BEST COMMENT Ever 100% agree!!! As a black women born in America I don't identify biracial women as black women. MOST black people look dark brown, darker than a paper bag, to midnight black with tight curls, coils and kinks...Why identify with something else? Biracial women SHOULDN'T represent black people, they have their own race category in which they can identify with aka "mixed/biracial community". As black people we should be careful with who we identify with because it WILL create a COMPLEX in how we see OURSELVES and affect how the younger generation see THEMSELVES.
As yourself...Why would I identity with a person that doesn't look like me, doesn't have the same life experience or privilege as I do?

Breanna Nouveaux it's not just an American thing it's universal so please don't pretend like the UK, Canada, or other countries are any different. Colorism is universal. Blackness is seen as unattractive all around so let's stop making this strickly a US thing. I truly hate when people do that as if their own countries aren't doing the same.

I was told by headhunters to take my braids out and straighten my hair to get a job. I kept my braids and got a well paying job. PS I always let people touch my hair when they compliment my style or simply ask to and the always say WOW, even white and black men. One older black man asked me who did my hair. People can be like children simply curious. A white woman approached me and told me her friends loved my hair and sen her to ask me if they could touch. Of course they could. Big smiles all around.

    • @--legion
      @--legion Před rokem +2

No. You think that Dove should be doing more. Dove/Unilever is a disgusting company exploiting women's weaknesses. Subtle hint? 'Let's change beauty' - do you really think Nature gives two-hoots for an adolescent hashtag campaign, that Nature's grand scheme of things will be derailed by defective feminist dogma? Do you really think obesity is the 'new beauty' or that mongolism will replace the healthy genome in men's affections? Because this is what it's all about - the feminist's detestation of everything men find attractive in a woman. And what makes it even more nauseating is Dove/Unilever's exploitation of this imbecility - a fawning "we care about you" hypocrisy. Dove/Unilever's execs 'care' as long as women buy their products.
I'm sure you wholeheartedly agree with the current idiocy - going after fat women, women with skin diseases, mongoloid women, and shaven-headed wimin with tats (lesbian clique). Subtle it is not.

She doesn't have other students at school make a game that you can't touch her hair because it's dirty. She doesn't have people ask her if she's homeless or assume she just doesn't brush it and she's not had her boss tell he to change her natural hair in the work place. People have grown up with Barbie and Hannah Montana as their versions of what should be the default. And she is the default. That's privilege.

Ky Reid yeah it's a commercial which explicitly states that the only reason why people earn more money is because they happened to have blonde hair and that's discriminatory against a group of people for a characteristic of themselves that they cannot change. I can think of hundreds of other commercials which celebrate natural hair which I personally think is beautiful that don't have to attack people with blonde hair and make it seem like they're privileged. it actually does the opposite of what they're trying to say because it just propagates that idea even more.
