  • I was watching my purple martins this morning and I noticed they were starting to get run off by honey bees. in case somebody needs to know honey bees I'm not in the diet of purple martins as some beekeepers like to think. it is a total myth

What a neat hobby. Do you sell your honey? How many hives do you have going this year? Is the garage hive still active? You are always doing very interesting stuff. Thanks for the video.

Yeah we sell the honey are the garage Hive is still there but there's no Bees in it. I save it for a last resort. I came out of winter with two hives live out of six. I'm up to seven as of writing this now

Do Africanized bee's ever try to invade the hives?

So far we don't have any Africanized bees this far north naturally for the can't seem to tolerate the cold butt I do know of somebody 60 miles south of me that keeps an Africanized hive he swears their better honey producers. I was not too happy when I found out about that because you produce drones and queens and are going to introduce those jeans into a population I don't tolerate a hot hive. I got stung five times today and it wasn't from the bees I was messing with either. It was one Hive that I was trying to pull weeds around. That's not normal for them to be like that. There could be something going on that causes that

@@crzrck I have a bad Carpenter Bee problem already this year. I really don't want to kill them but man are they destructive!
The males just buzz around my head like small aircraft Lol. I've had them literally come nose to nose with me, they have never been aggressive.

@@rogerlbl7316 Same here in Missouri near Wright City. Get a bee trap. You can find them on line or you can make them. I bought one and caught zero bees. I read an article to put dead bees in the trap. Bingo! All bees were trapped and gone within one week. I swatted a few bees with a tennis racquet to get the dead ones for bait. This really worked for me; hope it works for you.
