    this was easily the most helpful video on this subject. i spent several hours watching various ppl go to great lengths with different, unnecessary measures. i wound up using a bit of fishing wire to get me started on each cell (well in truth, i used a thin nylon string from a ukelele), but mostly just used a couple of plastic spudgers i had laying around for the rest of it with zero adhesive removal. very similar to how Hamad uses the spatula here, but the blunt spudgers gave me a bit more confidence in not puncturing the battery cells.

    Thank you, merci! This was a helpful VDO. I had to exchange the trackpad of a late 2013 15 Inch A1398 and was successful with your guide. One tip: I replaced battery 6 months ago, and at that time tapes over half of the glue strips. That way I was able to remove and reinsert the battery without much trouble and without breaking the battery.

      @@HamadBenaicha Removal went well. I purchased an A1417 battery on Amazon.com from a company called Powerwoo. They described 8800mAh. After installation, before calibrating, it showed 8350mAh. After calibration, it now shows 8094 mAh. So I'm disappointed and have requested a return. But that means I need to remove it and try a different battery. Do you recommend any Amazon.com company to purchase a battery? Or elsewhere? Thanks for your help with removing the battery. Really appreciate it.

      @@HamadBenaicha hey Hamad! The installation went great! I swapped out the battery because 1. My Mac suggested it needed servicing. And 2. I thought it might have been the reason some of my keyboard keys had stopped working. Specifically R, T, Y, U, I, O. I read online that the battery could swell and press on these keys making them stop working. However the new battery didn't fix this. I bow own the tools to open up my Macbook myself, is there anything I should be looking for that could be causing this?

    • @macbookrepairtoronto-undoi4020
      @macbookrepairtoronto-undoi4020 Před 3 lety

      @@Simoncanada Hi Simon, you can email me directly at service@undoit.ca that would be easier. As for the keys not working because the battery could be pushing against them is most likely incorrect, I have never seen it and most batteries are not located underneath the keyboard to be able to press against it, batteries could swell and push against the Trackpad and prevent the trackpad from clicking or even crack the trackpad but not the Keyboard. Individual keys usual stop working because at some point there has been liquid damage on the keyboard, I'd say 95% of the time it is the cause, but over the past decade, I have seen 3 MacBooks (all MacBook Air model A1466) where the function keys would register different characters when pressed and that was because of corrupted OS. If you'd like to eliminate the software issue, try a different hard drive if you have one, or backup and reformat your SSD, if the problem is still there after that, you'll know it is 100% a bad keyboard which you'll have to replace.

      @Simoncanada Před 3 lety

      @@paralleljay248 no I haven’t. I reset the PRAM and did all the suggested software fixes but nothing has worked. I’ve just been using an external keyboard. I can’t recall spilling any liquid on the keys but perhaps that’s the issue? It seems odd to me that is just a single incomplete row of keys as well. I’m not in a position to spend even more money trying to fix it at the moment so the external keyboard will stick around for now.

    Thank you very much - to the point and clear, great tutorial. I was able to change my battery fine, but it seems there's a problem still! When I tested the battery before installing, the charge was 74% - and I turned it off, but then turned it on again to check Cycle Count (1) and Full Charge Capacity (8848) but this time the charge was only 30% something! After installation was finished, the small LED light on the power cord socket does not light and the computer does not start. I remember noticing that Amperage (mA) was -2400 -> does that have to do with this? Or is the battery I bought just bad?

    • @HamadBenaicha
      @HamadBenaicha  Před 2 lety

      Hi Richard it's hard to tell but most likely a faulty battery, an easy way to tell is plug the old one in (assuming it still work) and see if the power drops so fast or so suddenly but usually based on my experience a faulty battery.

    Great vid, specially for how to install a new trackpad. I just installed new speakers. Risky business. Now the trackpad is jumpy, and the battery is not charging. How easy is it to damage the battery/logic board connection? The battery was fairly new, installed 3 months ago and was normal up until I finished the speaker installations and plugged in the power. So to summarize, the battery is not charging and pulling off the magsafe connector shuts the machine down instantly.

      It looks like you will have to replace the battery, if you take your time and do it slowly it should not be a big deal, just take your time and rewind the video as many time as you have to, if for some reason something does not feat, don't force it, check what can be wrong and you'll be OK.
