This doctor is the business!!!!! On another level. Will be my doctor...I have yet to see anyone put out the information like him..have yet to see anyone do a better job than him. He is the GOAT!
More a go to than a goat 😊

Me too sis i just got my surgery on 15th nov my legs are swollen its stressing me out

I learned the info at my nursing school approximately 22 years ago. This doctor👨⚕️ is very articulate.
This is an excellent, clear presentation about the body's swelling process because "A picture is worth a thousand words."
The admiration & level of respect I have for you Dr. Willam as a Plastic surgeon is indescribable to put into real words.
Thank you!
@@DrWilliamMiami Will I see noticeable result at my 2nd week? I am on my 8th day of revision 360 lipo and can see only 20 percent result on my love handles. Is it normal to see only about 20 percent result at the end of first week?
Awesome information Dr! I love and enjoy how you explains things thoroughly and in a way that’s easy for us to understand.
Thank you, glad you enjoy it!
I need you to do my revision. And give me the hips my surgeon couldn't do. My doctor never explained nothing like this. Now I'm very informed and prepared for a second round.
Girl same! My doctor didn’t give me hips either ugh!! And to top it off I think he put more fat into one of my cheeks. Because I look deformed now smh
I can't stop listening , learning and loving Dr William.... you're the best ever❤
Wow, thank you!! I appreciate that. I am having a class LIVE on CZcams on September 18. Here is the link:

Thank you very much, Dr. William Miami. This most definitely helped me better understand swelling that isn’t explained enough or at all by Doctor’s. Just had my ACL Knee Surgery 5 day’s post-op and healing up quite well. Brushing seems to appear more so today (5th day) not iced after applying ice therapy device. Am hoping it will subside with continuing elevation.
You the real MVP! Thanks for this
This is so clear and carefully explained . Thanks, it makes sense
I just had a panniculectomy (was supposed to be more of a tummy tuck with tightening the muscles and addressing the moms which is now HUGE but apparently the doc fibbed) but this video is great for explaining what’s going on to my fam!
Thank you so much for breaking this down for me, I a currently waiting for this swelling to go done/away trusting the process
Thank you, Dr. Miami, for an easy-to-understand and reassuring explanation of post-operative swelling. I had an appendectomy 24 days ago and understand that my abdominal swelling is my body's natural and normal reaction to my surgery..
Yes it applies to any type of surgery. That's just how the body heals.
Thank you so much for this explanation, i am a week into recovery from a hysterectomy. The swelling and bruising in my abdomen is a lot, but i feel so much more reassured now.
It's good to understand that your body's natural and normal way of healing is through a pathway of first swelling.
Thank you so much for this. I just removed my binder for the first time for a shower on day 2 pre-op. I was discouraged with the size of my belly. This video has eased my mind. Thank you
That's why, is a process and choose a skillful and knowledgeable Therapist
You just put my mind at ease had hand tendon transfer surgery 9 days ago, I guess I`m just very impatient, thank you Doc.
Great video!!! Helps a lot..new to your channel but Had to subscribe!! This is the best info..im 15days post op. You gave way more info than my surgeon.
Wish you were in GA! , I love watching you ! I would definitely go for you for a TT .
this is so insightful. Thank you Doc.
I just had sutures over my upper and lower lip and after an hour or so It started swelling up l. Although the docs did say the swelling is natural, this explanation makes it better to understand.
Thank you for explaining this. I am 8 weeks post anterior hip replacement. My entire leg swelled and bruised all the was down to my toes. This inflammation turned into neuropathy and the throbbing burning pain was unbearable. No one really helped me. They kept saying this was normal. It took weeks to calm down. It's almost gone now with a little still in my ankle and top of foot. My surgeon said it could have been a reaction to the anesthesia. I'm taking B1, B12, and R-alpha lipoic acid. It unfortunately slowed down my recovery, but I'm catching up now. Thanks again.
Very excellent and clear explanation as well as a great illustration!
Thank you! Cheers!
Preety easy way to tell about this seroma issue. Thank you so much doctor
Excellent Dr. Willliams. Most clients believes that they are amazon prime that delivers in 24 hours
Lmaooooo 😂
I am so grateful for this video,, I’m almost 6 months in after my hip replacement and wondering and worried that the swelling is still there. Your explanation was perfect thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
His teaching methods is awarsom...
Dr. on another level. Thanks for this explanation......recovering patients get a little nervous with this swelling, especially seroma
I know. Can you imagine how much burn patients swell?! It's just the natural way humans heal.
Thank you so much for this...I was starting to get worried about my swelling... I'm nearly 6 months post 360 BBL surgery and couldn't understand why if I went a day without wearing my faja I would swell...now I know... I've learned more from you & your videos than I have from the Dr that performed my surgery....thank you
Where was your swelling? I’m having swelling in my knees and legs.
@@cyndeenavarro426 my stomach... It was like of I didn't wear my faja I was extra swollen then when I put the faja on it would be fine the next day....
Wearing a faja for a long time is not good it makes your body dependening on it
I’m 3 month in now had muscle repair
I look pregnant and my hubby won’t look at me like he used to 🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🤷🏼♀️
@@nonnalovepriceless girl u need another husband your more than an object & there are some men out there that know that... Just know it does go away at least it did for me... The swelling one day just disappears...
thank you so much for this video, i just had a 10+ pound myxoid liposarcoma cancerous mass removed from my thigh, incision from my butt cheek to below my knee with 57 staples and two drains, and my whole body is swollen, i was so so worried that something was wrong, this really put my mind at ease! again thank you!
💖💖💖💖💖🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Prayers for recovery
Fantastic, sir. Love your old school approach. Simple is always best. Great help.
Thank you kindly!
I am 9 days post robotic bilateral inguinal hernia repair surgery. As you described, I experienced increased edema for the first three days with swelling noticeably decreasing since. I am looking forward to returning back to normal. Thank you for the excellent explanation and the helpful old-school visuals.
You're lucky, I am still a still 8 days post op and the swelling is larger than it was after the 1st day, so I guess it's going to take longer, my follow up appointment is not until February 1st, 2022. I had mesh...
@@towerofresonance4877 I had bilateral mesh repair as well. I was going on 1-mile walks the day after surgery. I never picked up pain meds or took any other pharmaceuticals. I experienced moderate pain for about 3 days. That was basically it. It helped that I am in good shape and live a very healthy lifestyle; diet, exercise, low subcutaneous and visceral body fat. It all plays a role, especially when you are almost 56 y/o.
I hope you are getting to feel better soon and will make a full recovery. God bless.
17 days post-opt and I.see why some doctors educate their clients on the mental health aspect post-opt. I feel so bloated and my skin is painful to touch. And damn, the itching is definitely evil, just taking it one day at a time.
Recovery is no joke and it certainly can manifest as being depressed or feeling down--that is quite common and something I really need to talk about and address because it is so common. I experienced it personally with my wife who had regret after her tummy tuck for the first few months. She eventually became super happy with the results and glad she did it but at the beginning it was a little rough.
We really appreciate all of the information! Thank you!❤
That is just so nice of you to say. Thank you. I appreciate you watching the videos.
Excellent explanation. Thank you!
This video was very helpful. Thank you .
You’re pretty awesome! When I’m ready for my surgery I’m coming to you ❤!
Very well explained Doctor M.
You are blessed 🙌 thanks alot for your beautiful discussion .
Thank you so much. I was becoming so concerned as it is 5 weeks post-surgery and have abdominal swelling. My surgeon told me it was normal but I didn’t understand, now I do with this additional information.
Glad I could help!
Thank you. This gave me a lot of peace of mind.
Excellent explanations Dr William.
Thank you.
Perfect video and perfect explanation! Thank you
You're welcome! Glad you found it helpful. I just uploaded another one on fluid that you may like.
This is excellent and very informative. I had a hysterectomy over a month ago; this explains a lot.
Glad it was helpful!
@@DrWilliamMiami a friend of mines is four months post op tummy tuck she is still swollen how long should she wear her faja for
Brilliant informative video thank you.
Great Teacher of medical and body experiences
Thank you! Did you know that the origins of the word doctor means "to teach" in Latin?
@@DrWilliamMiami Thank you for letting me know. How do you say "Poster Child" in Latin that's you
Very interesting and helpful. I just had laparoscopic surgery to remove a ruptured appendix. The challenge I seem to be facing is a lot of gas behind the abdominal wall, that was introduced as part of the procedure. It has caused ongoing swelling and pain. I'm 3 days post surgery and it's not lessening. How does this gas get released?
Exactly what I was looking for. This explanation should be binder they give you for joint replacement. Very well explained. Thank you! Day 3 after total hip replacement.
Glad it helped.
Very good. I have been watching a lot of videos on this topic and this one is clear and easily understood 👍👍👍👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
This has given me a peace of mind. I had umbilical hernia surgery last week and I now have a small swelling that was bigger than the hernia was.
I'm seeing a doctor tomorrow because I think I have a seroma.
So what it was?
@@TechyAviral It was a seroma. It went down after 2 weeks. I am fully recovered now.
I just had a corrective jaw surgery and my face is incredibly swollen. This video was really helpful to understand what is happening to me. Thank you! It made it a lot less scary.
I had jaw surgery in May but still have swelling even after 4 months have passed by. How's your swelling now? Did it go away? I'm icing the swollen area but no luck!
@@stanleynoel99 Hey Stanley. My swelling has pratically disappeared but my doctor says it can take up to 18 months for swelling to fully disappear. The first few months were quite difficult but after 6 months I was almost back to normal, but I guess it is different from one person to the other. In terms of ice, I do not think it works after the first week. Idealy, you should use something warm to reduce swelling and not ice.
As he said using ice tablets etc doesn’t work you have to let it run it’s coarse unfortunately I’m in the Same situation, I will just have to wait 😏
I had double jaw surgery in 2019 my swelling is completely gone now but I still have numbing/lost of sensation in parts of my face but it doesn’t impact the actual movement of my face so nobody can tell but me
Cheers William, great explanation and video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Your awesome! Again thank you for your knowledge.
Honestly this came through my feed for other type of surgery, but I would imagine the basis is the same as he says your body sees any surgery as an injury, and I’m having tremendous swelling feeling after my hysterectomy a few days ago.. makes total sense and will ask my doc on this too if it is similar
Excellent explanation Doctor. Thanks a lot.
You are most welcome! Thank you for watching.
Thank you for this information! You have the best videos!
I appreciate that!
Thank you for this explanation, I just had a surgery and my stomach is so swellen and feel bloated.
Brilliant, thank you! What a relief to understand the process a bit better (why don't our Doctors bother with that?). I had gum grafts and am shocked that my whole right side of face is continuing to swell, going into day 4. I'll try to trust the process. Thank you again!
The body heals by swelling. EVERY operation produces swelling that is a necessary part of healing and as surgeons we expect it, we have seen it countless times so for us it is nothing unusual. Patients however, just don't have the experience to know that swelling is normal and that it always gets worse before getting better. Glad I can help. Best of luck with your recovery.
@@DrWilliamMiami o
I just had surgery for carpal tunnel to day ,yup my fingers starting swelling.. Salutes Dr for your information, knowing the swelling is normal after surgery .
Hey, my friend just got her BBL done. Here's a video on it hope this suits you well!
Wow this is an incredibly helpful video, thank you.
You're very welcome!
Thank you for the explanation
Great info!
Well done!
Does the red/infrared light therapy helps to heal more quicker?
Well done
Thank you very much for this we’ll need explanation 🙌🙌🙌🙌
I’m dealing with that situation right now. 5 months post operation and the blowing sensation after i removed my faja , was making me really worried. This is the most complete explanation of what’s going on with my body. Thank you Doctor
Thank you I learned a lot
Thanks for explaining this I beginning to worry. I had an abdominal hysterectomy 4 weeks ago and I was expecting the swelling and numbness to be gone by now. I guess that I have to trust the process.
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much great information
Love it! Thank you Dr. Miami! That was a really good informative video.
Glad it was helpful!
I had a hemithyroidectomy and he explained the swelling perfectly👍🏼
Hi, I had also same surgery with you.i takes how many weeks your neck swells before it go away?
I had it swollen for 3 months
Great video
Thank you! Going through this right now.
Dr , William Thank you for all your useful vidioes and edcuating us ,
can you do videos about fat fabrosis, seroma, Necrosis and how can we avoid. them , can we avoid them and what is the solution please Thank you
Thank you very much this is so informative. Four days post keyhole surgery I was wondering why I look more bloated now than prior to the surgery. I didn’t envisage that it’ll take 12 months ……. 😔
This is so important to know while going thru the recovery process.
Great teacher!
Thank you! 😃
I got foot reconstruction on April 1st 2022 and my preop appt was 3 days after the surgery. I've already had the sugery on my other foot which was a success! I thought I knew what to expect with my other foot, but boy was I very, very wrong. When my surgeon took off my surgical dressings it was like opening a "present that you were scared to open but curious to open non the less." So was watching, pure curiousty gets the best of me and I have learned my lesson. But when I saw my foot the incisions on the top and calf were amazing! But the incision on my heal was overwhelmed with swelling and the dressing closes to the incision was very saturated with bodily fluid. This overwhelmed me my Dr reassured me that it is ok that everything looked great and in order just alot of swelling as he expected. Well I fainted non the less of the reassurance and got woozy whenever I looked at my foot thinking of it makes me a bit light headed. I'm usually good with gory stuff but sometimes your body just needs to cave in and take your pride and confidence and place it on a table and let you release. I'm fine now of course hehe, I'm in a cast pain is at a 2-3 off of heavy pain meds (course taking over the counter ibuprofen) and my foot is doing great. This video was amazing! And an awesome explanation of what happened to my foot and that it is indeed normal. Thank you so much sorry for my rant!
You are welcome. Thank you for sharing. The lower extremities are particularly susceptible to swelling because they are dependent and so far from the heart. Glad you did well and glad you enjoyed the video. I greatly appreciate the feedback.
This explanation was incredible. I love the drawings!!! It made such a difference in understanding for me.
I’m one month post op from a Tibial Plateau Fracture on my left leg. Swelling has gone down a lot but I still have swelling which I expect for a few more weeks or even months. It was a big surgery… Plate + screws 😓
Good luck on your recovery. That is a big surgery.
I had a laparoscopy for cyst drainage 4 weeks ago and I have so much bloating and look pregnant, the consultant prescibed some laxative and buscopan, I really hope the bloating goes, btw great video doc 🙏
Thanks for the info 👍 love it ❤
THANK U SIR, FOR SUCH BEAUTIFUL EXPLANATION, IT'S SOME KIND OF HEALING❤
I HAVE UNDERGONE THIS SURGERY LAST MONDAY.. ITS VERY BIG SURGERYNOW ON THE WAY TO HEALING PATH.
NOW IF I LOOK BACK, ITS SCARY
The recovery is not to be taken lightly! The first 4 days are the most difficult so you're already past that point! The swelling though will continue to go down. I can't wait to get mine in December
I like the sentence- Your body KNOWS what to do
This is the hardest thing to teach patients. The body knows what to do and takes a long time to heal.
very slowly drop off😔12months!😭 thank you for the information 🤝
I had a body lift 8 mo this ago. They did liposuction to my back and the swelling and pain is still there. Bromaline dis nothing. Sometimes it feels better after a massage but always comes back. Any pointers on what to do? Should I be concerned at this point or continue to give it more time, I understand it was a major surgery.
What if you have upper abdominal swell/ bulge? Does that go away too? I’m 4 months post op and I really hope it will go away. It doesn’t look good. Next surgery I’m coming to you. I learn more from you than my own surgeon. You are so clear and direct. Amazing!!
Usually upper abdomen "swelling" is not really swelling at all but it is usually internal (visceral) fat and it goes away with weight loss. I would try to lose weight and see if it goes away--my bet is that it does.
@@DrWilliamMiami ok I thought so so I have lost 20lbs since surgery. I sent my surgeons office pics of the swelling and the nurses tell me it’s normal and will go away with time. Thanks so much , I do have about 15 more lbs to lose so we’ll see at my 6 month appt. Thanks!
I know if you lose the weight it will go away.
Very informative video.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much!

Excellent.
Is there any thing to do to help to reduce the swelling before 12 months?
Great information. Do you recommend the use of flat boards? Or that could interferes the healing process some how? Thank you.
