I loved the toxic mother-daughter chemistry screenwriters and the actors have brought on the screen! It is so well shown how Catherin wants to impress her mother, how she fails to get a praise on anything and how in fact mom brings a little girl from Catherin instead of this independend woman that she inspires to be. Such a great show it is!
Why Nicholas Hoult didn,t win nothing for that role the first season, he's one of the real " GREAT" mystery of this world...he was flawlessly funny, dangerous, sexy weird...great acting
Hm, I've never seen this show. I like both the actors but I saw some video on what a messed up relationship they have, how some people are romanticizing it although it's actually very unhealthy. I didn't know what to make of it, I didn't want to root for a couple that wouldn't be endgame? Just seems like unnecessary trouble to put yourself through. But it seems kinda interesting here, at least the dynamic seems engaging. Would anyone rec it? Will I have my heart broken?
I think most rational people know that these two do NOT have a healthy relationship. The show does not idolize their behavior in the relationship at all. But they ARE fitting together. Both Catherine and Peter swing between madness and greatness, selfish and mercurial. They are also two sides of the same coin; where one is merciful, the other is cruel, but their personalities can switch in an instant.
I'll be the first to admit they're the most toxic couple I've ever rooted for... even knowing Russian history and how this is going to end. They're awful for one another, totally toxic, bring out the worst in one another and are completely depraved. Yet, the chemistry between the two actors is OFF THE CHARTS... and the writing is so well done you can't help but root for this toxic, maligned, match made in hell.

the dialogue in this series is awesome. Not a lot of people can take the Great's absurdity, but it really grows on you.
