- In this Cadiz, Spain Vlog, I take you with me as I explore my new favorite place in Spain, showing you what to do with 1 day in Cadiz, Spain. Before visiting Cadiz, Spain I didn’t know too much about this city as not many people I met during my travels have been to Cadiz, Spain before. But, oh man, did I fall in love with the magical city of Cadiz, from its old town center to the beautiful beaches and incredible architecture. I hope you enjoy my Cadiz Spain tour!
To start off my Cadiz Spain Vlog, I went to a beautiful cafe in Cadiz old town called El Cafe de Ana. After a delicious breakfast I walked to the Cadiz Central Market to experience local life in Cadiz, Spain and watch tons of people buy and sell fresh fish. Next on my Cadiz Spain Travel Vlog, I climbed to the top of Tavira Tower for incredible views over the city of Cadiz. The views from the top of Tavira Tower are absolutely spectacular. You have amazing views over the Cadiz old town and the beautiful blue water. Visiting the top of the Tavira Tower is definitely one of the best things to do in Cadiz, Spain.
Next up on my Cadiz Spain tour, I walked to Genoves Park, which is the main park in Cadiz. After roaming around the park, I walked to the Santa Catalina Castle, which is one of my favorite places I visited in my Cadiz Spain Vlog. Right next to the Santa Catalina Castle is the main city beach in Cadiz, Spain called La Caleta Beach, which is a must visit in Cadiz. I also tried to visit the Castle of San Sebastian but it was unfortunately closed during my time in Cadiz, but the walk to the castle was still gorgeous!
For lunch in my Cadiz, Spain Vlog, I went to a neighborhood called La Vina to get some delicious fresh fish for lunch. The La Vina neighborhood is a great place to walk around and enjoy the city of Cadiz. Next on my Cadiz Spain tour, I went to the famous Cadiz Cathedral, which is absolutely stunning and a must visit in Cadiz, Spain. After admiring the Cadiz Cathedral, I went to another one of Cadiz, Spain’s many beaches called La Playita / Playa de las Mujeres / Playa de Santa Maria Del Mar. This is a great place to both swim and surf, depending on the conditions!
I hope you enjoyed my Cadiz Spain Vlog and tour of Cadiz Spain! I still don’t understand why more people don’t visit Cadiz, Spain, because I fell in love with this city and I hope to go back soon!

Wish i could go here one day, im curious if my great great grandfather really came from Cadiz, Spain.
I like cadiz bc im from there
25 years ago my company needed someone to move to Spain, I was young and free so I jumped at it. But Cadiz? Where's that? Well, I spent a year living in it and it was fantastic. Clean, friendly, uncrowded, beautiful, colorful, historic ...I see it hasn't changed a bit in the quarter century (a mere blink of an eye by Cadiz standards) since I lived there.
The reason why buildings are painted in pastel color is the same in Cadiz than in La Habana: Both of us are sailor's villages. Sailors were happy when they can see their houses in the skyline, the sooner the better. And similar reason for Cadiz towers: Merchants built them to be the first ones to see a boat plenty of overseas treasures, and be the first ones to offer a price for them!
Super interesting, thanks so much for sharing!
La ciudad de la Habana se construyo inspirada en la de Cádiz. Tenian muchos lazos comerciales y culturales. Tambien ambas ciudades estan hermanadas
You ask why nobody comes here.
I am on a train pulling out of Càdiz after a wonderful three day visit and can report that the old town is pretty busy with tourists.
The first introduction I’ve had to Cadiz was through my mother. She was born in the Philippines, however, her grandparents were from Cadiz, Spain! She’s always so proud of her Spanish heritage and one of the reasons I’d like to visit!
I hope you get the chance to visit Greg, Cadiz is a beautiful place!
So many of the Filipinos claim Spanish blood but like 2% actually have it when actually tested.
@@Treize132 Yeah...not many of them have Spanish blood, and of those that do, it's not very much.
We have also a place named cadiz here in the Philippines
@@Treize132
Like that can be tested through blood test. Lol !
As an Italian, when you said that cappuccino and neapolitan pastries are typical to spain, you shattered my venetian heart to pecies
I always wondered why Cadiz is not on everybody's list when travelling to southern Spain. Great video. We have been to Spain four times, and we still need to cover Ronda in Andalusia, then head north to San Sebastian, Salamanca, and Santiago. Thanks a million for this video,
Considered to be the oldest inhabited city in Europe, Cádiz was found as 'Gadir' by the Phoenicians in 1.100 BC. The city has a long list of spectacular beaches and returning visitors rave about the tasty Cádiz seafood, amazing monuments and intriguing museums.
Thanks for sharing! Cadiz is a wonderful city!
Second-oldest, after Athens. the oldest of occidental Europe still :)
@@MarioLanzas. No, Cádiz es más antigua que Atenas.
Athena first!
Cádiz es la ciudad mas antigua de occidente. Atenas entra en el hemisferio oriental, y es mas antigua que Cádiz
Thank you for uploading this video of beautiful Cadiz. I didn’t get a chance to see much of Cadiz when I was in Southern Spain. I will definitely not miss it the next time I travel to Spain.
great video! I'm adding Cadiz to my next trip to Spain. those views are truly stunning.
It’s a great place to visit, an amazing bridge to drive over into the town. Beautiful place to walk wound, lovely beach, great food.

Stunning city!! What a great tour of a beautiful place
Thanks Michelle, Cadiz is so stunning!
I'm getting a Tangier's vibe, seeing this city. Unlike that Moroccan place, Cadiz on the ground has Magnificent Local Architecture... Unique in Spain, as - Cadiz was a major Port/Hub of trade between Spain and the New Spain. You can see details in Cadiz's buildings which echo the vernacular styles created for Puerto Rico, Havana, Puebla (Mexico), and the rest of Latin America. I LIKE!!!
De acuerdo en todo. Es del todo certero
Cadiz really is a beautiful city Mark!
There is something about infectious enthusiasm! Great introduction to Cadiz. I really liked the presentation.
Thanks so much John, Cadiz is a special place!
After seeing this video I'm putting Cadiz on my list of cities to visit. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so glad Luis, it’s an amazing place to visit!
Wow! Love your adventure and Cadiz. On my bucket list! Thank you
I’m so glad Cadiz is on your list, its such an amazing place!
Now you know why all cities in the Caribbean look like Cadiz. San Juan, P. Rico, Santo Domingo, etc.
*Cuttlefish, squid and calamari, basically is the same.
And all of the cities are incredibly beautiful!
Matt, just some constructive criticism. Remember that “America” is not synonymous with “US”. Cadiz Cathedral started being built in 1722, way before the US became a nation. Although trade was possible between Spain and the US (since it took >100 years to be completed), most of the money came from “trade” between Spain and America, as in the American continent (i.e. Spain’s colonies+).
Typical US people´s knowledge about the rest of the world.
True, but US citizens don’t have a monopoly on ignorance. Plenty to be found all around the globe.
New York is actually New York City. New York is the state. But people call the city "New York." That is about equal to the "error" you're calling out this vlogger on. Butt-hurt and jealous you are.
in english “america” = USA
It can be very windy down there ❤️👌👍
I really enjoy your video style. Cadiz is overlooked in favor of so many gems in Andalucia, but seeing it through your lens makes me want to take a look and see what I've been missing! Thanks
Love to visit cadiz again, i live in nerja its been ages since i went down that way. Its a beautiful place 👍❤️👏👌🇪🇸

Cádiz is a jewel, and the province has a lot besides the capital. If you liked the city, you'd love the villages. Cádiz is unique!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to visit some of the smaller towns next time!

Nice video. Been in Spain since end of September. I’m living in community of Valencia, in a small seaside village. Very few people here in winter, but lots were still here when I arrived. Haven’t traveled as much as I planned, due to Covid, so I’m gonna stay here most likely until summer 2023. Thanks for adding Cadiz to itinerary.
Sounds like a nice place Ken, I hope you get the chance to visit Cadiz sometime soon while you are in Spain!

I love the combination of big city and the sea! It's the best combo! These views are incredible!
I completely agree Lexi, Cadiz is so beautiful!
It's not a big city. Only 116,979 inhabitants.
@@kasperpaisa4245so its quite big
@@AleksandraLexi You don't know what big is. Sevilla, Valencia and Barcelona are big cities. Cadiz is small and cozy.
@@kasperpaisa4245 no, these cities are huge not big :p and Cadiz is still a big city. You can say that, for example Ronda is a small city (or quite big). But in general, it's up to u - you can call it what you want to☺.
happy new year from NYC!! I need to visit Cadiz!!
Happy new year! 🎊
I'm moving to Spain from California and my first inclination was Sevilla, but Cadiz seems amazing.
Cadiz really is a special place!
I live here and I wouldn’t recommend it over Seville. It’s a nice place to vacation, but there is not much else to do besides the beach. I live right next to Cafe Ana. It’s always closed lol.
THANK YOU GOING OUT THERE NEXT WEEK
I hope you have an amazing time!
I love Cadiz, I recommend watching the football team!
Great atmosphere
Brings back great memories from when I was stationed just to the north in Rota with the Navy back in '03-'05. My family had many great day trips down to Cadiz. I seem to recall the locals pronouncing it with an Andalusian accent, a th for the z.
The locals pronounce it as CA i. They omit the z altogether. It's an Andalusian thing. BTW, true Andalusians don't pronounce the Z or C as th as they do in other parts of Spain.
Great videos!
Thats it, i am sold, i am going to try and go there this summer.
I hope you do, Cadiz is beautiful!
Incredible video. Watching in New Zealand
Thanks Mark! Cheers!
Cádiz is a best kept secret. I ived for a years there in 2004, where I could have plenty of my two passions: surfing and flamenco - for this is the city where Flamenco is born. Not to mention near a hundred miles of virgin sunny beaches...
That’s a great vlog host. I am from Philippines and my last name is Cadiz my root history in the past donkey years is from Spain. My dream to visit there one day currently living in UK. Followed you …
Thank you! I hope you get to visit Cadiz soon!
Happy New Year from Japan 💝💝❤❤😍😍
Happy new year!
Our best secret place ❤❤
It's just amazing!
coming from the other video xd. Although Seville is probably my favorite city period, Cadiz is wonderful. It's really loved among Spaniards, whenever possible, no matter if you are from Madrid, Galicia, Catalonia, whatever, any Spaniard is glad to go to Cadiz. It is a really authentic and genuine city, full of history and easily walkable. You can literally find a roman theatre built under centuries-old traditional houses, Phoenician remains or a baroque Cathedral just a few streets apart. It certainly deserves way more international recognition.
That's a lie, I'm from northern Spain and stereotypes towards andalusians are horrible, its disgusting. Dont lie
@@bergantinos2202 pero qué dices? En qué momento suelto estereotipos sobre los andaluces? Si lo único que he dicho es que Cádiz es muy querida por el resto de España y es una ciudad muy auténtica y llena de historia.
That´s not true Matt , I mean that no one go there, hehe !!! I actually go to Cádiz almost every summer and I loveeee the city, the food, the people, the beaches, the monuments, "The cool surfer/ Caribbean vibe that you can feel", everything !!! As an Andalusian citizen, thanks a lot for showing Cádiz to the rest of the international viewers !! Regards !!

I have been to both Havana and I live in Cadiz. Structurally I can see how you can connect El Malecon to Cadiz, but one essential thing is missing. The vibrancy of the Caribbean people. Great video, you definitely captured the best of the capital.

The locals call it CAi, they don't pronounce the z at the end. BTW, the Cathedral got it's financing through exploitation of the Spanish colonies in America, NOT because of trading with the USA (there was no USA at the time.)

It's my top favorite city in Spain, after Granada.
Both are beautiful cities!
The south of Spain is not industrialized, so local wages/incomes are low. It could be a problem if you want to live there. I guess is a perfect place for digital nomads : beautiful, save and cheap !
Hi Matt, I’m traveling in November 🤞🏻🙏🏼 to Marbella
I’ll like to do a couple of day trips, what can you recommend? Ronda, Cádiz, Sevilla or Córdoba?
We will relied on public transportation, we do speak Spanish which I know is helpful on some situations.
All are amazing choices! I might be biased but Cadiz was my personal favorite! Seville is more city like with tons to do, Cordoba has some great architecture and streets, and Ronda is more calm and laid back. All are accessible by train/public transport so you shouldn't have a problem getting there. Enjoy your trip!
