@Toughen Up, Fluffy Igor Stravinsky (1882 1971), who composed THE RITE OF SPRING, aka LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS, for orchestra, a work on which this parody is based.
Fun is fun ...but . How can the melodica be taken seriously by other musicians if guys keep presenting songs or music with their dress antics. More melodica music without the gimmicks please.
If you want to see a full version of the song for 4 hands, check out Anderson And Roe. The did the entire Rite of Spring as a pia I duet and the music video is AMAZING!
Ah, a Stravinsky classic played by these two guys on Melodica. They really got the feel of the music, and the atmosphere in outfit and background down. Such talent here.
Actually video games brought me to Stavinsky, The Firebird. A lot of the old 80s video games used melodies from classical music. Some examples: 1. Ghosts & Goblins (C64) used Chopin: Prelude Op. 28 No. 20 in C Minor 2. Elite (C64) used Strauss: An der schoenen blauen Donau, Op. 314 (docking sequence, obviously borrowed from Kubrick's 2001...) 3. Dynamite Dan (C64) used Mozart: Rondo Alla Turca (Turkish march) 4. Super Pipeline (C64) used Debussy: Children's Corner, Movement No. 6, L. 113 Golliwogg's Cakewalk & Paganini: Caprice No. 24 in A minor for solo violin 5. A game about the time after the fall of the Soviet Union (can't remember the name) for Amiga used an intriguing music piece by Stravinsky: The Firebird, Infernal Dance
My goodness. The levels of musicianship achieved here are staggering. Leaving aside the Melodicas, I have NEVER seen bones played like that. So good, it isn't even funny. Extraordinary!
As a budding composer, I studied this work in and out of school... a true benchmark in the history of contemporary music -- one that elicited a riot at its premiere! This "arrangement' of it was sent to me by my editor and had me howling out loud -- truly-- what a GAS !! I loved it, and more than that I was amazed that they actually made it happen! (watch out PDQ BACH, Victor Borge, and all the rest !
Love this! Genius! And a tribute to your ability to really negotiate the extreme difficulties and demands of this amazing piece! Thank you for posting!
Effing brilliant. I know every damn note of this piece. This is by far the best condensed performance of the piece that I've every seen and heard. I'm still trying to stop crying while laughing.
The tragedy is that Stravinsky didn't live long enough to see or hear these 2 cavemen reworking his early 20c ballet. Forget Bernstein/Rattle and the rest. Bring on Melodica Men......they do all the hard work for us!
Frickin brilliant! Like someone below said.... never thought this piece could be played with so few instruments!!! I had not heard your work before, but I'll definitely be exploring. Some serious talent on view in this vid. Thanks so much!
Wow! Having heard the Rite of Spring many times over the last 35 years, I absolutely did not expect that. I would not have thought this possible, but it just shows that with music, anything is possible.
Bravisimo! Never thought this complex piece was actually written for Melodica. 😉 Impressive that it looses nothing of its horrifying strength, creating goosebumps.
What would Stravinsky do if he watched this video? Would he laugh? Would he cry? Would he turn it off? Would he play it again?
All of the above
He had a real sense of humour - but he also loved money, so he might have sued...

Stravinsky IS beaming with pride.
He will claim the royalties 😬
Gonna be honest, never would have figured this was playable without a full orchestra XD
My brother played it in a piano duo. He might have a video on his channel. He's Filippo Gorini.
Bernhard Haas transcribed it to organ, and it's magnificent.
czcams.com/video/bFHyepWyrAM/video.html
I was pretty skeptical that a melodica could do it justice, but they did it awesomely!
It’s playable with two pianos, and even with one piano (and one pianist!)
Stravinsky himself arranged it for 4-hand piano and performed the piece with Debussy in 1912
To get this full of a sound with only 4 hands, 2 mouths, and 2 melodicas is really insane. Your arrangements are so amazing. Well played
4 hands, 2 mouths, 2 melodicas, and an inflatable club
@@pallasproserpina4118 and large bone.
Nathan Grant How could I have forgotten. 4 hands, 2 mouths, 2 melodicas, an inflatable club, and a large bone

Stravinsky: I'll break all orchestral tradition.
Melodica Men: I'll see you two melodicas and a spiked inflatable bat.
yeah honestly he'd probably love this
That spiked, inflatable bat is everything.
🤣🤣🤣
Stopped mid-sacrifice and clicked on youtube as soon as I got the notification

Time for someone to dub this cover over Brett and Eddy dancing.
fourfries
I see that and raise you both channels just collabing
I'd pay to see that
I'm pretty sick right now and I'm really hoping this isn't a fever dream. Wonderful job guys!
Hey I'm sick too
Same here
Wow! Great job (and look- love the dreads!) Thanks for posting this!
Get well, I mean it! 💕
wth, i'm sick too
insane
Meowmeow
I love that you guys went from video games medley to Stravinsky lol
They actually did rite of spring already two years ago with a third player. It's definitely worth watching.
correction, composition went from Stravinsky to video game music.

The fact that it sounds perfect just smashing the instrument its a testament of the rage that this piece evokes 😭😂🫶🏼
豊かな音色と表現力

Wonderful performance - Great look! A++++ I'm off to watch William Tell Overture yet again.....

This gives me joy… Looking forward to hearing excerpts from Part Two - especially the Sacrificial Dance!
That would be awesome. Or maybe the Firebird of Stravinsky?
Some days I watch this several times in a row - it's just freaking perfect! The soul of Stravinsky is in it. Just perfect.
melodica men have gone 100% feral and I’m here for it
This was amazing😂 I love the original version a lot so as soon as I saw the notification, I was all over it. Loved it😂 the costumes were so good😂
Definitely one of the most impressive covers I've seen/heard. You bang a mean bone!

YESS!
This is so unbelievably expressive and powerful. It truly is mastery of the instrument. Bravo.
Fantastic!
I wish Stravinsky had watched this performance sooner😀
This is incredible. We should send this into space on a golden record, or a USB stick or something
The legends have uploaded! Bravo!
You guys are great. This is both funny and reliable to the original version. Congrats and thanks for the good time I had
Never knew melodicas could be so intense.
まじで春祭まるごと聴いたくらいの充実感ある

I fucking adore the background. It's as much poetry as your rendition of the song.
I’d love to hear Orff’s Carmina Burana. You guys are serious musicians with a great sense of humor! Bravo!
Wow! Even with a "regular" orchestra, The rite of spring insn't easy! Congratulations: That was amazing! My little boy loved your interpretation.
Literally the most aggressive melodica playing I've ever seen... Well done!

This brightened a miserable day massively. Thank you!!
春祭なんて難易度の高い曲を鍵盤ハーモニカでやるなんて、思いつくのも実際にできるのもこの2人しかいないんじゃないか(笑)凄すぎる。
I am grateful for the efforts of these talented artists to bring the melodica to a wider audience.
