In some directions I saw online it said that if hit with the bludger you discard your hand not the points in front of you. What do you discard? 4. Besides discarding because of the bludger is there any other reason you discard?
Great questions - 1) In the rules all it says is "You may never have more than 5 cards in your hand at any time. Discard before you draw!" This means that you will often have to decide to discard a card or two and hope that the new cards you draw will help you complete a set with what you have chosen to keep. It's a key part of the game and is rather like the classic game Spoons. 2) Matching 3's need to be the exact same item. 3) The directions you saw online are correct, it's only your hand you discard. The points in front of you are safe. 4) No, nothing else makes you discard your hand. If someone gets a pair of chasers they can steal a set of items from another player but that's the only other bad thing that can happen to you. But really, the worst thing that can happen to you in this game is having to be the one to chase down and retrieve a Bludger so you can get back to the table and start collecting sets again. Depending on where it bounces off to you can lose a bit of time chasing it down!
Hi, Tank you for the explanation of the rules. We got this game as a gift and all the rules are in greek 😅. Few things I didnt understand, 1. If 2 players put the keeper at the same time who gets the koffel? 2. If the one who press the bludger DONT catch the snitch - the other players can? Meaning kind of fighting over it? 3. Is a player can choose which pack to get the new cards from, what's left from HIS original 12 or from his friend's discarded cards. ? And because this is special game in which everbody play at the same time I wish someone would video it one or twice 😁 Big Thanks !
Great questions! 1) In the rare event 2 players get the Keeper at the same time it’s a grab for the Quaffle. One person will grab it and then the next person will grab it from them and now they are the person protected by the Quaffle. 2) It’s super duper a free for all for the golden snitch at the end! Anyone can grab it. 3) You’re only supposed to draw from your own personal draw pile, which is the discard pile of the person on your left. If that runs out (the person is drawing and discarding cards slower than you) then you get to draw from either of the community draw piles in the center. And I think it would be difficult to learn the rules by watching a real game in progress. It’s really fast and it’s a lot of chaos. It’s certainly entertaining to watch though!! 😁

The numbers on the cards is how many you need to collect in order to have a set of the item. Any set of 3 you collect is worth 10 points at the end of the game. The person who catches the Snitch gets 15 points plus 10 points per pair of Seekers cards they have collected. That’s it! It’s a pretty simple scoring system 👍
It’s 3-4 players, although we have played with 6 players and it was doable. With just 2 players the Bludger aspect of the game doesn’t work properly, which is fairly significant.
My kids and I play this, but the problem comes when all the cards are dealt everyone is placing down their doubles or triples (there seems to be alot even after shuffling several times over) so we sit there for 5 min or more while the one person just keeps getting points. So my question is do you only lay your sets down when it's your turn? and how many can you set down do you just keep going? and I didn't not know that you had to call out someone's name before throwing and you can't smack it to the same person so thank you for that. This game can get confusing and heated quickly lol. But thank you 😊
So fun that you get to play this with your kids! But I think where you're going a bit wrong is the idea of turns - there are no turns in this game, everyone plays simultaneously. It makes for some happy chaos! Everyone is drawing cards and laying sets down at the same time. Definitely zero down time or waiting for anyone! Hopefully this helps. I really like this game but yes, it definitely can become heated at times when you're playing with kids 😉
The cards don’t ever run out! Your discard pile becomes the draw pile of the player on your left. And the piles in the middle are just there if a player isn’t discarding quite fast enough for the rate the player next to them is drawing cards. The cards keep going around until the end bit where someone catches the snitch 👍
We had this same problem, the cards ran out and the snitch hadn't popped up yet. Everyone had matches... Do the action cards go back in circulation once played down?? Can you only have 1 set of 3 for each item?

There were 18 cards in the deck total and the largest number of times it took to push down the bludger buttons until the snitch launched was 7 times on my copy of the game. So it really seems like the snitch should be able to be launched before the cards run out ... you can't discard the beater cards in a discard pile because that means the next person is literally going to pick up two and immediately throw a bludger. So it really should work out whenever you play the game!

Also, the ball hitting outside and someone has to pick it up while everyone is puting cards down and drawing... And what's the point of each player having two piles? Just draw and discard cards from the main piles.
It’s certainly some happy chaos when you play. The rules aren’t too bad once you’ve played through once - we have played with younger kids and they did okay once they had a little time to figure things out. If you’re looking for a really fun but simpler speed game I would recommend Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. And there are tons of great options for Harry Potter games - Harry Potter Codenames and Harry Potter Labyrinth are both pretty great. Happy gaming!

You didn’t show how to tally up points. Is Is it just adding up the numbers on the cards?
The numbers on the cards is how many you need to collect in order to have a set of the item. Any set of 3 you collect is worth 10 points at the end of the game. The person who catches the Snitch gets 15 points plus 10 points per pair of Seekers cards they have collected. That’s it! It’s a pretty simple scoring system 👍
