Just had my ACL Knee Surgery 5 day’s post-op and healing up quite well. Brushing seems to appear more so today (5th day) not iced after applying ice therapy device. Thank you for explaining this. I am 8 weeks post anterior hip replacement. My entire leg swelled and bruised all the was down to my toes. This inflammation turned into neuropathy and the throbbing burning pain was unbearable. No one really helped me. They kept saying this was normal. It took weeks to calm down. It's almost gone now with a little still in my ankle and top of foot. My surgeon said it could have been a reaction to the anesthesia. I'm taking B1, B12, and R-alpha lipoic acid. It unfortunately slowed down my recovery, but I'm catching up now. Thanks again.

Recovery is no joke and it certainly can manifest as being depressed or feeling down--that is quite common and something I really need to talk about and address because it is so common. I experienced it personally with my wife who had regret after her tummy tuck for the first few months. She eventually became super happy with the results and glad she did it but at the beginning it was a little rough.

Patients however, just don't have the experience to know that swelling is normal and that it always gets worse before getting better. Glad I can help. Best of luck with your recovery.

I got foot reconstruction on April 1st 2022 and my preop appt was 3 days after the surgery. I've already had the sugery on my other foot which was a success! I thought I knew what to expect with my other foot, but boy was I very, very wrong. When my surgeon took off my surgical dressings it was like opening a "present that you were scared to open but curious to open non the less." So was watching, pure curiousty gets the best of me and I have learned my lesson. But when I saw my foot the incisions on the top and calf were amazing! But the incision on my heal was overwhelmed with swelling and the dressing closes to the incision was very saturated with bodily fluid. This overwhelmed me my Dr reassured me that it is ok that everything looked great and in order just alot of swelling as he expected. Well I fainted non the less of the reassurance and got woozy whenever I looked at my foot thinking of it makes me a bit light headed. I'm usually good with gory stuff but sometimes your body just needs to cave in and take your pride and confidence and place it on a table and let you release. I'm fine now of course hehe, I'm in a cast pain is at a 2-3 off of heavy pain meds (course taking over the counter ibuprofen) and my foot is doing great. This video was amazing! And an awesome explanation of what happened to my foot and that it is indeed normal. Thank you so much sorry for my rant!

The recovery is not to be taken lightly! The first 4 days are the most difficult so you're already past that point! The swelling though will continue to go down. Best of luck as you continue your recovery. Don't forget to 'roll' to keep your skin smooth as possible. ogeerecovery.com/collections/ogee-roller

This is the hardest thing to teach patients. The body knows what to do and takes a long time to heal.

I had a body lift 8 mo this ago. They did liposuction to my back and the swelling and pain is still there. Bromaline dis nothing. Sometimes it feels better after a massage but always comes back. Any pointers on what to do? Should I be concerned at this point or continue to give it more time, I understand it was a major surgery.

What if you have upper abdominal swell/ bulge? Does that go away too? I’m 4 months post op and I really hope it will go away. It doesn’t look good. Next surgery I’m coming to you. I learn more from you than my own surgeon. You are so clear and direct. Amazing!!

Usually upper abdomen "swelling" is not really swelling at all but it is usually internal (visceral) fat and it goes away with weight loss. I would try to lose weight and see if it goes away--my bet is that it does.

@@DrWilliamMiami ok I thought so so I have lost 20lbs since surgery. I sent my surgeons office pics of the swelling and the nurses tell me it’s normal and will go away with time. Thanks so much , I do have about 15 more lbs to lose so we’ll see at my 6 month appt. Thanks!

Great information. Do you recommend the use of flat boards? Or that could interferes the healing process some how? Thank you.
