  • Do you believe that maintenance is a good thing, or a necessary evil? More importantly, what does your A&P believe? Maintenance guru Mike Busch offers some fascinating case studies of these two competing maintenance philosophies. Savvy Aviation offers Professional Maintenance Services to owners of General Aviation aircraft, such as: Savvy Mx (Professional Maintenance Management), Savvy QA (Expert Consulting), Savvy Prebuy, SavvyAnalysis (Engine Data Analysis) and Savvy Breakdown Assistance. For more info see savvyaviation.com and www.sportys.com/pilotshop/spor.... This channel offers videos about those services, and webinars hosted by Mike Busch which were produced by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and sponsored by Aircraft Spruce and Specialty.

Mechanic Induced Failure: the Snap-on tool truck arrival causing the wrench turner to lose concentration is so very true, and so very scary ...

Transport airplanes typically go 5-6000 hours between C-checks and C is the shortest interval where the airplane is actually opened up to look at the major mechanical systems.

Perhaps the SR 22 owner was unaware that those items were not required? We have performed annuals where the quote/discrep list cost was up to $16,000, but much less than half were airworthy required items and we just need signatures denoting they denied propeller overhaul and items similar to that as a CYA. Ensuring that they know they are not required, just recommended by manufacturer
As for the Cirrus Rocker cover loose issue, I wonder if it was a repair station or simply an AP on the side? Lots of people complain about prices at Part 145, but at least there’s (supposed) to be quality control procedures: a second st of knowledgeable eyes. Not that all RS are reputable.

Change your parts, oil; and everything else less. It’s proven you’ll have less issues.
