This was mind blowing. It would have been by far more mind blowing if he could have spoken Japanese with English subtitles. But anyway….excellent. Nobody does such a format. Very well done Ben 👍
I agree with this 100%
We’re doing it both ways, some in Japanese and some in English to see which has the best impact 🍻
or at least Japanese sign language
Very good! Thanks for sharing!
Ben can u bring in the apparel & vest he is wearing…the drip is unmatched
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Incredible display of casting skill. That was amazing. Love this channel you always teach me something new.
Thank you for watching!
That was wonderful to watch a master explain his craft. I appreciate that he invests so much effort into reel tuning and maintenance. From my point of view, that makes the effort and the results more satisfying.
Thank you for watching!
Awesome nature and such great casting skills. Wow. Like your videos with Masakazu
Great opportunity for us to hear from an expert! Thanks for putting this one together for us.
Thank you for watching!
That beautiful green Abu is a true need for my collection hehe. Thank you for the beautiful video! very informative :)
Thank you for watching!
I may be a total nerd, but that was art. Amazing casting experience and technique, really fascinating to watch.
Stoked you enjoyed it!
OMG thank you SO much for this. I was about to give up after investing $$$ on JDM Daiwa and others trying to cast like a standard baitcast and I was going insane
This content is incredible! I love it!! I plan on getting myself I high end bfs setup over the winter (Tenryu Rayz or the rod shown and Daiwa Alphas Air TW). Please continue posting videos like this so that we can learn a lot more from such amazing fisherman!
Played with the rayz in a Hokkaido shop. My biggest regret was not picking that up with my conquest…rod feels awesome
Thank you for watching.
Great video, thanks.
From the last video. Sunline Siglon PE AMZ casts amazing. Thanks for putting that one up
Yes! Glad you’re giving that a shot!!
Very cool! T Namiki is a great caster too
good stuff. humpback 46 my go to hardbait.
This is an absolute treasure trove. I can see now why I suck at casting this bfs setup. So contrary to the norm.
Those rod handles are super dope! I want one! 👍
They’ll be back soon 👍
Dudes!!!! I’ve been wanting to finesse fish using a conventional style reel for the last two years! I had no idea other people were already doing this! So I just have to look up gear called bait finesse
Great video
such a good video
Masa san's megabass shirt is 🔥🔥🔥
I very rarely leave comments on any videos but this one is so fascinating on so many levels! I’ve never had a strong drive to get into BFS until right now. Also I’m for sure getting one of those old school baitcasters because I’m a tinkerer through and through. Also also I HAVE to know, what are the bells for? Living where I do my mind goes to bears but I’d love to know for sure!
They were wearing them for bears also
Casting is like racquetball vs tennis on the cast
He probably likes that Abu for sentimental value. Its probably his pride & joy for many years customizing it.. Ive been practicing that kind of casting for about 10yrs know and my accuracy is finally paying off. I recently sold my 2010 coquest 50dc to pay off my 2023 Conquest bfs.I really hope you guy's make it happen and invite this man to the states for fishing along with some casting seminars to go along, and perhaps your Sponsors can make it happen.😉
Those small Ambassadeurs make great BFS reels, they're just expensive to build out. At the minimum you are looking at $300 in parts plus the cost of the reel itself. A fully modded 2500C; spool, offset frame, lighter brake plate, mag brake, line guide, level wind, cog wheel, faster gears, etc can set one back $1000 easy. While the reel hasn't been made since '08, each and every part, save for the side plates, are available in the aftermarket from companies like Avail and Valleyhill. I own 5 of them and they see much more action than my other BFS reels. A couple are set up for fishing small creeks and the others for larger rivers and lakes. They strike a nice balance of looks and performance plus they're so simple internally that they can be serviced in the field if need be. They can be completely serviced with something like a Leatherman or one of those pack-in wrench/screwdriver tools that reels came with in years past. I also own a pair of Calcutta Conquests ('17 and '23 models), a Millionaire CT SV, and a BFS tuned Millionaire Ringa SSS which are great reels in their own right.
This dude is on another level….
Yes he is 🤯
Now did Ben really say master bait finesse angler 😂 anyhow,,
Bells 🔔 are for the bears 🐻
Love it! By the way, I noticed both of you are wearing some sort of bells, wondering what's that for?
Helps in preventing bear attacks, we wear them all the time here as bear encounters are not uncommon.
Makes me want to mod my old Calcutta 50 for bfs. I am still thinking about getting the conquest bfs though. I know it would be easier than tracking down the bfs spool and bearings for my old Calcutta (and hoping they work).....FishOn...Jim
Just buy the avail microcast spool and kattobi spool bearings for your 50 from hedgehog studios it definitely works
Wowww!!!
Try the underhand cast method also really affective
Fire 🔥🔥 now I need to find an old Abu lmao
Great
I’ve been waiting for these huntsman rods to be in stock for some time… Ive been checking every day lol
Early 2024 👍
@@thehookuptackle_usaThanks for the update!
Love the content! Love my bfs setups. I need to know what the bells he has on are for?!?! Obviously nothing to do with the video, but interested nonetheless
Bear bells I'm guessing?
They are to scare the bears away
Awesome content as always! but the more important question is why is he carrying bells on his vest, does he like the sound while moving?
So he doesn’t get attacked by bears
I eat this BFS content up. Please keep producing it! Can you provide some direction on what size and brand split rings and snaps you use for something like a GH Humpback 46? Also which split ring pliers works best for the tiny BFS stuff?
Gamakatsu P004 Micro Split Ring Pliers are good for most smaller split rings. If you want to go very small then you can get the Mukai Split Ring Opener. You aren't going to need to change the split rings on those baits. The ones they come with are fine. If you want to switch out to single inline hooks there is no need to buy the big money "Japanese" hooks. The Valortac inline hooks are fantastic. Size 6 or 8 is best. When sizing inline hooks you should roughly match the distance between the tips of 2 legs on treble hook with the distance between the shank and the hook point on a single hook.
@@RockyPondProductions Very helpful! Thank you.
I use size 00 snaps - BKK or Fasnap
Real life ninja.
Ben this was way over the top cool brother.I just need to no why the bells i need to no i might need to get some to be as cool as this dude.
They’re are used so you don’t get attacked by bears in the Japan forrest
@am-fishing-adventures
0:13 Why do they use the bells for?
That's awesome. What was the green reel Masa was using?
@glxbe It’s an old Abu ambassador that’s been customised for bfs but it’s not a cheap thing to do . They are usually in the 1500-2500 size . The hedgehog studio is a good place for the bits needed
It’s an old custom build Abu
“Every Beginner should know this”
Yeah maybe, but no Beginner can replicate this.
This is Pro level BFS casting ..
So fckn cool
I need that set up
What's the best length for bfs rod
You can't tell me that you put the words master and bait together by accident.
What are the bells for?
Can anyone tell me what type of line and diameter of line the gentlemam uses? Thanks in advance if anyone can let me know.
how about leader..need long or short?
Modded abu reels are just as good if better than any modern reels
Machinegnn cast!!!!
Was that a ABU 4600 ç3. Killer pistol grip on that new rod. Had many lightning rods and lews rod and so many more in that same style. That handle appears to be made out of wood?? How does that weight affect the balance. So many ??
That's an Abu 2500C, the small Ambassadeur.
U may be right but I saw the handle has 2 grips and not 1 @@brasshnkey
@@jeffreyrodgers5835 he's using a Haneda Craft handle, same kind I run on mine. The 2500C could be had with a few different handle options from the factory; a 55mm twin handle, a 32.5mm counter balance, or an 80mm power handle.
I was thinking about building a rod to match the 2500 but kind of like high performance new bearings and spool kind of thing. Wow. I'm seeing prices for ones already built in Japan for 600 plus bucks. Insane. May just skip that project. For now
@@jeffreyrodgers5835 if you want to find a cheaper 2500C, look at garage sales, estate sales, and antique shops. They usually go for well under $100. eBay prices have shot up since these found a new niche in BFS. Just a few years ago these could be had at bargain prices with even mint with box examples going for $100 to $150. Now reels like that are going for $500+.
Are those rods one piece, two piece, multi piece?
What’s the setup masa has ?
Does anyone know the name of the rod?
What’s up the 🔔

What Rods are they using

what's with the bells??
So he doesn’t get attacked by bears
Didn't know that was a thing. Do people hunt bears there? Like black bears? Pandas?? Lol 😆
@@youtubzkozhunting, and firearms in general are heavily regulated and an extreme rarity here. Bears and monkeys are prolific in the rural mountains here in Japan. Fishing here really puts you in nature more than most outside of Japan realize. Oh, and Pandas are a Chinese thing, I don't think there are wild pandas here in Japan, or at least I haven't encountered any if there are.
У этого мужика большие колокольчики!!😅
I wonder why he's got bells on his bags
To keep the bears away.
something tells me those ambassadeurs arnt off the shelf, lots of tuning
They cost some coin to build out. I have a stable of them set up for BFSing in streams as well as bigger rivers. I have a 2500C, 3 2500C IARs, and a 1600C IAR. Fine reels and so simple inside that they can be serviced in the field if need be.
I BE WATCHING HIS VIDOES A LOT BUT THE BELLS HE CARRIES AROUND HIM ARE KIND ANNOYING, COOL VIDEO THO
BEAR BELLS
That scares them away?
@@Bassmaster12234 supposedly hahaha
Annoying is better than dead 👍. Bear attacks in Japan are very common
@@thehookuptackle_usa I didn’t know they used that, rather just carry a gun at that point
N oooo Frenchh 🤮🤮😱
