I've seen them in Australia and I've seen them in Japan and seeing in Japan is like nothing else. The crowds there are so hyped and know exactly what to do for every song. If you want the true Babymetal experience, you have to go and see them on home turf.

Great reaction. 'BABYMETAL Death' was the first song on the first album. They had not played it live since 2017 because it is an intro song and they are introducing themselves by name, but they couldn't use it with just two official members and the original third member Yuimetal didn't appear at all after October 2017 and officially announced she was leaving the band in October 2018.
This performance was on 2nd April 2023 - the first concert with Momometal as an official member, so 'BABYMETAL Death' was back ... I don't know if you heard the crowd cheer particularly loudly when she introduced herself as "Momometal desu".
The whole song is based on a pun. The English word death sounds to a Japanese speaker like the Japanese word desu (the U is silent) spoken with a slight lisp.
Desu means to be - as in I am, we are, it is etc. Basically the lyrics for this song are: "B_A_B_Y_M_E_T_A_L" ... "I am Su-metal", "I am Moametal", "I am Momometal" "We are BABYMETAL" ... "Death Death Death Death Death Death Death Death".
You got a hint of the sort of thing they do and the theatrics at the start of this performance when they play 'BABYMETAL Death' ... I suspect you would be blown away by the Legend 1997 performance where they were celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday.
Being an introduction song they would normally play it right at the start of the concerts (it is a great way to get the crowd hyped and joining in straight away), but that was one of the special occasions where they played it later in the show - for that one it was the finale.

Performed twice with just 2 members on stage, without Yuimetal at Legend S.

@@autohmae Very true, but her not being able to perform was a last minute decision and the set list etc was probably as good as set in stone, at least in part, because of the lore etc.

As this is an introduction song, it was a great way to re-introduce Babymetal as 3 members, they've used it for pretty much every show since.

I saw them in Colorado last year. The crowd was actually quite into it. There is a great video of their Metali performance in Denver that I recommend watching on your own time. It's not the same as the Japanense audience, and co-headlining with Dethklok diluted the crowd, but the BABYMETAL fans still definitely showed up. I totally recommend going next time.

👍👍👍For those who say BABYMETAL is not metal, I present you with BABYMETAL Death.😉
An interesting take posted on BABYMETAL REDDIT by VulpineDeity:
Take it a step farther. Not only does 'SU-METAL DESU' mean she's introducing herself, it's also her super-hero transformation phrase.
Like on Sailor Moon, Usagi says 'Moon Prism Power!' and turns into Sailor Moon, Suzuka Nakamoto shouts 'I AM SU-METAL' and becomes possessed by the spirit of the Fox God and transforms into the Metal Goddess SU-METAL.
The magical girl who transforms into a hero is a huge trope in Japan, comparable to Disney princesses in the west. BABYMETAL DEATH! follows the trope and it's the moment that they all transform into their magical alter egos at the start of the show.

Don't worry, no matter where in the world it is . if it's a Kitsune/Megitsune audience and a BabyMetal show, you will get a massive response from the fans 😃 my throat was sore for a week after Roundhouse shows in London 😂 👍

🤘🦊🤘 And yes seeing them in Japan is on next level, been lucky to see them twice in Japan, also seen them in Stockholm, Oslo and Germany, not the same thing, not bad concerts by all means, but just not the same...

I saw them live back to back in Houston and Dallas for my first times last year and man it was wild! They don't get to bring their insane stage production of course but the trade off is you get to be VERY close to them (if you're willing to pay extra and wait in line for hours, worth it at least once in my opinion) which cannot happen in the Japan shows.
In Dallas my wife and I were very close, we got smashed like sardines for most the show .. Dethklok had aome rowdy pits but when Babymetal came on and played this song you woulda thought it was the apocalypse, I was worried myself about Texas crowdw not getting up for them but I was wrong! Farther back of course there's less energy but where we were at least, it was WILD!
Also, the amount of personal crowd interacting they did was so cool! They really connect and make the crowd feel special. Lots of smiles, waves, completing hearts, blowing kisses, laughing. I got a smile and giggle from Moa, I was wearing some shiny shoulder armor similar to theie current outfits that my wife made for me and they saw.
    Pretty incredible and special group!
Their relentless energy is 200% every. Single. Song. Every. Show!
They make me laugh and smile!

And as usual, the title is contrary to the content. It is not the death of Babymetal but in fact the key is Desu , the Version from to be in japanese. They simply say " i am Su Metal" " I am Moa Metal" "I am Momo Metal" "We are Babymetal". So in fact it is a foundation song. To put it inzo another perspective: it is an invocation of their stage persona.

You have nevet Sven their european and US Concerts. The audience gets into the songs, no necessarily in their first song but after that. Su coordinates the overview while Moa and Momo engage the targeted attack. They observe Problematik areas in the audience and animate them. They dance exactly to these persons in the audience to get them to dance with them. There is a reason why their normal audience Container 40% females and an age range between 5 and 85. Not really the normal audiencebfor your normal metal concert.
