Here are my words of gratitude to all the Type O fans, I appreciate the kind words but I'm more happy than anything to give us fans a second wind. Yes, I'm a fan. That's why I did this and the experience was intense for me, leaving the technicalities and the nitpicking aside. I know I don't sound exactly like Pete and I wouldn't want to, I'm just happy to mix it up with great people who share a common interest in music, keeping the Type O legacy alive and introducing an inactive band to a new generation. Lord knows music needs an identity these days.

Believe it or not, this was the first version I've heard of "Dark Horse;" it wasn't until just 3 minutes ago that I first listened to Katy Perry's version. And after listening to it for about 2 minutes, I told myself her song felt incomplete. It's a syndrome I tend to suffer that the first version of a song that I hear, I establish that one as the "Real" version of the song.
Same with me actually, I've been fixated on this for ages then finally chose to listen to Katy's version, it's just not the same for this evokes so much more haha.
It's the same if you watch the parody first.

I mean if I hear Katys version of Dark horse I keep hearing the 20 style version on my mind but to call the first version you hear the real version? I get it that you'd keep comparing it to the first you heard since thats the first one you heard. You don't have anything else to compare it to.

Well, yes, it's something that I "came up with." I know it sounds disrespectful to the original artist (in some way) to favor a cover over the original because it was the cover I heard first. I don't know if I'm the only one who experiences that, or if this act has an actual name besides the dismissive "douchebagness." I'll share some examples to clarify:
-Los Lobos - La Bamba
-Kim Wilde - You Just Keep Me Hangin' On
-Metallica - Astronomy
-Megadeth - No More Mr. Nice Guy

This got me into Type O Negative many years ago, and now that I’m watching it again after listening to much of Type O’s music, I can really fully appreciate how goddamned ace this cover is. This dude is legit.
The re-stylized music fits the song's lyric more (at least, in me) ; seductive, yet threatening. I can already feel the "dark magic" in it. I love to listening this over and over. Thanks for giving me a great eargasm experience, Anthony.

I love this! it was a sad day when Peter Steele died and this cover really brings me back to the days he was still alive. You do an amazing job and I think Peter would be proud.
Peter would have loved this.... he would've Been watching it with a bottle of red wine in hand (I know he was sober towards the end but in my mind he'll always be that hulkish gothic self-loathing drunk that i'll always fuckin love) laughing that he never thought if this first lol, I mean you can do this style to almost any song and it'll sound great and he was the king of that... but damn Anthony you did a damn good job on this... this coming from a rabid type o fan since the early nineties.... too be honest I was kind passed when I came across it being the close minded asshole I am when it comes to something I love because it seems the longer I live the fewer those things are but you won me over... you even got the right mix of reverb and distortion on the bass lol... once again good job and it would be cool if you did this style again because it is surprisingly popular (faith in humanity restored lol)

Only thing missing is a bit deeper of a voice and the rolling of the "R's" if it had that this would be completely spot on, definitely sounds Type-O though! Please do more Type-O styled songs in the future because this is awesome!
And maybe rounding out the tone would also help out, Peter really had a heavy accent when singing.

I must have listened to this a hundred times over the years. To me- it’s the definitive version of the song.. far eclipsing the Katy Perry rendition. And I don’t think I’m alone in saying that it got me back into Type O Negative- Type O are one of my favourite bands of all time!

I would have never given Type 0 Negative a second thought if you hadn't introduced me to them in your 20 Styles videos. I just usually hate bands like that - but something about Type 0 is pretty great. I guess what you've taught me is that I should keep a more open mind to music.

Every little nuance, in the music AND the video - I cant stop listening, and I’m sure on seeing/hearing it, Kenny, Josh and Johnny were flattered, moved and appreciated such a fun, heartfelt cover from a true fan. I’m speaking for ALL TON fans when I say we need a full album of covers with this level of love and attention to detail - WELL DONE!!!!
