    This is the narration I seem to remember hearing EVERY time we would visit the park, and thus it's my favorite (and in fact up until recent the ONLY Disney World monorail spiel I ever heard) as a result. If you ask me there was NO need at ALL for Disney to change the narration given this narration worked fine. Yes things may have changed with the park since the narration was first recorded, but still, in terms of general announcements it's perfect.

    This is actually the 4th voice to do the WDW monorail spiel, not the original. Contrary to misinformation on Wikipedia, the monorial did not have an automated spiel until 1984 (there are videos floating around from 1982-1983 that prove this now). Former veteran Disney CM, Kevin Miles, did the original WDW Monorail spiel from 1984 to 1988. Jack Wagner then recorded a brand new spiel in early '89 to be used with the new fleet of Monorails rolling out that same fall. Then sometime in very late 1989, Matt Hanson recorded the 3rd spiel, which was used from 1990 all the way up until late 2004. Then in early 2005, to kick off the year of a million dreams celebrarion, a new 4th spiel debuted featuring the voice of Joe Hursch. This spiel was used for 7 years and then in April 2012, the 5th and current WDW Monorail spiel debuted featuring veteran voice actor Tom Kane's voice.

    • @johnrpishotta
      @johnrpishotta Před 8 lety +7

      Jack Wagner actually debuted the Mark VI monorail spiel - and you are correct; it was the early 90's - I was there when Blue was lowered onto the beam. His voice remained on the doors spiel as it was part of a different system than the main spiel (CMPAS - which was a looping cassette similar to 8 track as compared to his voice, which was digitized and stored on ROM chips as part of the DPAS system connected to the door controller) His voice was everywhere at Disney - even the MCO air side shuttle used Jack - will never be another voice like his!

    • @DarthBrtt
      @DarthBrtt Před 3 lety +3

      @@johnrpishotta So I have scoured tons of YT videos of the WDW Monorail and have discovered a lot since my original comment! First, watching videos from 1982-1983 I discovered DW did not have an automated spiel at that point! Then I discovered Kevin Miles was the first DW Monorail voice from 1984-1988. Here is where things get wild though! There are videos from spring to as late as August 1989 where Jack Wagner is clearly heard. I assumed his spiel was used until 1991 when Matt Hanson's version debuted. BUT! There is a video from December '89 and Hanson's narration is already in use! So I have a theory which basically jives with what you said. Wagner's spiel was only used for a very short time starting in 1989 and then would have been replaced with the new Hanson spiel as each new Monorail train was added onto the line. I think it took nearly 18 months for the entire fleet to be replaced. Anyways, this is the only explanation why both spiels are heard in videos in late '89. I have found quite a few videos from '90, but all have the new Hanson spiel. So, is it also possible Wagner's was only used for 1 year?
      Anyways, pretty interesting trying to figure this out! lol

    So I actually went to Disney World only once. I was about 7 then. It was a long time ago. We stayed at the Polynesian Village. We went to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on our trip and we got there by monorail. I remember the Spanish “please stand clear of the doors” and I can even remember on one of my monorail rides one of the passengers was wearing a shirt that had this exact saying on it. Welcome aboard the Walt Disney World Monorail System. We’re traveling to the Transportation and Ticket Center. For those of you standing, please hold onto the handrails throughout our journey, and stay clear of the doors. For the comfort of others, no smoking please. Thank you.
    The spirit of Epcot, has guided the design of all 28,000 acres of the Walt Disney World Resort. You’ll find the application of leading-edge technology evident throughout, as we demonstrate our philosophy: if you can dream it, you can do it.
    We hope you’re enjoying your journey along our “highway in the sky.” Disney Monorails have been operating at Disneyland since 1959. The Walt Disney World Monorail System made its debut in 1971, and was expanded to include Epcot in 1982. Mark VI Monorails replaced the original Mark IV Monorail at the Walt Disney World Resort in early 1991 - completing the modernization of the Disney Monorail System. Each train has a capacity of more than 300 passengers and travels at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. You may have noticed that each of our 12 Monorails is identified with a different color stripe. Our pilots use the colors to help identify the Monorails operating on the system. Originating from the Transportation and Ticket Center, there are three separate Monorail Lines. These include the Epcot Monorail, the Express Monorail to the Magic Kingdom, and the Resort Monorail - which serves Disney’s Contemporary and Polynesian Resorts, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Altogether, you can travel more than 13 miles on our efficient and environmentally-friendly Walt Disney World Monorail System.
    We are approaching the Transportation and Ticket Center. To reach the Magic Kingdom, you must exit here and transfer to a Magic Kingdom Monorail or Ferryboat. You can also reach Disney’s Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary Resorts by exiting here and boarding a Resort Monorail. Before boarding any Disney transportation, please double-check all directional signs to ensure you’re traveling to the correct destination. If you need any further assistance, a host or hostess will be happy to assist you
    This is the Transportation and Ticket Center. Smoking is not permitted at Walt Disney World Theme Parks and Water Parks, except in designated areas. Please consult your guidemap or ask a Cast Member for locations. For those of you standing, please hold on to the handrails, and stay clear of the doors until the Monorail stops completely. When the doors open, please exit to the right-hand side of our Monorail’s forward motion. This Monorail will be returning to Epcot. Thank you.
    (Monorail enters Transportation and Ticket Center station.)
    Ladies and gentlemen, please check to make sure you have all of your belongings, and watch your head and step when exiting. We ask that you please exit here to make room for guests waiting to board. However, you may re-board our Monorail at any time. Thank you.
    (Guests exit at the Transportation and Ticket Center.)
    (Safety announcement heard when monorail stops unexpectedly.)
    Ladies and gentlemen, we are currently holding for further traffic clearance. Please remember to stay clear of all automatic doors. If you’re standing, please continue to hold on to the silver handrails. Thank you.
