  • In this video I forge a traditional hasp latch using only hand tools. A quite simple project but it still involves a lot of steps and techniques.

What really sets you apart from similar channels is that you showcase the sort of day-to-day projects that take up most of a blacksmith's time. It's really interesting stuff. Like forging a counter sink. That was just cool, and looked easier than using a drill bit (if less precise).

Thank you so much, I'll keep showing as many of your videos as possible and spreading the word!

So I was in the forge reproducing the project and my daughter came in. She started to help me. We stopped and just made a simple hook. We had big fun. She has had many problems over the years, but it all melted away and we made this little hook she was do proud of.
Smiting is a wonderful thing, Thanks for supporting this craft

I really like how all of the components of this were forged, including the staples.
I'm in the process of opening a shop in Tennessee in the next year that provides custom carpentry, blacksmithing, and other custom products. Everyone makes knives and I've never had an interest in that path in blacksmithing. I prefer more useful products. I really like the large variety of items you make that are useful and can be used as a starting point for offerings.
It's also refreshing to watch a smith instead of listening. Your hammer work says volumes more than a running commentary ever could.

To go from 'concept' to 'execution' takes care and planning. You videos are rather 'deceitful' in that the 'idea' is rather clear, but your skill in production is sometimes 'hidden' from the viewer. This is rather wonderful skill and craftsmanship on demonstration here, and I love every minute of it. Wonderful you.
