The nodules are a very interesting thing in Mariah's case, she learned to sing around them and she says that's why she can do the whistle. Also (as somebody else already commented) when the nodules are bigger she can't belt that high but the whistle is cristal clear and when the nodules are smaller she can belt but the whistle might not be fully there. There are videos of her explaining her voice over the years if you wanna look it up.
And yes, the fans can be very nasty and rude towards her a lot of times cause they're never satisfied and want her to sing as she did when she was in her 20s but all she does is the best to maintain her voice in a healthy state. She has said thousands of times that her voice is very fragile.

Talking about the nodules thing, she says she always had them, since a kid, some people say that maybe she overworked her voice or yelled/cried a lot as a baby, the thing is that when they are bigger her whistles are better and the belting isnt there as good, and when they're smaller, the opposite.

And Mariah Carey did not develop nodules through singing. She always had it since she was a child. Yet she can still sing amazingly, she knows how to use her voice even with the nodules(that's a true vocalist). Imagine if she did not have them
@@1amThatGuy That's just what her mother told her, it's not like she went to the doctor to get checked whens he was a kid for nodules. But if we're going with she had nodules since she was a kid, she's attributed them to her singing in a super high tone (which later turned into her whistle register). Her mother even told her as a kid it would hurt her. So yea, it kinda was from singing. You don't just get nodules at 3 years old for no reason.

@@Mariahs5thOctaveactually it’s common for babies to get nodules from crying. Try educating yourself. Mariah prob did give herself the nodules even though her mother taught her the basics of singing. Regardless it’s not what gives her the whistle register and other good whistlers don’t have nodules.
@@strangerthings88 Educate myself? Dont be insulting. I said you don't get them from nothing! And I said if she got them as a kid, which she never got a doctor's opinion on as a kid, then she probably got them from using the part of her voice that she uses now to hit the whistle register. Read because words mean things.
People are much harder on her nowadays because of the inconsistencies of her voice and they keep her in high regard expecting her to be able to sing like she is 20 which is just crazy and sad. Mariah once said "it's like I'm the only one who has to make 5 million comebacks but when it's someone else it's just oh OK you did a lil thing and move on" something like that lol.

2022 was literally the WORST year vocally for her EVER
So the nodules are like 2 tiny growths on the vocal chords and they help her reach whistle easily. But with belting because of aging and overworking the voice, the nodules make it way more difficult now to reach upper belts with they become thicker or inflamed.

@buddylove9922 her vocal health is 2 minute live show and 99 percent lipsync in 2022 was 60 percent t live 40 lipsync in comparison she is really shouty recently and such a dry voice recently
