Today I filmed a very requested video of my tips for new nursing students! I tried to sum it all up in 7 points, but of course you guys know I love going into detail!
As always if you have any questions or requests leave them down below!!

I’m a new grad NICU nurse. If I could tell nursing students anything it would be to focus more on the knowledge that you gain rather than your grades.
Once you graduate no one cares if you got straight As or all Cs. In fact ALOT of experienced nurses say C students make the best nurses because typically those students have a better grasp on the content they just don’t test well.
I did NOT get straight As & I was the ONLY new grad nurse in my class to be offered a job in a level IV NICU. Test anxiety ALWAYS got the best of me during nursing school BUT I passed boards on the 1st try.
Do NOT compare yourself to your friends or other students just study hard & give it your best shot. Good luck to you all. Keep your heads up & do not give up!!!!! ❤️
Thank you so much
What state do you live in that hired you. NICU is my dream speciality.
Jhannee M I’m in Louisiana. I worked as a tech all thru nursing school which definitely helped as well. I absolutely LOVE my job ❤️
Thank you so much. Your words mean a lot and I will screenshot it to encourage myself every now and then while I'm in anatomy and physiology.
Wood Simon awww that’s awesome. I wish you the best of luck. Hang in there. You’ll do great & it will be over before you know it.
When I was in nursing school I studied with a group of 3-4 girls and we would compare our test grades/ tests after the exam to see where we went wrong and essentially had a study session of 3-4 girls with the teacher comparing all of our exams. It was very helpful and not competitive at all.
Erin Stokes my classmates started to get too competitive when would share grades. I started keeping it to myself.
@@NellyP88 I made a 98 on our first exam (fundamentals) and refused to tell anyone. I don't want to compete as I'm already stressed and also... I don't want to tutor people. :P
Tori Malin Sørensen I’ve been there
1
@@torimalin3568 RIGHT. people are gunna ask if u can tutor them and if u can send them a copy of your notes for the rest of the semester lol.
I CANNOT stress enough to study every single day starting at the beginning!!! I’ve seen people BOMB the first two tests and then realize “oh i should study” and at that point they can’t bring it back up🤦🏽♀️
Mckenzie C yea I agree, that’s a good tip for sure
Mckenzie C i agreeeee
I took medical terminology right before starting nursing school. thank baby Jesus lol!! definitely helps!
Tiana Gruender i’m taking that class next month, any advice, tips?😳
I’m taking it too
I took it before I switched to nursing school...but I dont remember a lot at this point :(
Wow..literally, I was doing that for so long “I could go to the gym but that’s time I could be studying” and honestly the worry is not worth it! Being in a better head space while studying is so much more effective than studying full of anxiety🙄
Nohelia Mata I. Do. This. All. The. Time. I hate itttttt
I’m starting my first semester of nursing school in August and I couldn’t be more excited 🤩
Same good luck!!
Anna Mallison-Austin Same! Good luck!
Thanks guys good luck to you both!!
Same! Good luck!
me too!
Great tip on sucking up to the teacher!! And ALWAYS sit in the front row. That could be the 89.9 and 90% difference on the test lol
I’m a single mom starting nursing school in August! I’m so worried & excited at the same time. 🥺🤯 Thank you so much for this video! Super helpful ❤️
You can do it.
That’s awesome good luck !
Good luck!!
Me too! We will get through this. ❤️
I hope everything's going good!
This might sound weird but I’m turning 10 this year and I turned my room into a nurses room and if got all the medical equipment like stethoscope, a reflex tester, a blood pressure machine and a pulse oximeter. I’ve got crutches and syringes and I’ve already done a lot of research on the human body and how to treat all injuries and I do physiotherapy, checkups and physical examination. I love everything about nursing and taking care of people. Thank you for giving me more tips and tricks about being a doctor!
Keep up that determination and effort! This will take you so far and I can already tell you’ll be a wonderful caregiver. Focus and don’t let anyone make you feel differently!❤️
😍😍😍😍😍
Hey ya'll! Another tip that will help you get comfortable with medical terminology and patient interaction: work in a hospital if you can! I'm working as a patient transporter, and I always offer to help nurses and CNAs (no matter how dirty the job-literally). I'm building important relationships, and because I'm a helpful person to go to, they are happy to answer my questions, show me things, and explain what they are doing. I'm still pre-nursing, but this is making a world of difference. I plan to do transport for at least a year, then move up to CNA and eventually, RN! Thank you for these tips!
I’m 25 and been working as a healthcare assistant the past 4 years ! I just made the decision to take the plunge and applied for nursing ! I couldn’t be more excited ! The next 4 years is really going to change my life ❤️❤️
How is the journey so far?
It really is and you won’t regret it at all! Best of luck to you! And proud of those who want to become a nurse!!
I’m with you. I work in the hospital as a PCT than a psychiatrist technician and my boss said I have a job waiting for me when I pass nursing school so it motivate me to get into nursing school fast lol.
Me too!! All the best with your new adventure
This is actually a really good information that other nursing school preparation videos don’t seem to go over. I’ll be sending this video to my sister who is starting her nursing program this fall!
Thank you so much!!
Hey I am planning for Rn program and was wondering is it difficult ? I am super nervous
@@misssu5311 It actually is pretty difficult, but don’t let that stop you! You can do anything if you put your mind to it. Just look around at all of the other RNs you know & remind yourself if they can do it, so can you.
Lauren Hills thank you Lauren ! I see the course load and I get anxiety 😥
I agree that comparing yourself to your peers really gets ppl! After exams I don’t like discussing the questions because it gives you anxiety when everyone else picked answers you didn’t lol. After grades come in everyone likes discussing what they got n it just starts to feel like everyone is in competition lol it’s annoying!! I’m just tryna get through with school lol 🤣🤷🏽♀️
Omg it’s sooo bad! Everyone hopes to compare and do better than everyone I’m just like I passed let’s do the next one!! 😂
I really hate comparing...
Great video, the best decision I made as a RN nurse was to create a side hustle for extra income streams. It has really helped me and my family financially stable.
Great stuff, how did you go about that please enlighten me, I'm interested.
@@jeanekarussell2195 I made a couple of investments but my investment in forex and crypto has been yielding good profits and I don't think of stopping anytime soon.
Stock, Real Estate, hedge funds and ETFs are good investments as well 😊
@@tinamanuel2305 I'd like to learn more about forex, I've made research but I still get confused at some point, what do you suggest ? I'm 31 now. Really looking into investing for a long time now. Can you share how you started your investment, type of investments and how you are earning from it please?
Nice one 👏
I’m going into my first semester of nursing school and have been binge watching all your videos. I loved this one, thank you so much for making it 🥺💖
Thank you so much girl!! Im so happy you enjoy them! 🥰💕🌸
Good luck!
How is it going at school, Marilyn ? Got curious

Thank you!
I appreciate you

There are students in my class who do the opposite after an exam. They do really really well, then go around to everyone else to brag about it. “How did you do!?! Oh you got an 89 that’s really good for you. I got a 97! Ok bye~” Ugh. But they don’t come around when they fail/barely pass.
I never share my grades.
Those are the WORST!! I’m surprised more people don’t talk about this topic to be honest!
My classmates are like that. I hate it.
I'm a Junior, who is thinking about going into nursing school for an ADN and then transfer to hopefully get my BSN. I found this very helpful. I love your videos!
I'm not even in nursing school yet, I'm actually in 8th grade, but I'm going to apply for early college, and I'm going to study nursing. These videos actually help me a lot, I write down a lot of notes so I start ahead.
I'm in 8th grade this year and planning on early college classes too , ive also trying to plan my high school schedule based on it
So grateful for this! I’ll be starting nursing school this upcoming spring semester so me and my bestie are binge watching all pre nursing videos. Thank you for this and wishing you the best in your career!
I just got accepted into nursing school for this fall! I'm saving this video because I could use all the tips/advice I can get! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this video! I’m finishing up my pre reqs and begin my RN program next August. This has helped a ton!
I appreciate this video SO much! I start my nursing classes in August and I’m so ready! Of course I’m nervous, but I’m really passionate about this career choice. This video really has given me some great tips for starting school. Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much for your channel! I am about to be a senior in high school but luckily know I want to be a nurse and have already signed up to take some of my prerequisites! Definitely very nervous and afraid of entering this new world after high school but determined because I can totally see myself being a nurse and helping others. Your videos are really helping! :)
I start nursing school in January and I’m so excited and ready to begin this journey. Thank you so more for the tips and I hope your last semester is amazing!!! I’m a CNA and CCHT and having a great nurse is one of the biggest things for a CNA and I can tell you will be an amazing nurse!! 💜
💕💕
i discovered ur channel maybe 1 or 2 days ago and i’ve been binging ever since . you’re videos are soo soo good and i don’t even wanna be a nurse (wanna go into med school and do something with kids) so kinda like you wanting to be a pediatric nurse .. anyways i love your videos keep em coming , you should do one where u show how you take your notes in nursing school , like how in the pediatric video u were talking about separating by infant , toddler , stuff like that . i would love to see that !! and just tons of more videos
p.s ... even though i don’t wanna be a nurse i am taking this nursing aide class we have at our community college next year for my 11th grade year and it basically provides you with basic nursing skills and we learn things like anatomy , geriatrics , physiology , nutrition , and others .. so i’m super excited for that just to have an idea and head start for when i go to med school !!
(ahhhhhh she liked 😁☺️)
I have been working as a CNA for 3 years and I'll be starting my first year of nursing school this September. Your second tip reminded me of the time when I was practicing CPR on my 2ft tall stuffed animal. It seemed silly but it helped. I remember my first actual code blue and I just felt helpless because I froze. Now I review it with my plushie just to make sure that I'm comfortable in the situation.
How is being a CNA? Is it worth it? Ive been thinking about being a CNA but people say its not worth it.
@@Alaynahh It is EXTREMELY worth it! I'm about to enter my 2nd semester of my BSN program, and I've been a CNA for 4yrs. Everything we went over my first semester in clinicals, was stuff I already knew from being a CNA/CMA (medication aide). It helped me tremendously, and its also a huge confidence booster when you already know the stuff and can perform it properly. Also, it gets you comfortable with talking to patients before you start school. Talking to patients is a learned skill.
I 100% agree with all these tips! Not comparing grades and taking care of yourself is especially sooo important. Started second semester of first year today woo! :)
I love this video!! Thanks for being so real and helping us all out girl❤️
You nailed it about not sharing your grades! I've experienced that with some of my classmates and I can't stand it. It's toxic and one shouldn't be pressured into doing that.
So much anxiety about starting August 26. We can do this
That's the same day I start. We got this though!
You got it girl!!
Jillian Hoover me too
I’m starting Aug 26
Same start date!
Me too. May we survive through nursing school.
I loved this video!! It was very informative and waaaaay more in depth/ less generic then the 100's of other "what to do before starting nursing school" videos I have been watching! (literally I have been watching them nonstop) and they all say "do nothing, relax before you start" etc etc I'm like no I want to know what I should be doing NOW and that's exactly what you did! Thank you :D
I’m starting nursing school in September and I’m so excited but I’m also so nervous, your videos are very informative and are helping me prepare for this exciting career!
I'm starting nursing school on september 1st and i'm so excited but also kinda scared that i'll make to many mistakes and mess everything up. But i actually love your Videos! They kinda help me to not drown in anxiety ❤
Okay, this has been the best nursing school tips video I have watched!! Thank you!
Thank you very much for making this video, Jackie. This really could help in maintaining our enthusiasm and positivity. I am looking forward to your next video!🙌
Girl please you are so beautiful! 🥺 These tips were amazing & I’m so glad I found your channel. You definitely came through with some unheard tips!
This honestly was a breath of fresh air for me!. I have been battling with myself for years about the decision to go to nursing school. My mother in law who has her Doctorates in Nursing sat me down and told me to do it so Im putting all these fears away and go.
That is amazing.. congrats on taking the hardest step 💕
How is it
Omg one of the things I definitely want to prioritize is going to the gym. I know how easy it is to not go especially when I'm overwhelmed but it is the ONLY thing that keeps my head right for school!! I have anxiety and working out is my antidote. I also notice that it actually helps my memory and mental acuity, which I think will be crucial for nursing school.
GREAT tips!! Oh my goodness, girl! Thank you so much. I am really grateful for ladies like you. Keeping us positive and enthusiastic. Take good care
I’m going into my first semester of nursing school starting next week. Thanks for taking the time to make this video! 😄
Congrats!! 💗
This is my favorite video of yours so far! I start nursing school for my BSN in 3 weeks! 💙
Thank you so much!! I think the nerves are finally getting better so I’m not so awkward and high pitched as I used to be 😂
I’m a first semester nursing student and I follow sooooo many nursing you tubers but you definitely just became my top 5! Thank you!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!! I try to bring as much info as possible, and take time preparing ❤️
Who are your other 4?
she just became one of my faves too
Thank you for this video!!!! I’m starting nursing school this fall and i’m so excited ❤️❤️ this video was super helpful!
Thank you so much for this video! I'm starting nursing school in January and I'm taking so many notes based on your videos! :)
Great video, thank you for the tips! I start my two year nursing program in the fall. While I’m excite I’m also petrified because I’m not that great of a test taker! I struggle with comprehension and so I get a lot of extra help, extra time on exams. My school also provides multiple resources for students. They provide a coach who helps you with studying, time management, anything that you struggle with, they also have tutors that you can see once or twice a week for the semester, and an app you can download on your computer that you can take notes on it and it records the lecture. You just have to sign up for it before the semester, which I did!
Also, not related to nursing but you look like Salma Hayek 🌹🥰
The advice on getting to know your professors! Amazing! Yes! Thank youuu!!!
Yooo...super practical and insightful. I love your energy. Thank you for making the time to help us rookies out, gal. I'm kinda terrified tbh. I'm old af and am outta my league. Your video I paid attention to and wrote all your tips down. Grateful for you. 🙏
Thank you so much for the great tips, and just your positive attitude. I am beginning school in December, and I am riding a fence between excitement😄 and anxiety😳.
Thank you I’m not in Nursing school just yet but I’m applying for the spring semester with hopes that I get in. I’m praying about it but your tips are really helpful I can practice ahead of time so when that time comes I’ll have a little knowledge.
love the shirt, love the background, love everything about this video!!!
Thank you so much girl!
Love this thanks I just recently decided to go back to school and I’m interested in nursing. I love your vibe thanks for all the tips.
Thanks for making this video just in time for my first nursing semester in late August :)
I just have a few more classes for my pre reqs before I apply to the nursing program. Thank you for these tips!.. btw I love your energy and personality ❤️❤️
Thanks girl!! 💗💗🥰
I recommend some of this for medical assisting. These are awesome tips and I look forward to using them for when I start nursing in July. Thank you!!!!
This is so inspiring. I want to be a nurse so badly. I’m only in high school still, but I’m doing college courses as well. I’m nervous because I’ve never liked school but I have a huge passion for helping others.
Such great info even as returning nursing student ( I failed out the first time) this will help when I go back so thank you.
here’s a tip: start off getting your CNA or MA cause it’ll help you so much with nursing school !!!
i’m so glad i started my healthcare career early and got my CNA at 16, i do most of these things all the time & start nursing school next week !
@Samantha Olson how did you get ur CNA at 16 ?? that’s be highschool !! do you need to go to college/highschool together or is there sum sort of program u enroll to?
MA where I live is $16,000. No thanks!!
@@noellesupremacy3460 my high school offered a bridge program that certified you all 4 years. i got my MA, EMS/EMT, CNA & 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch license throughout my 4 years of high school and they offer criminal justice, police work, firefighters. it was just a lot of programs that helped guide us who didn’t know what we wanted to do without spending a bunch of money on college
@@jenf7309 volunteer at hospitals. look for scholarships
@@evelynmartin5344 ehh I’m starting nursing school in September so probably not going to waste time on that
you’re so cute!! thank you for this video, i find out if i get into the Nursing Program or not in February 🥺 wish me luck!!!! ❤️
You are like the 5th video I have watched and the ONLY person who actually gave the most helpful tips. So sorry to be a downer,w but everyone else would just say the most basic things like it's hard and stay outta drama, but never gave actual tips for success. Thank you girl!!
The last one I totally agree on. I just finished up my CNA and in my clinicals, once I checked off on something, I was always running around for something to do. I was always asking the CNAs that worked there "what do you need help with?" I don't know if it was the willingness to learn or my ADD, but I learned a lot!
I'm starting nursing school in September and these tips sound great! Thank you so much love your vids
How’s nursing so far?
Hello I am currently in my 3quarter of nursing school and medical terminology is essential to better understand all the courses. Thank you so much for sharing this video it really is not explained in nursing school how important it is. This video is tremendously helpful and hope you keep sharing.
I just started my first semester of nursing school and I really wanna be a good nurse I feel lost but I’m just trying to do my best. I’m literally gonna take EVERY SINGLE TIP to heart
Congrats Jackie... great job on the 7 tips - keep up the awesome job
FINALLY A VIDEO THATS ACTUALLY HELPFUL!!
I’m starting nursing school this coming January 2021 and just finished my orientation today. And DAMN the amount of information I am supposed to absorbed is making my anxiety act up lol do you have any tips on how to deal with anxiety while I’m nursing school?
Also love this video! I appreciate all the tips so much 💖💖
Oh goodness I'm starting in August 2021 and don't even know where to begin! How are things going?
@@eliboyle22 me too 🙌🏾 we will be fine
How is it going for you guys?
I'm staring my nursing school this year and idk what to expect
I’m so bad at comparing my grades to others (even pre-nursing) and getting nervous at first when I was training to be CNA. Thanks so much.
Thank you for the tips. This is so helpful! I start my first semester in August 🙂.
I’m thinking of becoming a mental health psych nurse so I love these videos
i’m pre-nursing and i’m so nervous to start nursing school in may! these videos help so much ❤️
How’s nursing so far?
How is it going
Finishing up my AS in spring 2022. Starting nursing in between then and fall 2022. I’m excited but nervous given the fact I started at the worst time, during the pandemic. Everything was online. I graduated back in 2011 and having to start over and learn all of this information over again by myself was very difficult. I just hope as I go into nursing school I can gradually adapt to the environment and learn more easily. I’m so intimidated. 😩
I've been practicing on my kids and friends, but the one advantage as a 50 year old man starting nursing school... I'm never uncomfortable with patients
Perfect and precise video. Thank you
I'm looking forward to study nursing
Yooo im startin nursing school in August as well and im super nervous and excited....but this video by far has me feeling more excited than nervosu it was super helpful and im actually going to use most of these tips....thank you lol
Coronavirus really screwed me up. I was supposed to do L&D and Adult 2 but, now we are online for everything. Last term starts in July hoping to see the inside of the hospital.
I'm starting my 1st semester August 26 and I am super excited, nervous and scared at the same time! Watching this video will help me prepare for my 1st semester. Thank You!
Upcoming nursing student here. Thank you for this video!!! 💉👌🏽
I scored really high in anatomy I got this. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️I’m not going to give up because I know I can do this.
Thank you for a good video! I am entering an accelerated RN-MSN program for individuals with a bachelors that is not in nursing. I’m SOO nervous even though I’ve completed a degree 🤣
How is your program going? 😊 And, did you have medical experience prior to starting school? Like CNA, PCT, Medical assistant, etc...
I have my bachelors (non-nursing) and considered RN-MSN, but have a really low cuml gpa. I'm starting an Associates RN program next month, Jan 21', then I'll bridge to at least my BSN. & I dont have any medical experience. I'm nervous but ready 😩😬
I got a confirmation to join a nursing school here in my country ,Kenya. I must say I have this anxiety of what to expect and what is expected of me. I have to say that I do love going to the gym very much . I t gives me a safe mental space and I was wondering if I will manage gyming and studying and I must say from this piece of information I definitely know I must gym! no matter what. Thankyou
Oh my gosh Jackie, thank you for your videos
I love all of your videos 💕 they're very helpful!
Yay! That’s so great to hear, thank you 😊💗💗
Thank so much for your advise! Super helpful & original 🤩
Best starter video out. Thank U!
I’m starting my pre reqs to get into nursing school. I’m so so excited.
Just got in the nursing program so watching youtube videos to help me this fall!!
Would you ever make a video explaining what you learn each year of nursing school? Like skills you learn 1st year, and then 2nd year and etc? I’m super curious! Thanks
I started my nursing school this month. Thank you for advice
Also asking to do anything extra in the hospital! Yes. Not being afraid to learn as much as possible hands-on in clinicals. Yes.
I start tomorrow and have been binge watching videos and yours by far, has been the most helpful! You will be an amazing nurse
This means so much to me. I put so much effort to make sure I am as detailed as I can be. I know it’s super nerve wrecking, and I’m so happy I’ve been able to help ❤️ congrats on starting!! ✨
I want to be a nurse so bad but I have really bad anxiety with everything :/ talking to doctors, talking to people in general. But I want to help others and care for them.
You’ll do fine, don’t give up
girl my advise is to become a certified nursing assistant first! it’s a hell of a lot cheaper to do and you’re sort of dipping your toes into patient care. you’ll see then if it’s something you can really do and it’ll be a great introduction/learning curve! i’m currently a cna and in nursing school and i really feel like it helped me develop skills that are going to be so beneficial for me when i’m a nurse! hope this helps !
I totally understand you. I'm not a nurse but I use to work at a clinic working side by side with doctors and nurses. I use to be afaird to approach doctors but once I got to know them Doctors are really cool to work with.
That’s just something that takes practice :) it’s just another skill you can do it
Don’t give up but maybe think of medical jobs that don’t require to have that much anxiety with talking to people maybe surgical tech or something like that where the patient is asleep
This was GREAT information! Thank you!
holy shit, great advice about the thank you cards! im very quiet in all my classess so thatll def backfire when looking for rec letters. thank you ima take that tip
First.... I love your shirt!
Thank you! I’m so in love with it 💕
Is it friends inspired?😃 Loved your video! Subscribing🙂
This is very practical advice! Thank you.
Thank you so much, this video was super helpful. I start my BSN program in the spring and I’ll definitely be using these tips :)
One of the best ways to prepare yourself and get a grounding is getting your CNA/SRNA and working as a tech if/when you can! You'll learn a lot of basic skills, become comfortable with patients and get to watch nurses do their work in person.
Anyone starting in the spring ?
