【INTRODUCTION】
In a world plagued by threatening creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in the
Japan Defense Force to defeat them.
“Let's wipe out the Kaiju together.”
Kafka pledged to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Over time, life circumstances forced them to
go their separate ways and caused him to abandon his lifelong ambition.
He found himself employed by Monster Sweeper, Inc., a professional cleaning company that
specializes in cleaning up the aftermath of Kaiju battles. Meanwhile, Mina Ashiro is now the
Captain of the Defense Force’s 3rd Division. As it stands, he is currently unworthy of fighting
Kaiju alongside her.
At work, Kafka crosses paths with the highly motivated Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s undying
determination to join the Defense Force leaves no room for failure. His perseverance reawakens
Kafka’s ambition of standing next to Mina as they protect humanity from Kaiju together.
A dream frozen by time, thawed by a burning promise
But Kafka doesn’t know that an imminent Kaiju threat is unexpectedly approaching him.

To be fair, mainstream Japanese artists have been making anime OPs and EDs for years.

The original comment didn't specify between Japanese and non-Japanese artists, implying that the Japanese artists that have made anime OPs and EDs for years weren't mainstream. Which, at least in the Japanese market, is just not the case.
Actually, I'd argue american mainstream and Japanese mainstream are on different levels. American artists tend to be more globally recognized, and that's how I read the og comment. Nothing against tge Japanese artists at all either

Best ending of this season
The moment the ED started, I did a double take. "This definitely isn't a Japanese song, is it?" And then the lyrics hit and I immediately looked up OneRepublic as I hadn't heard anything from them in _years._
And now im reading all these Japanese comments where the most common factor among them is that this is just slick as hell.
It's already happening, but I'm expecting an even more insane level of attention being given to Japanse animation, manga, and LN by the Western entertainment machine. 'Cause if they can continue to pull this kind of collaboration off, there's gonna be _way_ more mainstream attention from the West.
Realizing just how many incredible fictional works already exist in Japan would be a game changer of unbelievable magnitude.
