    Please do research before you rant. Many youtubers post market moves that have already happened but very few people decide to go buy into products based on the fact that they have already rose. Almost all poketubers have made videos on cards, products, or sets with potential or have mentioned it in other videos. So no it is not too late if you hear about it through a youtuber because many of them make videos speculating on the market not just informing of market moves. Your ranting about a near nonexistant problem.

    For some reason people seem to have forgotten that investing in Pokemon is a long term strategy. People watching graphs and speculating about reprints on a sets that are still in rotation is mind boggling. Buy booster boxes when/if you can and then forget about them for 5 years(at least), buy singles you enjoy that way if they make money then great, if they don't.....well at least you have something you enjoy!

    Danny phantump isn’t really an investing channel and he doesn’t claim to be. He gives info on pull rates, past examples , logic , for you to make decisions on how to spend money, whether that’s investing, cracking packs, etc. I love his honesty. Nostalgia nomics does a good job of outlining prospective plays , cards he finds undervalued, etc. And he puts his money where his mouth is, dude has like half his savings in cards. The tubers I have problems with are the ones that just read tcg player graphs and show how much stuff is going up and then say “now might be a time to buy”. Like poke office or poke jace does this , and the info is pretty useless and he is just reading a website any of us can go read. His info is outdated before he even posts it. That’s the easiest, laziest content to create because he doesn’t have to make any statement or take any risk with an actual opinion. When I started watching poketubers, those guys were the ones I started with, but I find myself skipping their content more and more because it’s so repetitive and just gives zero useful info.

      Most of the time people watching his videos. It's going to be about investing. To me, once you show a graph, you basically giving out info. But behind the scene, he's most likely investing something. Most of the time, these people have TCG businesses, they also just throwing out content, communicating with audience. If you don't do this, it's very hard to scale. Like Brian said Facebook ads are fucking expensive, I operate restaurants and if you using that shit, literally run you dry cause you don't want to do the more manual advertising, and social media basically fooled you into paying for ads. You literally have no control over it and could be wasting .10 to $1 each view or click. And once you reach like 5000 for that much money. Facebook basically becomes a banker. Why that noise of green better environment and using less paper for advertising, just another way to push you towards digital businesses.

      @XingCollectables Před měsícem

      @dakingseaniii I use his videos to judge how hard a set is going to be to pull the top hits. His data is one of the largest data pools in terms of amount of packs opened to try and master a set. Usually comes out before the set is released. This allows you to decide if you wanna buy a case based off hits per case. Like past set it's like 1 SIR per case and if you are lucky you may get 2. Opposed to other sets where it was 5-8 sirs per case. And some were 3-5 etc... You can use his info to speculate if a card is going to be valuable once the set is out for a week or 2 just like the greninja ex. Was selling for around 100 first week then once people found out how hard it is to pull and how popular it is, it shot up.

    It’s just a matter of time horizon. If you plan on holding long term, the data suggests the daily/weekly swings in box prices don’t matter much like the daily/weekly swings in the S&P don’t matter if you have a 5+ year investment horizon. But some people are more like day traders and are playing the momentum game looking for short term wins. Both are valid strategies for capital growth with one requiring more knowledge of the current market trends. If you bought PE at $125 and have a 3+ year outlook you will probably be fine but you have more risk if you have a 6 month horizon bc of possible reprints. I don’t think we need to over complicate this.

    Over time people have to, if they are trying to be a good investor, learn how to accurately predict which cards and products will go up.
    It is a little different with sealed though, as many of the CZcamsrs have legitimately told many people when or during a product’s low point that this is a good buy.

    This is the kind of stuff that is hard for people to hear, that we’ve also all have experienced in different ways. I’ve definitely fallen into the trap before. It’s fomo and hive mentality/ group think that is so hard to separate yourself from.
    I think a lot of CZcamsrs talking in this way can create this mentality and that’s not great. I don’t think everyone talks about the market in a pump/ buy now way and Danny is a great example of it, but no matter what he says people just choose to hear or think what they want from it.
    Thanks for the reminder of this and I agree people need to start thinking for themselves. That’s also why a ton of “pure collectors” were the ones that ended up having their collection value go up whether it’s sports, cards, etc. they thought for themselves, collected what they enjoyed over a long period of time at times when no one really cared about something, and then it gets pumped randomly down the line.

    This is the typical market physiology of the masses. They usually base their opinion on the price of the product, not the product itself. When the value starts to rise, they get FOMO and buy into it to try to ride the quick tendies. When the product is at rock bottom and stagnant, they despise it and refuse to buy.
    Most are gamblers and are looking for quick tendies. The real investor looks years out and buys accordingly. Usually, when the PR is out on something, most of the short-term gains have already been made. The best buying opportunities are of undervalue products with good fundamentals that are currently being overlooked by the market.

    With booster boxes, I would think it depends on the cards in them I.e. if there would be a demand for the price to rise dramatically. Just never buy anything above retail really. Investing in a booster box that has good chase cards is a safer investment.
    In terms of investing in cards, that's why I came here to learn about. I see a lot of cards that look aesthetically appealing but are cheap in comparison to the ones selling the most which I find intriguing. Some of the things you said about researching into the game itself and what's coming up is interesting. You have any methods of actually implementing this/evidence of it working? I love this DGAF Bryan. Keep it coming.
    On the video itself - I think everyone goes through the mistake of buying into hype and getting burned (whether it be pokemon, crypto, real estate or whatever). Hopefully you learn from it and realise the pattern is the same pretty much every where.
    The comments section on these investor type videos is a dead give away as to who's new and who's not.
    Lastly; I'll laugh my arse off if the Lacey card takes off after this video (I'm assuming it's a real, not made up card)

      @@pokene_pokemon right on. I guess my question would be about price movements… would you say the price movement on alt arts was largely because of investors or is it more a product of collectors realizing their time to buy certain products is more limited as they go out of print… I think either way FOMO is an instigator on both sides. I get you are referring to irresponsible investment practices… and it’s basically like the dumb money that follows investment video advice… which I would agree. But, I guess a lot of people focus on this a lot. I’m just curious if a decent chunk of the FOMO is from collectors that don’t want to miss out on their chase before it goes to the next level of value.. I don’t know I get your point and I get that I’m not really responding directly to that point.
      I guess if I could some up my thoughts… I listen to Alex a lot and it gets frustrating for me to listen to all the I told ya so and the haters the haters and the sky is falling… but, I kind of get it to some degree. I don’t think people should be so worried about the investment space and the small percentage of people getting burned by bad decisions… maybe I’m off here.. but, I understand Alex in the sense that it’s like what are we doing if we aren’t propping up the hobby. It does a lot for many different styles of people. We should be excited for any success in any form related to Pokemon.. because it is all apart of the same thing and we all want to be successful in the end.
      Now after my “Dusty rants” comment, I hope you know I love your channel. I’m not really trying to call anybody out or say your video is in some way diminishing the hobby… I guess I just feel like the investment space of Pokemon is extremely valuable to the whole and that there are stupid people every where making stupid choices… or stupid is going to stupid..

    I was thinking about what could of actually made the Magikarp card that valuable. Ok, I get it, the card looks good but that much for an art rare is absolutely ridiculous. Some guy came to my shop and said « the magikarp is worth double as the iono ». The only thing I’ve said about the subject was that it was the craziest market manipulation I’ve seen and there is no actual reason why it should be that expensive. I’ve never seen someone disagreeing that much over something I said. So overall, if someone have a credible reason on why this card should be that high, I want to know. Sorry for the long paragraph

    So how is it worse then you hyping up new sets to sell your overpriced boxes? Im sure you’re loving these new rainbow boarders lol. I doubt we will see you open any or even collect them. Or how almost all of your content is just ads for your business? Or how about the over priced packs on box breaks? You're literally asking people to spend money so you can make money.
    Compared to someone just talking about prices and the cards they want to buy lol. No creator is screaming buy these cards when they're hyped up. I also can give you 50 examples on how i made money from poketubers this year.
    1 creator was literally buying umbreon v and vmax tg psa10s for $30-$40. Seen him talk about them for 2 weeks and then i decided to get some. Literally 4x my money. Same with the sylveon. Same creator said paldea will go up and i got multiple boxes at 95. Same creator was buying eeveelution boxes at $70 cuz he thought they would go up. Same one was buying evolving skies etbs at 75.

    • @pokene_pokemon
      @pokene_pokemon  Před měsícem

      I’ve NEVER hyped up a set lol- most my videos kinda trash sets. I will absolutely be opening everything that comes out. Nearly none of my videos are ads. In fact most of my videos teach viewers how to COMPETE with me. Additionally I’m teaching people NOT to invest the stuff everyone else is hyping. Is it Opposite Day or are you just an uneducated, jealous, clown with nothing better to do ?

    • @sotorc1448
      @sotorc1448 Před měsícem

      @pokene_pokemon so you didn't just post about you liking the rainbow boarders while also posting the box for sale, lol? You have to be joking..
      So you trash all the sets but then constantly post them for sale on the community tab? If you actually cared about your fans, wouldn't you teach them to save their money and not buy every set that comes out?? Nope, cuz it makes YOU money.
      You can barely go a video without mentioning your store. You consistently over price products because you know people will buy them because you have a following on youtube. Why not teach people not to invest in box breaks? Paying double what a pack costs just to have someone else open it is insane. Also, if you're going to make a video like this, at least be man enough to say who is making these exact videos with some examples.
      I just gave you so many examples of the exact opposite of what you're saying in this video. You gave us no examples.

    • @sotorc1448
      @sotorc1448 Před měsícem +1

      @pokene_pokemon of course. Ignore everything I said and throw insults😂
      Im not sad i just can't stand hypocrites. Telling people to be smart and not listen to poketubers while you constantly ask for people to buy your overpriced products on terrible sets and box breaks. The fact you can't see this blows my mind. So, as long as it's for your business, it's totally okay to get people to spend and overpay on everything. But when it doesn't come to you making money, you want people to make smart decisions and not listen to the poketubers😂
      So you can dismiss and pick apart investing videos, but when someone picks apart your channel, you throw insults like a child?
