I find sometimes it's easier to put the wool sock on first and then put the outer on over top. One of our better pieces of winter kit. I've worn them in -50 and kept my feet warm. Also helps to use the double sock system to wick away moisture.

I’ve found that as well, the droopy outer boot can be a bit of a challenge as you said. I’m very happy overall with this setup though. Thanks for watching 👍

Surplus kit is real good now obviously it has to do what it’s supposed to. I used to buy my own better kit back in the days when I served and the kit wasn’t really up to scratch. I like your jacket too did u make it yourself
Looks beaut there I sometimes wish we had colder winters here in UK. It’d be great to go out snowshoeing 🌲👍 spring is just around the corner here I reckon.

Great mukluks Wade. A nice score for you my friend. ... When I lived, trapped, worked outdoors and recreated in Alaska, I often wore US Air Force surplus N-1B mukluks. They're green canvas uppers with a black rubber tread lower, somewhat like a pack boot. They lace to the ankle and brass zip from there to the top, with a drawstring closure there. I would mask off the rubber lowers with masking tape and spray the canvas uppers with Scotchguard silicone fabric water repellent that would still allow the fabric to breathe. ... I loved them for mountain biking (with bear trap pedals and a power grip strap diagonally across the pedals) in extreme cold, for driving, walking about, etc. ... Usually, when I snowshoed on the job, I wore the ubiquitous arctic white rubber "Bunny Boots" which are actually vapor barrier boots. You can go through ice into the water with them. Then pour the water out of the boot, wring your socks out, put them back on and walk your feet warm again. ... Going through ice into water wearing mukluks is curtains. ... During less extreme cold conditions that still required snow shoes, I preferred a tall pack boot made by Whites at the time. ... A company in Bozeman, MT named Schnee's now makes the creme de la creme of pack boots. www.schnees.com/ ... Very happy you're bouncing back nicely my friend. I always thoroughly enjoy everyone of your great, comprehensive videos. Stay safe my friend. ... EDIT: Norwegian Lobbens, felted wool boots were very popular in Fairbanks, AK when I lived there. There are several models available, a chukka height, a much taller boot with a moc toe, and a newer, tall smooth toed boot, popular with mushers who also use them with a NEOS overboot. I've worn the tall moc toe Lobbens, very comfortably, walking around Fairbanks at -50°F and recommend them - under certain conditions (well below freezing, no busting brush, no possibility of going through ice into water). ... It's worthwhile to note that Fairbanks is two mountain ranges north of Anchorage. Winters are much more harsh in Bearflanks! ... Pia's Scandinavian Woolens in Anchorage, AK sells them and is a wonderful, customer friendly dealer. ... www.piasweaters.com
