Enjoy the sights and sounds as I shed out some of the horses' winter coats!
I can't believe how crazy Prim's coat looks right now, such a unique color she is turning this year!

I showed my shedding cat this video hoping to inspire her by how well behaved the horses are while you brush them. She just kinda looked at me like "Yeah, well, I'm not a horse" before she took off.
Hilarious 😅
My cats hate brushing ...we are boys .
We don't need this ...
Every night my cat “Butch” will remind me with a tap on my leg and a very vocal meow. I’ll tell home “if you want to be brushed then go get the brush” off he goes to his box and soon he’ll come back with one of many brushes I have for him. It’s funny how in the spring it’s usually the shedding blade he brings to me. My dad saids that cat is smarter then 90% of the human population.
I can see "the Look". 🐈
What is it about boy cats? My 3 all hate grooming. No. 1, You can saddle and bridle me and take me outside but forget the grooming stuff, No. 2, Back off, I'll do it myself! No. 3, Try that and you won't see me til dinner.
This video is hypnotic and quite calming. But I am feeling itchy,😂
Thank you for a most restful video for an old retired hand whose memories had good company today. ⾺
Same! I want one of those shedding tools and go to the trail ride stable just out of town, and go crazy on the herd; just for the satisfaction and the hay and the poo smells of all the lovely horses. I miss them so...
Oh my goodness, my parrot has started making this scraping noise😮
Hahahaja😅
The bird was impressed!!!
That’s funny and not funny all at the same time.
This must feel great to them. I just watched 28 minutes of you 'shedding out' your horses and loved it. I don't need the sounds of ocean waves or waterfalls to relax, just you shedding out your horses! 🐴❤
I’m thinking the same thing. 😊
Skeletor’s face….bliss… Humans is good people!
“I love this, mom”.
I love that you let Mother Nature have the horses’ winter coats!
I apologize for the intruders who leave nasty or critical comments. They live among us but they must have sad lives. It’s not just you. They seem to find some weird status value in hurting people they don’t even know!
You are one of the kindest CZcamsrs. Tons of us love you and are grateful that we have you in our life 🤗
I can’t believe I just watched a whole video of you shedding horses …. And how satisfying it was!!! One of the best CZcams videos ever :)
Working with horses as mediation or karma yoga 😉
Me too !
Wow! Prim is just getting more and more beautiful.
Her dapples are adorable!
I know! Thinking I might have to keep her, a few more years wouldn’t hurt 😁
@@TheCleverCowgirl she seems to be good minded and has good conformation, and so much eye candy. Reigning horse? They’re usually pretty splashy.
She’s a beauty!
Thank you for putting the horses names on the screen, i still have trouble taking them apart ❤
I'm still learning, too! 😂
Me too! ❤️
Well, it looks like another brown horse. ❤❤❤
👍
My grandmother had a mattress pad and several seat cushions stuffed with horse hair that she had made. This vlog demonstrates how plentiful a commodity that was every spring! ❤
My Grandmother too. Days gone by.
Search: Horsehair Know How-Western Folklore Center
“Tools of the Trade: Braided, Twisted and Tied / Horsehair Know How
Traditionally, there were three basic ways to work horsehair: twisting, hitching, and braiding or plaiting. Ropes are mostly twisted. Bridles and quirts are hitched, and belts and hatbands are either hitched or braided.”
- From Trappings of the Great Basin Buckaroo by Jeff Sailors
“…As the twister twists, you feed this hair out and it makes one strand. You'll twist maybe six of those single strands, and then you'll take three of the single strands and you'll twist them back together, around each other, in the opposite direction. And that holds them together. And you twist three together, then you twist three more together, so now you have two strands of three each. Then you double those two strands in half so that you have four strands, and then you twist them the opposite way, which is the way you twisted the single strands to start with. And when you twist them back together, those four, it twists back together real tight and then you have a finished product. That's called a mecarty.”

Horsehair makes a good stuffing material, CC could probably wash it up and sell it on Ebay 👍
The birds are going to love all that horsehair for their nests.
Makes one appreciate how dense their winter undercoat is in your climate. They must really enjoy getting the itches scratched.
Is it weird to say that was really relaxing 😅❤❤
@@beckysmith7778 Nope!
@@beckysmith7778 Not at all! I thought so too. ❣️🍀
I enjoy watching your videos because you show us what it takes to own horses. Your love and dedication towards their care, and the time and effort to be a rancher. We can all see how much you truly appreciate each one individually, Including your precious fur babies, your kitty Tiny, and dog Huckleberry. Life is not easy, and it takes a great amount of work and persistence. When I watch you I see not only a "clever cowboy", but a lovely, caring, hard working woman, who is unique in her own ways. This was so nice to see the horses up close, being brushed, and it allowed us to see their beautiful markings better. I did miss Nigel though, another little , precious ,unique, beauty, but I understand. May God Bless you and your most amazing family, giving you the support and continual strength and confidence to do what you are doing.
Lovely to spend a while there 'with ' you, to get to see the horses close up, and to feel the beauty and silence of your landscape, catching glimoses of the distant mountains, hearing birds call as they pass by on the breezes. Heaven ❤❤❤
I bet the birds will love this too ❤❤
Some bird or gopher is going to be really happy with all that soft nesting material!
No Way! Its over Already!? So simple, yet So mesmerizing! Its like watching Chocolate or candle wax flow.
I feel like your hands and arms must've felt so cramped and achy after that, but the horses look Gorgeous!! Its no wonder Prim has to be kept locked away, she is one beautiful girl!! It makes my heart ache to see the scars, some of these majestic, precious souls bare! Thank you for saving them CC, loving them as deeply as you do, sharing their happy, sassy existence, and bright futures with us! 🥰💗🐎❤️💖🙏
So satisfying, like pulling weeds.
Less painful!!!
🎉
When I brushed old coat out of my long haired cats, I used to think I had enough to knit a kitten!
Satisfying to see the old hair come out. Birds appreciate it for their nests. ❤🇨🇦
😂😻
Hilarious….knitting a kitten.
Pete is a lot darker than some of the other horses. Really glad to see the horses up close too. Love it!
Pete’s dapples are gorgeous! Aww poor guy noticed he was being filmed 😂
That is so satisfying to watch and hear. Even the train in the background 😊
so satisfying ! love the names ... and Prim's coloring is GORGEOUS !!
Pete is such a sensitive soul. And so observant!
Horse, birds, and all of us made happy! Thanks!❤
Pete’s dappled coat is gorgeous ❤️❤️
11:00 - Gus said "Oh yeah, that's the spot!" I bet all the horses enjoyed the brushing. 🥰
My Uncle and I know the feeling!! Shedding and Grooming time!! Once it get warm?? You have to get the horse's together!! You have a KNACK For having everything that you need!! That's why you are The Clever Cowgirl!!😊❤!!
I bet that feels good. There should be something useful to do with all that loose hair. I wish I was there and could help.
@nancyskinner5207 Thank You, Nancy!! Really Appreciate Your Reply And Your Offer To Help!! ❤️❤️😁😁
@@nancyskinner5207 Birds LOVE the shed hair and use it for their nests.
Watching this video makes me think about offering help to a friend of mine who has a couple of horses. Of course it is primarily to be there and rub them and touch their soft noses but I’m sure I would do some brushing
Thanks, Kim!! Really Appreciate Your Heartwarming Reply!!❤
This zen experience will be my new meditation tape. What a satisfying day you must have had!
Little Gus had spa face. That look when you've had all treatments and you feel all relaxed and slightly buzzed 🥴
That looks like it feels good, like wiping out an itch they can’t reach. They certainly stand still while you are doing it.
All of the horses are in great condition. It was fun to watch Skeletons reactions. Prim is so pretty. Thanks for the videos.
I always felt like the enjoyment of grooming was almost as good as the enjoyment of the ride. 😀
Pete sure is dappled out, even with his winter coat.
He sure is!
This reminds me of one of those videos showing master craftsmen at work. The task is mundane, boring and yet, soothing. The results, though, are stunning. 😃
And I'm thinking that there's a lot of lip smacking and other signs of, "Oh yeah, that's the spot!" Going on!
HOLY SMOKES! Takes me back to my youth & brushing out winter coats, however, we were in the Burbs of Seattle, Wa. and the horses had blankets in the winter. Spoiled, huh! I did help groom the school horses (no blankets) but everyone had an inside stall. It's amazing how animals adapt in nature. At one time I felt sorry for horses outside in winter - after I got older the horses with only limited turnout (4 hrs daily) all had mental problems - weaving, cribbing, biting stall bars....like being in jail 20 hours a day. It was very relaxing watching you take off the horses winter coats. They all seem happy, even those that had a rough start......Thank You for being so KIND😊❤❤
A simple task that had its own rhythm and pace that gave a pleasure that will not be found with a smartphone. 😉
I love shedding season! Very satisfying CC! I'm sure your horses loved this. I'm heading out to work on my horses. It's very relaxing and a great way to bond with our horses. 🐎❤
Pete is like. Mom, I hate to tell you this but you have something growing out of your head. Maybe it’s a third eye. Lol
They have a lot of winter hair to come off. Your horses are blessed to have you because you care for them. God bless you.
Sweet! Nice that you can walk right behind them without any troubles. . .
I wouldn’t be a very good horse trainer if I couldn’t 🤠
@@TheCleverCowgirl Of course! As a kid taking riding lessons - even going to horse camp - still young - "Never walk behind the horse" was always warned. Maybe the camera makes it seem that you are closer than you are - or naturally your horses know and trust you completely. Amazes me and kudos to you.
Skeletor thought u were tickling😂 him and got surprised! He is so inquisitive! They all have such a beautiful keen colorings and markings. Thank U!😊❤
You could see the horses loved the grooming today. Prim has lovely dappled on her buckskin colors. Goose with his deep golden maple and Pete's colors reminded me of a dark mule oh yeah loved every second. Skeletor is handsome and kindhearted he just wanted this to last all day! All your sweet darlins coats look healthy. Great day Clever Cowgirl 🌹🐎🌻
you gotta know they love this! Whiplash was extra fuzzy, it's very satisfying to see all that old hair come loose and fall out. You know that they appreciate it.
Sweet Pete, glad he didn't get spooked too badly.
That's really satisfying to watch!
I cannot believe how much hair comes off, but still plenty left 😳
I wish I'd had a shedding brush/comb like this when I had my husky. I always felt the same--how much hair! and still more left! and so satisfying to get it done...over several days...
@@user-no9ow1gx9i I have a hairy border collie, at least the birds are making use of it
@@user-no9ow1gx9i I have a border collie with long hair, she seems to be of the understanding it adds flavour to food 😳
Cheeky Gus suddenly became such a good boy for his grooming 😂😂💖💖
Whiplash shed out an entire 2nd pony! Also always lovely to get a close-up of the horses
So much hair! I bet the birds in the area have the softest nests!!! They looked like they really enjoyed it!😘❤️🙏🏻✨
I liked getting a good look at the horses close-up. I bet they really felt good afterward. I am sure that grooming is good for them, to feel cared for and special.
Hypnotic, love the go-pro, gives such a good perspective of both sides. Glad you put up names - all were good boys. Then there is Miss Prim. My Grandmother used to go up to the ranch - collect the hair, wash it - used it for all sorts of magical things. Long-long time ago. Thanks extended my coffee break. Enjoy the weather there’s a change a coming. Spring is like that.
The video production and editing of C.C.'s videos are top notch 👍
@@artemisXsidecross Yes they are. Enjoy them very much.
love the colours in Prim coat. looks like all the horses enjoy it
Lady Prim is being such a good girl! They all seem to love the special attention. Good horseies!!!
I wish I had a de-shedding tool like the one you use back when I had horses. It is amazing and you are a terrific groomer. Love you videos. Never miss a new one!
Ahhh, this was so satisfying to watch. I bet that feels so good to the horses; like a massage and a good scratch at the same time. I love all your horses and think they're all beautiful in their own right, but I have to say that Prim is just stunning! Gorgeous coat and coloration on her; what a beauty.
The birds near your property must have the coziest nests.
Blew their coats, like a popsicle stand! ❤ Very satisfying video!
Gosh Prime has a such beautiful coloring! She’s quite striking, good looking horse
I’m so thankful to find your channel.
Within 6 months I lost my youngest dog (6years old) in a freak accident, moved to the city and have to have my other large dog (same age) essentially fostered until I can fence in the yard and get a handle on the neighbors feral cats, and then I lost my soul dog (12 years old) to heart failure last month.
It’s been so rough personally, but being able to forget all my problems- even for just 5 minutes- and having my heart soothed by your lovely voice and narration, brings me a little joy and peace.
Thank you for sharing your life with us and giving me a break from an empty home. I know you’re all about horses but seeing Huckleberry reminds me of my youngest boy in so many ways, I’d love a little storytime about him!
Again, thank you for all that you do.
Best of luck in all your future endeavors and sending you lots of love!
❤️
Finally, proof that spring is here and summer is on the way! Now back to the fun chores like riding and working the horses.😁
🐴🐎 All of your buddies are looking good!
I was watching this last night. It was so setting and calming. I loved it! Thank you! 🥰
I can feel horses hair on my face watching this 😂
This has to make all of the horses feel so much cooler. I think Prim is turning into such a pretty horse. Unusual coloring.
Oh, Prim's dapples. THis must be so satisfying :)
Lol I didn’t realize you got a GoPro; that’s great. Should be so much easier!
It’s horrible 😆. I look like an idiot and I have a kink in my neck. Surprisingly easier with just my phone!
That must feel so good to them. It feels so satisfying watching this
Your horses all love you and patiently wait for you to do whatever needs done. They totally trust you. Thanks for sharing.💜😊💜
I could do that for hours also ! It’s not considered cores to me. I love seeing there summer coat from threw and there different bay and buckskin colors with dapples are so pretty. Especially Pete. I really like him.
Thanks for the vid !
❤️🐴
Brings back memories of my dogs molting.
I always made sure I was up wind before I started de-shedding my horses. Hated all the dust and hair flying all over my face. The herd looks great, looks like they made it through the winter with no problems. Your hard work paid off.
It's funny how relaxing this is to watch. Lol
This is very relaxing!
I miss brushing out the winter coat. What a transformation. ♥
Hi, Clever Cowgirl. At last your boys and girls get rid of their winter coat. They are so calm and well behaved. Obviously they like all the attention they get. They love all the love and pampering they get from you. Emjoyed so much watching this video. Wisj you all the best. Lots of love❤
CC pulling off the video of relaxation and chill. ❣️🍀
My goodness, the birds around your area are absolutely going to LOVE you guys.
The horses are just divine and so so beautiful. Very therapeutic watching this, and I’m sure the horses think/feel that also🥰🤣♥️
Had to look up “ASMR”. Deeply relaxing! 😌
Aww, Pete has DAPPLES! 😍
…This was so enjoyable to watch and listen to. Pete showed us his fancy two step, and the sniff test, and Prim is a beauty from nose to tail. I bet every horse loved your individual attention, Cowgirl. ☺️ 👱🏻♀️ 🌾 🐴🤎
Excellent 👍 ......I could actually smell the dirt and the horse hair....of days long ago, with the trance the shedding blade put me in. Thanks for that ! Cindy 🐴
They are so beautiful.
What a nice way to start a day! Thank you! 🐎
When I have a long day at work, I watch this video. So calm, quiet, meditative. Thank you. I wish I could have helped you.
You had the perfect day for this project. I remember making the mistake of shedding out on a windy day.......hair in my eyes, mouth and up my nose.
This is what they used to stuff furniture with a century ago! I bet it feels really good to them.
I'm glad to see you have a go pro so you can use both your hands 😊
How soothing for you and each horse.
Awww, one of the most satisfying things! Brings back lovely memories of my 'Boys' 🐎 who have both long since crossed the rainbow 🌈 bridge 💞. I loved to see their bottom lips go all wobbly and their eyes go all sleepy as they rested a back leg dozing while I would pamper them grooming out all the loose itchy hair in Spring! 🥰
De-shedding hack: a coarse file tool (wood rasp) works wonders as well!
🤩What a great way to check your horses for pain / wounds like you did with Prim's neck! TY!
Thanks for giving me the best night's sleep I've had in ages and some pain relief. Completely unexpected. Loved your video ❤
Amazing! Thank you so much !
Haters gonna hate....do your best to ignore or block them.
Because your videos are the bomb.
That is an awesome tool you are using! I can just feel all of them relaxing and going "ahhhh". ❤❤❤
This is oddly satisfying to watch.
Wow! Look at the dapples on Pete!
It appeared they all enjoyed getting all that dead winter coat off. They were so relaxed and loving the moment. I also didn't realize you still have many of the horses you talk about, but I don't remember them. I would love to hear the stories behind Goose, Whiplash, Stewy and Friscobill someday when you have a few extra moments.
The horses looked relieved to get all that extra hair off. I bet your arms were pretty tired, though, after that power-shedding session. ❤
It's amazing how much hair they shed. I feel that way when I brush my Lab! I bet they feel so much better! You take such good care of them!❤
A few years ago, I was given a shedding blade like you used in the video. Ingenious, why didn’t we think of it ourselves? lol
The dust coming off is amazing!
"I love work. I can watch it for hours." Thanks again for another great video CC. You know your audience!! ❤
