Gio van Bronckhorst's worldie is probably my favourite goal ever that I've seen live on TV. You can't hit the ball better than that. Absolute perfection.

Manuel Negrete’s goal against Bulgary has to be at least number 2 in this list
Cambiasso for Argentina needs to be mentioned. Can't remember who it was against but it had like 45 passes or something before the ball hit the net, it was a superb goal. Argentina also scored a majestic free kick against England in 98 that never gets a mention yet is one of the best 'team' free kicks you will see.

The match also broke Spain for the rest of the tournament, so I'd say it was definitely important.
Defending champs knocked out in the group stages, winner's curse and whatnot, but still that Spanish team should not have gone out in the first round. RvP in my eyes will remain responsible for it. Puskas finalist as well... So yea!

That Saudi goal should be ranked higher than this. It looks not dissimilar to Maradona's "Goal of the Century", except he started even deeper in his own half, he ran faster, and the goal was just as improbable.

Michael Owen's goal against Argentina in 1998 definitely deserves a mention, especially as that was a goal that made Owen a bigger household name. This list should of been a top 20 since there has been more than 10 brilliant World Cup goals honestly.
I'm from Argentina and I must agree. It was a beautiful show of skill. It was unfortunate Owen's career never reached it's full potential, because he was an amazing player.

Saudi Arabias's goal against Belgium is almost the same as Maradona's goal...but better ...James Rodriguez goal should be way higher...it was awarded the best goal of the year not just the WC.
2026 Cup is gonna be epic; 3 organizing Countries basically the whole North America Continent. 50% more teams, meaning almost surely all the "great" teams will be present, because currently there's always 3-4 historic ones that miss the tournament because of how many countries there are and how competitive the qualifiers are. But with more room they will for sure attend, as well as many teams that have never gone, particularly in CONCACAF which will have its 3 big ones already in, leaving more room for Central America and the Caribbean.
