  • A couple years ago, Jim and his 1983 VW Rabbit GTI were featured in an episode of Cylinder Scene. Back then he said that he wanted to keep it as original as possible because his Dad (who worked at the VW plant where it was built) would have wanted to see it that way. Years later, it has taken on a bit of a different feel, but still has the spirit of the original hot hatch.
    Here is the original video:
    • A spotless, all origin...

I love it! Super Duper Rad! Love 80s box style cars. The dash is sweeet...😎

Had a nearly identical car as my first car back in '90. Aside from the really short gearing on the highway, it was probably my favorite car I've ever owned. That would be my one change. Making 5th gear a little taller. The chassis was excellent though. Interesting to see the red interior as I didn't think they came with the black exterior. Mine was the black/blue stripes interior with black exterior. Love what you've done though. Beautiful car with timeless styling.

It's funny you say that as I've never seen a black one that didn't have the red interior. My first car, at 16, was a silver one with the dark blue interior. Still my favorite car just ahead of the jazz blue 20ae mk4 I had.

I just bought one off Bring a Trailer. Paid $32,000 for it, but it's all original and only has 34,000 miles on it. I can't wait to get it delivered!

    Agreed regarding 2 doors... If it's not a 2 door, it's not a GTI.
