material or color it is
The Logitech Lift is my Goldilocks. Quiet, fast scroller, and fits my hand PERFECTLY. I appreciate the slightly smaller design.
I’ve been using a Logitech lift on my Mac’s without any Logitech software and the side (forward/back) buttons work correctly.
Nice video and testing methodology, but trackball master race.
Best review 😎
Have been using the Vertical MX Advanced for a few years now, removes strain from wrist completely, but in my case lead to tension on the ulnar nerve in some way. Now I have something like a Cubital tunnel syndrome, where my pinky and ring finger both go numb and the whole hand hurts in the morning and through the day. Have to do specific ulnar nerve exercises to make it better. The mouse might be too big for me in the end :( also the rubber coating wears off, especially on the buttons in kind of a nasty blotchy way.
Really wish that productivity mice had onboard memory to save mouse button mapping and macros. I really hate that so many mice require software to unlock all the capabilities of the mouse, especially when I'm not able to download software on my work computer.
To reduce wrist pain I would suggest trying out a drawing tablet instead of a mouse. Wacom and Huion as an example.
Oh huh you guys doing an ergonomic mouse review in the same time my wrist have been getting tired of using a normal gamer mouse
Please could you consider testing trackball mice - no one is doing them as a legally blind person I use a trackball because otherwise I need a huge mouse surface to navigate with magnification. I’m shopping for a new one.
Probably you had to include top end Delux M618XSD vertiacal mouse instead of lower class Delux you presented. This is very good mouse that i use for almost two years, I'd say its better than the logitech ones. It have oled screen with data for battery, connection and DPI selected status, best feature for me is having horizontal thumb wheel, DPI up to 4000, wired/wireless + bluetooth connections, led lights ....
you seem to know a lot about apple. im looking for my 1st iphone. coming over from android. whats the most durable case, that works well with the magsafe, or has one built in thats very durable. ive been with the otter box defender for years. thanks
He's got tons of case reviews, but myself I like esr, especially if you after going to use magsafe. They're magnets are the strongest I've tried. I'm all esr when it comes to magsafe and my phone's is pristine, even when I dropped it on a grocery store floor face down last week because I'm an idiot.
I tried those types of mice and it didn’t work for me. I ended up with using a trackball mouse and it’s been great!
what was the degrees on the ProtoArc EM11 Wireless Ergonomic Mouse?
What are you talking about? I have a Kensington vertical mouse and a Logitech Lift. And both thumb buttons (back, forward) on my macbook air 2020 work out-of-the-box.
I don’t need a mouse……..I’m just here for Monty 👍
I have the exact mouse! I love it.
Well, does have any controller mouse for XR as portable as take with more during all my travel. I am the person who moving a lot.
Why do you need to pick up your mouse? It's designed for sliding, not lift off. If it's sensitive and accurate enough, just position it to where the cursor needs to go.
next time please also say the polling rate, which is way more important than the DPI of the mouse
love this dog
I appreciate you very much
I have a Thrustmaster joystick and I wish it was a mouse cause it's so comfortable to hold.
Hi, I`m suffering of hand pain ( rest, clicking finger), I have try alot of mouse products
the last one was MAX Virtical from Logitech
this mouse is very good for the rest but its buttons have high resistance during clicking which cuased a harmful pain for my figner
advice e please,
Which one is virtical with low resistance clicking buttons ?
thanks in advanve Sir
For FCPX how does it compare to the Logitech MX?
Hi, my employer bought me a DXT mouse 2 wireless version from a company called Ergonomics. I have contacted the company to no avail. The mouse came with a dongle that needed to be paired before I am able to use it. £108 down & 2 months later I am still unable to use it. My employers IT dept asked if there is a driver or software needed to be able to complete the pairing. Would you be able to advise me please. Also if a driver/software is needed which one should be purchased. Thank you in advance
The big issue with the expensive Logitech models is their click switches are cheap shit. Their warranty is for one year, which you should get out of it, but starting somewhere around month 14 -16 you're likely to have your "left click" switch start double-clutching and messing things up. It's a well-documented problem with them and you can try to replace the switch, but it's a lot of little parts moving and de-soldering and soldering is also involved. The switch is around $10, but a good soldering station is around the price of a new mouse.
Your dog is cute. He’s looking at you as if to say “What are you talking about?”
good one brother, time to hang up the tryhard pro gamer gear with lots of strain issues and enjoy the retiree ergonomic gear
Do any of these have left handed versions?
ProtoArc Model EM13 is a left handed mouse however I don't have knowledge about it other than that it exists.
The Logitech Lift Vertical mouse does have a left handed option however it's different than the MX version.
I want to use the MX vertical on Mac, but I cannot get over the fact that Logi Options+ requires the INPUT MONITORING permission. Third party software being able to monitor all keystrokes is a major security leak. Furthermore, the source code is proprietary and Logitech gives very little information on why input monitoring is necessary. I just cannot use this software.
The dog is so interested in what your talking about
For Evoluent 4 macOS users. Don't waste your time trying. Just buy Steer Mouse software. It will be handy for other mouses you use. The change in experience is tremendous. Sadly, the best design has the worst materials possible. But the key is the angle and lightness of the mouse. If you are still frustrated by it, just buy Kensington Expert Trackball and call it a day:)
but, can you play fps with them
Logitech lift for me then! I can’t stand soft touch plastics all over anything, never mind a mouse I’ll have my hands on for hours.
So many of them are not fully supported on MacOS, what the f
Hey buddy thanks for the review but mice is already plural, so "mices" is redundant
Monty always looks at you with such disdain
it’s mouse or mouses mot nice or mices. the ladder is in reference to the rodent.
I’m more of a trackball mouse fan myself. Just me?🤷♂️😬
There is no such word as "mices".
Correct. It's meeces.
Hello. Great Review. Did you notice that some caused you to place weight on your pinky? If so. Which ones didn't?
I've purchased an Anker and it's great. My all day wrist pain has vanished immediately. Although now I have pain because I'm wresting weight on my pinky.
Tyia!
Dog is cute.
Mices? Double plural?
I guess no more videos every week and no more case videos 😢
Most accurate ripoff design wold be portronics toad ergo. Even the buttons are in the same place. Not rechargeable though.
Use a trackball. Logitech trackman eliminated my chronic wrist pain
left handed mouse user....cries
Evoluent has a left handed model
the Lift is available for left handed users, not the Vertical though
I have the Logitech vertical mouse for years and, trust me, better invest on the real thing. Don’t save on ergonomics.
He meant micen
"mices" lol
I used to watch your videos in the past and took a break. I’ve noticed that something has changed in your format. Many of your videos feel like an infomercial. I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe you are talking too fast and cutting to different cameras so quickly. I feel rushed and don’t like the sensation too much. Not sure if others feel this way
Put the video at 0.75x speed, he only sounds slightly drunk. You might like it better. Too bad 0.85x speed isn't an option.
Why would I get something FOR wrist pain? I'd prefer something AGAINST wrist pain please.
😂 you know what he means
Fool of April man
Yes! Why would I want a medicine for allergies? I don’t like allergies so I’m patiently waiting for a medicine against allergies to hit the market.
Thanks Dad! 🤦 😂
MICE NOT MICES just trolling 😂
logitech all the way
second
Trackball.
Hey Aaron, been watching u for years. Why haven’t you done a live chat or Q&A for such a long time…..seems like you don’t care about us any longer and just want clicks. 😔
Umm ..your dog stares doesn't make me comfortable :|
thumbs down for repeatedly saying 'mices'. Mice is the plural of mouse. Stop being annoying.
